“This was a nice but older hotel. The rooms were well maintained and clean but rather small. Very nice grounds and pools.” Oct 29, 2009 by
Anthony from Albuquerque,NM
“Overall I enjoyed this hotel and it was definitely worth the price I paid for it via Priceline. The grounds and pool are beautiful and very well kept. The rooms are a little older, but very clean and nice. The bathroom is tiny and shows its age a little more. The rooms are probably 3.5 star level, but he pool and grounds probably take it to a 4. Be aware of $19 a day parking charge. You may be able to park behind the hotel on the street between the hotel and the entrance to the bay. I saw vehicles parked there and it is a public street, so it should be legal and free. We just found it too late. Also be aware that the hotel's credit card machine triple charged us the $75 per day incidentals hold. We did of course get it released in a few days, but it is something to be aware of. Still, worth the price for sure.” Oct 28, 2009 by

“We were very disappointed with the Hyatt Newport. The week prior to staying at the Hyatt I had stayed at the Westin in downtown LA which is also a four star hotel and the Hyatt Newport didn't even come close to the level of service or accommodations that I enjoyed at the Westin. Room was two double beds when I had requested a king. Upon explaining this I was told the only other room they have was a handicap room with a King. We begrudgingly accepted this room but were not impressed with the room. Putting aside the fact that it was a handicap room, the bathroom was dirty and it looked like someone had spilled coffee on the wall which had not been cleaned. Additionally the bathroom did not have any decor and looked like a bathroom out of a hospital or nursing home. The towels in the bathroom were gray and the same quality of thin towels you would expect from a motel 6 not a four star hotel/resort. Overall we were very disappointed with the hotel and will not be returning to the Hyatt Newport.” Oct 25, 2009 by

“Newport Beach is beautiful, hotel is great.” Oct 22, 2009 by
Ronald from Rockland,MA
“Overall, the hotel was a wonderful bargain at the Priceline rate. I thought the parking fee was bit expensive. I chose the less expensive option of self parking and that still cost $19/day, plus it was located a bit far from the room.” Oct 22, 2009 by

“We had reversed 2 rooms and when we got there had requested a joint room since we were traveling with our four children, a 9 year old and 1 yr. old triplets. When we got to our room the rooms weren't joined so we ended up on the phone to get that fixed and explained our situation once again, when we went to our room the rooms were on the 2nd store. When my husband called back again, he was informed that those were the only 2 rooms left that were joined. Also one set of room keys wasn't working but they had new cards sent to our room in less than 5 mins. The price of parking was way over priced so we ended up parking on the side street for free. The rooms were nice but needed a deep cleaning ie., carpet cleaning, mold removal from bathroom, painting and wood repair around the doors. The bathrooms were nice minus the mold and I would have expected a larger tub for the 4 star rating. The beds were comfortable and the larger TV was a nice feature for our 9 yr. old. Overall, the only real complaint/issue we had was the joined rooms being on the 2nd fl. and we had to be creative with the babies & stroller each time we left/came back. We're already planning another trip back to relax and hopefully we'll get a cleaner room on the 1st floor.” Oct 20, 2009 by
Anjala from Las Vegas,NV
“Great location, but the rooms and beds are small.” Oct 11, 2009 by
Jennifer from Chandler,AZ
“We were disappointed that we had 2 full size beds for our family. But once we got to the room, it was HUGE. Even our kids commented on the size. We are used to staying in condo/Timeshare facilities, so it was a great size even compared to those (that are usually big). Our room even had a twin daybed set up in the corner and still had lots of room. We were right off of the pool and it had a nice cabana feel to the rooms. We stayed 3 nights and although we didn't use the facilities because we were gone all day, we were pleased with our stay.” Oct 7, 2009 by
Tracy from La Verne,CA
“I was expecting a 4 star hotel but it didn't live up to the expectation. The room was fine except for the fact that the bathroom was older with a small amount of mold in the shower and the tub drained slowly. I was disappointed that it cost $19 to self-park. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful.” Oct 1, 2009 by
Dave from Temecula,CA
“This is not a 4-star hotel. It is more like a 2.5-star hotel. Although the rooms are fine, they are small, and there is a motel-like exterior walkway that prevents you from leaving the curtains open. The hotel exterior and pool area is very dated and feels somewhat run down. Parking is $19 per day and is fairly far away from the rooms. I would recommend this hotel for business travel only, not for a leisure trip.” Sep 26, 2009 by
Mike from Alpin,UT
“The hotel was nice, the pool and grounds were well kept.” Sep 24, 2009 by
Bill from Victorville,CA
“We were very pleased to stay at this hotel; we have used Priceline extensively and have received Hyatt hotels several times and have always been pleased.” Sep 15, 2009 by
Ryan from Santa Fe Springs,CA
“Place need upgrade, although near everything (the beach, shopping centers, and local tourist spots). The hotel itself needs to renovate the looks. Not up to par in terms of aesthetics with other Hyatt Hotel, or some hotel in the area.” Sep 14, 2009 by
Susan from Shelbyville,IN
“We were traveling with my parents (81 and 76 years old). I did not ask, but we were on the ground level so my parents did not have to climb stairs. We had a short walk from the parking lot, around the pool area, and on the back side of the hotel to a private area of rooms. Our rooms looked out onto the inlet boat dock. The drive through area at the front door was welcoming, and Vince, the valet, was hospitable. Our room was tidied up daily and it looked as fresh when we returned at the end of the day as it did when we firsts arrived.” Sep 12, 2009 by
Jacquelyn from Sun City,CA
“We had to switch rooms 2 times and never did fully get what was requested. My husband and I wanted 1 king but ended up with 2 double beds. After speaking with a supervisor because the original person we spoke to was rude, we were comped parking. I did love the hotel and the ambiance of the site and rooms so I would like to go again but won't accept being lied to or rudeness from staff.” Sep 10, 2009 by
Carmen from Lancaster,CA
“Hotel was really great--especially considering I waited until the last minute to book it. It was clean (except for spider webs on the balcony). Pool was excellent. The staff was very quick and friendly.” Sep 8, 2009 by

