“Hotel was really great--especially considering I waited until the last minute to book it. It was clean (except for spider webs on the balcony). Pool was excellent. The staff was very quick and friendly.” Sep 8, 2009 by

“Excellent family stay. Wonderful pool and relaxing grounds, an almost resort-like experience.” Sep 4, 2009 by
Mica from Salt Lake City,UT
“We were very unhappy with this hotel. We felt that we were treated poorly because we were priceline customers. Rather than a King or even two Queens, we were give a room with two doubles. Additionally, one day during our stay the water was shut off without any warning. When we called to inquire why were unable to shower, the front desk was very rude and very unhelpful.” Sep 3, 2009 by
Jason from Newbury Park,CA
“This hotel was just okay- nothing special by any means. Granted it had 3 pools and outdoor activities like ping-pong and such but that did not make up for loss of water in our building on our last day. The staff was unapologetic saying "we can move you to another room to shower" and saying "there's nothing we can do" when I explained I felt the hotel should do something about the inconveience (i.e. some sort of discount/refund)- all this to no avail. Spend a little more and get a nicer place!” Sep 3, 2009 by
John from Rancho Cucamonga,CA
“Hotel is great and played the 3 par course and really enjoyed it. The kids loved the pool and the surf lessons.” Sep 1, 2009 by
JP from Temecula,CA
“Beautiful hotel that was a perfect retreat. We had planned to go to the beach but we never made it because the hotel was so inviting, we did not want to leave. Fun extras for the kids: free ping pong and shuffleboard. We enjoyed our stay!” Aug 29, 2009 by
Pat from Pahrump,NV
“Large and park like feel” Aug 28, 2009 by
Tucson Mr. M from Tucson,AZ
“Self parking is way overpriced. Our room had an awful sewer smell. Our room did not have a refrigerator, coffee maker, and very little room. Certainley not 4 star” Aug 28, 2009 by
Jared from Highland,CA
“This hotel was the worst Hyatt I have ever stayed in! It really needs an update! The pool was very cold, parking was far away and expensive, staff was rude, and room was very small!” Aug 24, 2009 by
Goutam from Laguna Hills,CA “The hotel has been upgraded in certain areas, however the room are quite small and shower/restrooms very small. Customer service from the front desk was not proactive nor did accomodating. General hotel staff was of assistance and provided customer service” Aug 19, 2009 by
Deb from Carlsbad,CA
“Good for families.” Aug 17, 2009 by
Joseph from Temecula,CA
“This hotel was very clean and had a good service. It was pleasant atmosphere and had amenities you can not do all with only one night stay. There are fashion mall across the hotel and beach nearby. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay comfortablely.” Aug 13, 2009 by
Maria from River Heights,UT
“Overall, it was fantastic! They were really good about letting us have a late check out too! We would definitely go back again.” Aug 10, 2009 by
Col from Salt Lake City,UT
“Grounds are gorgeous. Staff is amazing. Location is amazing. Rooms - not so great. Took a long time for the hot water, drain plug was broken, Aug 6, 2009 by

“Lush property, moderate rooms.” Jul 31, 2009 by
Cerie from Phoenix,AZ
“Would stay here again when in Newport Beach. Access to the Back Bay Nature Preserve was a nice surprise. Great for business travel but a little far from the beach for a vacation.” Jul 28, 2009 by
Carey from Livermore,CA
“This was a quick stop on our route to San Diego, the hotel was nice and the staff were nice. Overall it was a pretty nice hotel. I just feel that paying $20 a day for parking at a hotel is crazy.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Anthony from Scottsdale,AZ
“The Hotel is great with the exception of the room. My room smelled stale and I had to ask 4 times to fix the air conditioner which kept leaking. The whole room was humid. On the last nite the air conditioner did not even work properly. I was not happy with the hotel at all.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Krystal from Rimrock,AZ
“For what we paid it was beyond perfect, staff was nice and location was perfect.” Jul 24, 2009 by
Nathan from Los Angeles,CA
“We found most of the hotel staff particularly the car valet staff courteous. Although, we checked in after 4:00 p.m, our room wasn't ready yet (it wasn't as if the hotel was packed with people, believe me - quite - quite empty) we had reserved a room overlooking the golf-course and the first girl who tried to check us in, tried to leave us a room on the ground floor, overlooking the garage - telling us, the other room is facing a tree (as it turned out it was not so - but she did try to scare us). So she convinced us to take this ground-floor room, until we actually entered it, and we said - no-way. it was terrible. We went back to speak to another person who checks people in, who said, yes, we noticed you were supposed to have another room but it's not clean yet. So we told them to call us when it was, and I gave him my cell-no. 2.5 hours later he called, to tell us it was ready. The room was modest. The shower and bathroom, were equal to one I'd seen years before in a Motel 6, highly the standard of a Hyatt Regency. The air-conditioner was good though, and the bed was pretty comfortable. The room was not quite what I'd expect from a Hyatt. There were no real activities on the ground however, so we went out a lot. I have to commend the car valet staff however, they were pleasant and did not feel it a pain to bring our car around (we were coming in and out of the hotel a lot). Anyhow, that's my review. I'd give this hotel an hotel 2.5 star rating, no way a 4-star.” Jul 17, 2009 by
Anne from Wauwatosa,WI
“I would stay again at this location. It was quite and peaceful and close to where we needed to be.” Jul 14, 2009 by
Traveler from La Mesa,CA
“The hotel was situated in a great location. Overall I was happy with it, except I thought the bathroom was small and somewhat dirty for a 4 star. But what was most annoying was the additional fees for your pet. Outrageous. Good thing I got such a great deal at Priceline, otherwise I would have been really mad had I paid full price.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Debbie from Victorville,CA
“We were pleasantly surprise when we arrived at the hotel. The grounds were very beautiful and the rooms were extremely comfortable and spacious. We were very satisfied with our stay.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Christine Grontkowsk from Bakersfield,CA
“Considering the price, the hotel was suitable. However, I had listed a five-star hotel and this was far from it. The hotel seemed old and there was mold in places such as our bathroom. I do like that the hotel is near good shopping, restaurants, and the beach.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Karen from Livermore,CA
“Nice clean, updated rooms.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Hillary from Aliso Viejo,CA
“The hotel has Craniums, the board game, at the front desk to borrow. That was a fun night. The employees are very sweet and helpful.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Ray from Scottsdale,AZ
“Great location. The rooms are tired and somewhat dirty and it's not 4 star. The towels are worn, the housekeepers do a mediocre job (I would leave a toy on the floor to see if they would pick it up and they never would), there is no food & beverage service at the pools, etc. There is a menu at the pool but no one ever comes to see if you need anything. There are no activities during the week - just on Saturdays. It's no longer a 4-start property but the proximity to the beach was nice.” Jul 3, 2009 by
Andrea from Issaquah,WA
“If the hotel redid the bathrooms it would be perfect. Totally family friendly, alot of fun activities. The room was nice but smelt musty, the bathroom was bad. Looked like mold growing on the toilet handle and it also leaked every time you flushed it. The towels also looked 100 years old. Definitely not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. An air conditioner would be nice too.” Jul 1, 2009 by
Shaun from Calgary,Canada
“Excellent place to stay. It looked beautiful.” Jun 30, 2009 by
Barb from Palm Springs,CA
“This hotel is in an excellent location with beautiful appointments! They need to work on updating bathrooms and soundproofing with doublepane glass perhaps.” Jun 28, 2009 by
Lisa D. from Costa Mesa,CA
“This hotel is very nice and clean. Friendly staff. Front check-in was very helpful and friendly. We had a nice room. The hotel is on a big piece of land behind back bay Newport. Parking is separate down the hill or you can Valet it either way you have to pay. A restaurant and bar and coffee stop is located at the front. Room service is lovely. Had the Angus burger and chicken Quesadilla. Tasty good.” Jun 25, 2009 by
Ernesto from Henderson,NV