“Excellent family stay. Wonderful pool and relaxing grounds, an almost resort-like experience.” Sep 4, 2009 by
Mica from Salt Lake City,UT
“We were very unhappy with this hotel. We felt that we were treated poorly because we were priceline customers. Rather than a King or even two Queens, we were give a room with two doubles. Additionally, one day during our stay the water was shut off without any warning. When we called to inquire why were unable to shower, the front desk was very rude and very unhelpful.” Sep 3, 2009 by
Jason from Newbury Park,CA
“This hotel was just okay- nothing special by any means. Granted it had 3 pools and outdoor activities like ping-pong and such but that did not make up for loss of water in our building on our last day. The staff was unapologetic saying "we can move you to another room to shower" and saying "there's nothing we can do" when I explained I felt the hotel should do something about the inconveience (i.e. some sort of discount/refund)- all this to no avail. Spend a little more and get a nicer place!” Sep 3, 2009 by
John from Rancho Cucamonga,CA
“Hotel is great and played the 3 par course and really enjoyed it. The kids loved the pool and the surf lessons.” Sep 1, 2009 by
JP from Temecula,CA
“Beautiful hotel that was a perfect retreat. We had planned to go to the beach but we never made it because the hotel was so inviting, we did not want to leave. Fun extras for the kids: free ping pong and shuffleboard. We enjoyed our stay!” Aug 29, 2009 by
Pat from Pahrump,NV
“Large and park like feel” Aug 28, 2009 by
Tucson Mr. M from Tucson,AZ
“Self parking is way overpriced. Our room had an awful sewer smell. Our room did not have a refrigerator, coffee maker, and very little room. Certainley not 4 star” Aug 28, 2009 by
Jared from Highland,CA
“This hotel was the worst Hyatt I have ever stayed in! It really needs an update! The pool was very cold, parking was far away and expensive, staff was rude, and room was very small!” Aug 24, 2009 by
Goutam from Laguna Hills,CA “The hotel has been upgraded in certain areas, however the room are quite small and shower/restrooms very small. Customer service from the front desk was not proactive nor did accomodating. General hotel staff was of assistance and provided customer service” Aug 19, 2009 by
Deb from Carlsbad,CA
“Good for families.” Aug 17, 2009 by
Joseph from Temecula,CA
“This hotel was very clean and had a good service. It was pleasant atmosphere and had amenities you can not do all with only one night stay. There are fashion mall across the hotel and beach nearby. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay comfortablely.” Aug 13, 2009 by
Maria from River Heights,UT
“Overall, it was fantastic! They were really good about letting us have a late check out too! We would definitely go back again.” Aug 10, 2009 by
Col from Salt Lake City,UT
“Grounds are gorgeous. Staff is amazing. Location is amazing. Rooms - not so great. Took a long time for the hot water, drain plug was broken, Aug 6, 2009 by

“Lush property, moderate rooms.” Jul 31, 2009 by
Cerie from Phoenix,AZ
“Would stay here again when in Newport Beach. Access to the Back Bay Nature Preserve was a nice surprise. Great for business travel but a little far from the beach for a vacation.” Jul 28, 2009 by
Carey from Livermore,CA
“This was a quick stop on our route to San Diego, the hotel was nice and the staff were nice. Overall it was a pretty nice hotel. I just feel that paying $20 a day for parking at a hotel is crazy.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Anthony from Scottsdale,AZ
“The Hotel is great with the exception of the room. My room smelled stale and I had to ask 4 times to fix the air conditioner which kept leaking. The whole room was humid. On the last nite the air conditioner did not even work properly. I was not happy with the hotel at all.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Krystal from Rimrock,AZ
“For what we paid it was beyond perfect, staff was nice and location was perfect.” Jul 24, 2009 by
Nathan from Los Angeles,CA
“We found most of the hotel staff particularly the car valet staff courteous. Although, we checked in after 4:00 p.m, our room wasn't ready yet (it wasn't as if the hotel was packed with people, believe me - quite - quite empty) we had reserved a room overlooking the golf-course and the first girl who tried to check us in, tried to leave us a room on the ground floor, overlooking the garage - telling us, the other room is facing a tree (as it turned out it was not so - but she did try to scare us). So she convinced us to take this ground-floor room, until we actually entered it, and we said - no-way. it was terrible. We went back to speak to another person who checks people in, who said, yes, we noticed you were supposed to have another room but it's not clean yet. So we told them to call us when it was, and I gave him my cell-no. 2.5 hours later he called, to tell us it was ready. The room was modest. The shower and bathroom, were equal to one I'd seen years before in a Motel 6, highly the standard of a Hyatt Regency. The air-conditioner was good though, and the bed was pretty comfortable. The room was not quite what I'd expect from a Hyatt. There were no real activities on the ground however, so we went out a lot. I have to commend the car valet staff however, they were pleasant and did not feel it a pain to bring our car around (we were coming in and out of the hotel a lot). Anyhow, that's my review. I'd give this hotel an hotel 2.5 star rating, no way a 4-star.” Jul 17, 2009 by
Anne from Wauwatosa,WI
“I would stay again at this location. It was quite and peaceful and close to where we needed to be.” Jul 14, 2009 by
Traveler from La Mesa,CA
“The hotel was situated in a great location. Overall I was happy with it, except I thought the bathroom was small and somewhat dirty for a 4 star. But what was most annoying was the additional fees for your pet. Outrageous. Good thing I got such a great deal at Priceline, otherwise I would have been really mad had I paid full price.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Debbie from Victorville,CA
“We were pleasantly surprise when we arrived at the hotel. The grounds were very beautiful and the rooms were extremely comfortable and spacious. We were very satisfied with our stay.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Christine Grontkowsk from Bakersfield,CA
“Considering the price, the hotel was suitable. However, I had listed a five-star hotel and this was far from it. The hotel seemed old and there was mold in places such as our bathroom. I do like that the hotel is near good shopping, restaurants, and the beach.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Karen from Livermore,CA
“Nice clean, updated rooms.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Hillary from Aliso Viejo,CA
“The hotel has Craniums, the board game, at the front desk to borrow. That was a fun night. The employees are very sweet and helpful.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Ray from Scottsdale,AZ
“Great location. The rooms are tired and somewhat dirty and it's not 4 star. The towels are worn, the housekeepers do a mediocre job (I would leave a toy on the floor to see if they would pick it up and they never would), there is no food & beverage service at the pools, etc. There is a menu at the pool but no one ever comes to see if you need anything. There are no activities during the week - just on Saturdays. It's no longer a 4-start property but the proximity to the beach was nice.” Jul 3, 2009 by
Andrea from Issaquah,WA
“If the hotel redid the bathrooms it would be perfect. Totally family friendly, alot of fun activities. The room was nice but smelt musty, the bathroom was bad. Looked like mold growing on the toilet handle and it also leaked every time you flushed it. The towels also looked 100 years old. Definitely not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. An air conditioner would be nice too.” Jul 1, 2009 by
Shaun from Calgary,Canada
“Excellent place to stay. It looked beautiful.” Jun 30, 2009 by
Barb from Palm Springs,CA
“This hotel is in an excellent location with beautiful appointments! They need to work on updating bathrooms and soundproofing with doublepane glass perhaps.” Jun 28, 2009 by
Lisa D. from Costa Mesa,CA
“This hotel is very nice and clean. Friendly staff. Front check-in was very helpful and friendly. We had a nice room. The hotel is on a big piece of land behind back bay Newport. Parking is separate down the hill or you can Valet it either way you have to pay. A restaurant and bar and coffee stop is located at the front. Room service is lovely. Had the Angus burger and chicken Quesadilla. Tasty good.” Jun 25, 2009 by
Ernesto from Henderson,NV
“Will not stay again, had a power outage at midnight, and they had no backup power for rooms. TV/check out system did not work. Expensive fee for a parking lot far away from rooms, and not covered.” Jun 23, 2009 by
Raquel from Las Vegas,NV
“I enjoyed the stay, staff were friendly and helpful, close to shopping and beach, comfortable beds and guest facilites, nice environment. Great overall!”