“Will not stay again, had a power outage at midnight, and they had no backup power for rooms. TV/check out system did not work. Expensive fee for a parking lot far away from rooms, and not covered.” Jun 23, 2009 by
Raquel from Las Vegas,NV
“I enjoyed the stay, staff were friendly and helpful, close to shopping and beach, comfortable beds and guest facilites, nice environment. Great overall!” Jun 21, 2009 by
Janey from Calimesa,CA
“If the price was right I would come back, but not with the expectation of having a 4 star room as advertise (it definitely was not). I enjoyed the food. My sons enjoyed the smores and the fire pit. They also enjoyed ping pong (tables and paddles need to be replaced and covered in bad weather).” Jun 13, 2009 by
Merissa from Prescott Valley,AZ
“This hotel was nice for the money. The rooms and exterior are very dated. Bathroom was surprisingly tiny, elbows hit walls if you sit on the toilet. Bathtub surface was so rough it almost cut my feet. Pool was freezing, unable to enjoy the 3 nice pools! Spa was rough to the touch so it was not comfortable. Lost power one day while in the shower, found vomit in a lamp. We did jump a fence everyday to avoid the $19/day parking fee. There is a road with ample parking close by. Very friendly staff, gorgeous landscaping. Liked the bunkbeds for kids. Overall it was quiet pleasant hotel.” Jun 8, 2009 by
Matthew from Pleasant Grove,UT
“We found it burdensome to get up and drive to a a restaurant to eat, since the hotel's food prices were quite expensive. No breakfast was included and there were no microwaves. There was an extra fee to use the internet. Extra fee to park. Room service was quite expensive. Not very good for a family. There are many amenities but all with a fee. The parking was very far away.” Jun 8, 2009 by
Joanna from Toronto,Canada
“Luxurious grounds, friendly helpful staff, clean spacious room.” Jun 7, 2009 by
Todd from Beaver Creek,MN
“We were quite pleased with our stay the staff was accommodating and very friendly.” Jun 4, 2009 by
David from Fresno,CA
“Great location, very quiet, great facilities and most relaxing.” Jun 1, 2009 by
Rebecca from Henderson,NV
“Very nice. Clean but seems a bit older.” Jun 1, 2009 by
Linda from Tucson,AZ
“Unfortunately this was not the typical Hyatt experience. If you are used to upscale accommodations, this hotel would not meet your expectations. The room was outdated with a musty smell. There was no fan in the restroom. The towels are not bright white and fluffy but rather worn out and dingy. The parking is extremely far and very inconvenient. We asked the concierge for beach recommendation. She failed to tell us that finding a parking spot would be nearly impossible at Balboa Island. After driving around for 3 1/2 hours we went back to the hotel with disappointed kids. We definitely would not stay at this hotel again. Front desk very customer service oriented and friendly. They have a tough job.” May 29, 2009 by
Jamie from Northridge,CA
“The hotel was very pleasant right by the PCH where there were a lot of restaurants right on the beach. The rooms were kind of small but very clean and the bed was heavenly. Good place to bring your kids because they had a huge pool for them to swim in and you can rent bikes.” May 29, 2009 by
Nick from Apple Valley,CA
“This was an excellent hotel to stay for the price, area, and amenities.” May 25, 2009 by
Phyllis from Las Vegas,NV
“The area was lovely and the grounds were a nice mature landscape. The hotel was conserving and you do not get fresh linens or towels except on request and I am sure that would cost extra. They had a water saver on the shower which I finally requested the last night that they take out. The maid service did not make out beds complete one time while staying there. The service only pulled up the sheets and gave clean glasses for the bathroom.” May 25, 2009 by
Steven from West Palm Beach,FL
“Great place to stay and relax; and to spend time with friends.” May 16, 2009 by
Bruce from Beaverton,OR
“Like an aging movie star - looks good from a distance.” May 15, 2009 by
Patricia from Beaumont,CA
“The front area of the hotel was beautiful. The area that we were in was not. It was older very plain and the beds in the room were very small.” May 8, 2009 by
Darlana from Pflugerville,TX
“The hotel and all its staff made our stay so out standing that we are looking to make a return trip.” Apr 30, 2009 by
Jenny from San Bernardino,CA
“My kids and I had a great stay. Our room was very nice with a great view and comfy bed.” Hotel Representatives:
