“Was pleasantly surprised at this hotel. Judging from the area surrounding it we thought we were in trouble. However, it was very nice, and front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. There were a few issues in the room like TV channels were not working, but they willingly took that information and went off to fix it. Restaurant staff could use some training - as they saw people come in, one server would yell across the room to someone else to go and greet guests. Instead of giving us coffee, while the server went to deliver room service, he said he'd be back, so we had to wait. It would have taken all of about 3 seconds to pour a cup and then go on to his errand. Things like that make a big difference.” Nov 2, 2009 by
Kathryn from Antelope,CA
“Do not stay here. Pay the extra money and stay at the hotel Maya. Very bad neighborhood, you do not want to walk or take public transport around here.” Oct 5, 2009 by
Erik from Las Vegas,NV
“It sucked!” Oct 2, 2009 by
Donald from San Diego,CA “Ice machines, vending machines didn't work. 2 star at a 3 star price.” Sep 10, 2009 by
Chanon from Signal Hill,CA
“The hotel was very clean. The rooms were nice, the beds were comfortable and the weight room was well equipped. The hotel had plenty of underground parking.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Joseph from Solvang,CA
“I cannot recommend this hotel. It is in a seedy part of Long Beach, rooms are very dated, AC was terrible, and the room had a musty smell.” Oct 2, 2008 by

“Fast response, average rooms.” Sep 18, 2008 by
“Overall a decent stay for 2 days.” Sep 11, 2008 by
Michael from Tracy, CA
“Overall a pleasant stay but not in the best part of town.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Elaine from Coarsegold, CA
“Everything was great. Location is not awful, but just beyond the edge of downtown and tourist stuff, beginning to be a little more run down, but not ghetto at all. Next to a hospital, so you may or may not hear sirens and a bit too far to walk to tourist-y areas about 8 big blocks away. Free parking, pool and hot tub on second floor for privacy, beautiful bay windows. Request 4th floor, street side. If you have a car, you'll be just fine.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Michael
“Hotel was much better than what I have expected.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Walt
“I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and would definitely would come back.” Aug 31, 2008 by
Sohan from Beacon, NY
“Hotel was clean. Staff was polite and helpful. Hotel had microwave and fridge which helped a lot. Overall it was good experience to stay at Holiday Inn Long back. Negative Part: 1)Not safe to walk around at night time with family. 2) Elevator has direct access from car park. Anybody can go around the hotel rooms without the notice of security.” Aug 31, 2008 by
Regina from Independence, OR
“It really is not a safe area to walk around, and there are not restaurants nearby. The courtesy shuttle does take you within 3 miles which is good, since there is Shoreline Village just 3 miles away with 4 star hotels, shops and first rate eateries. For the past 5 visits, the fridge in the room either didn't work or failed during the stay, causing spoiling of the food, and putting at risk the baby's medicine. At least we were compensated with a breakfast coupon. The last two stays we have encountered ants in the room and in the restaurant. We were offered to move room which we did. Service requests to change light bulbs, fix a clogged sink etc. were made, but never completed.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Regina from Independence, OR
“Although there were heat ants, we were moved and given complimentary dinner coupons since we were told that we could move until after we had unpacked everything-we have a year old baby !I did overhear a man in the lobby reporting that his license plates had been stolen off of his rental car. It is rather a "dodgy" area.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Jan from Forestville, CA
“We checked in late and all the rooms were sold out and they could only give us a smoking room and we do not smoke. It was not as bad as some smoking rooms are, so we could stand it, but it was unpleasant. The staff (all youngsters) said we could change rooms the next day, but when we went to do that they said it was impossible. This hotel is close to a main hospital and there is a lot of noise and no view to speak of.” Aug 20, 2008 by
John from Modesto, CA
“I was on business and managed to get almost no internet connectivity. When I did manage to connect, it was slow. Technical support did not resolve the problem.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Georgette from Glendale, AZ
“I think that the customer service needs to dramatically improve the staff was not friendly or helpful. The room was covered with ants, I had ants in the bed with me and my toddler son and they were all over our clothes and the tables and the walls in the room.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Rick from Wildwood, MO
“Good hotel in wrong part of town.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Lalin S. from Hercules, CA
“It's ok for the price.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Krystal from Taylorsville, UT
“Holiday Inn is supposed to be customer service oriented, there are signs all over the hotel saying that's all they're about but honestly, the staff was a bunch of young rude kids that were no help at all. I wish it was in a more lit area and that I didn't have to worry about ants crawling all over all my stuff! They were seriously everywhere and we had to throw away a lot of food because of it. Oh, and one last thing the elevators were the slowest I've ever experienced. It takes like 5 minutes just waiting for one and we just happened to be on the top floor with a room furthest from the elevators as possible.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Tauese M. from Sacramento, CA
“They don't provide the same quality service. As a result from the treatment me and my family received from this hotel, I will never recommend to others.” Aug 12, 2008 by
G.A. from Tracy, CA
“This is probably my least favorite. The hotel itself is nice with well-maintained lobby and very nice staff. The building is a bit old but the rooms are comfortable. What I didn't like is the location. It's not downtown and it's not close to the airport either. You have to have a car in order to go around from this hotel. It's not in a very good location with a not so well-maintained neighborhood. The ambulances coming in and out of the hospital next door didn't bother because I'm a nurse and I'm used to that. But a family with kids will not rest well with the sounds. Not recommended for female single traveler.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Tom from Rancho Cucamonga, CA
“Did not stay here. Did not feel safe for our son.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Laura from El Centro, CA
“Front desk was helpful. Area not the greatest. My niece left an expensive toy at restaurant when we came back for it, all we got was an empty bag. So watch your things, staff is not trust worthy.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Karl from Gilbert, AZ
“You must be careful to not send families into inner city hotels. I was by myself but if I had my family I would have not have stayed here and now that I know where this is located I will not stay again.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Cc from Chula Vista, CA
“Would recommend for one night stay, its close to Downtown Long Beach and Ocean Blvd. we traveled to Long Beach for a wedding so they price and the location were perfect. Room was clean and spacious.” Jun 27, 2008 by
Helle from Phoenix, AZ
“Hotel is centrally located to major attraction sin area, offers shuttle service to those within a 3 mile radius, but not to airport. Staff is very courteous and professional. Pool area is small, exposed; great hot tub.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Cathy from Laveen, AZ
“Rooms were clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Food was very good. The location seemed to be in a less desirable area.” May 27, 2008 by
Yolanda from Omaha, NE
“The hotel didn't meet all of our expectations. Not a good family hotel because of the noise in the surrounding rooms and street noise. We felt our bid could have gotten a better hotel in a nicer location. We debated leaving the hotel simply because of the location.” May 21, 2008 by
Russell from Escondido, CA
“This hotel offered clean comfortable accommodations, with free parking, close proximity to the attractions and Downtown. They also provide a small free shuttle within a 3 mile radius. Great value!” May 13, 2008 by
Jeffrey from Orlando, FL
“1. Upon check-in, the key to my room wouldn't work. I called from the house phone and they told me they would be up with another key in a few minutes. I waited for 20 minutes then went back down to the lobby and found out the room was already occupied by another guest. I tried on 2 separate occasions to cash a check (a Priority Club benefit) Each time they declined my request, saying they didn't keep enough money in the drawer to cash checks. I reminded them that it is a Priority Club Benefit and they still declined my request, with an apology. The problem is that it is the very reason I joined the Priority Club.3. I ordered breakfast from the room service menu (Breakfast was the only menu in the room) I waited more than 30 minutes only to get a cold breakfast. The fact that they "automatically" add an 18% gratuity and offered such poor service and, the fact that they brought a "cold breakfast" really bothered my sense of value and expectations from a Holiday Inn. I won't return to this location ever!” Apr 10, 2008 by
Clarence from Kenai, AK
“As a traveler in am unfamiliar city this hotel was very easy to find. Parking the car for the night was easy. The staff was very helpful and friendly.” Apr 1, 2008 by
Joel from Redlands, CA
“Good location to Downtown activities. Clean and friendly.” Mar 31, 2008 by
Bob from Reno, NV
“Very nice for the costs and I will return.” Mar 21, 2008 by
Michele from Waynesboro, PA
“Hotel offered shuttle service to all attractions. Staff was very courteous and friendly.” Mar 20, 2008 by
Telma from Bakersfield, CA
“The location is not very good. The carpet in the hallway looks old. The view from the room to the outside is bad. The room inside is really nice and clean. The bed is extremely comfortable and the bathroom has a great shower. Overall is not too far from the Queen Mary and surroundings. The breakfast was not included in the price.” Mar 20, 2008 by
Melvin from Santa Maria, CA
“While the hotel is not in the best part of town, it is attractive and clean. The staff works hard to be customer pleasers.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Ann from Henderson, NV
“I would stay in the Holiday Inn again. I didn't like the fact I had no television working, after I called the desk to report this problem. I was busy and got in on the late side so it was okay. Just the same, no TV? Whats a room without a workable TV? I was put in a new room second night, but that was a large inconvenience. The first night stay no workable TV! I had to wait for service in the dining room. One lady was doing room service and helping customers. Short of staff. So got lousy service and cold food.” Mar 10, 2008 by
Regina from Independence, OR
“This is a nice hotel in a poor area of Long Beach. I would not go out walking in the surrounding area, so could not take advantage of any shops or restaurants, which there were few if any. My fridge did not work and I was told that "with your rate, "the fridge is a courtesy only".” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 6, 2008 by

“Good experience overall.” Mar 5, 2008 by

“This is an excellent location for the traveler looking for reasonably priced accommodations in downtown Long Beach that feel expensive.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 29, 2008 by

“Clean and comfortable. Fluffy towels. Not the greatest sheets but a reasonably nice bed. I had a good stay.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Sid from Stockton, CA
“We left a college school book there on the ironing board. They say they didn't find it. So its their word against ours. We didn't feel they really cared about the fact that we lost a $ 100 book, that is needed for class now. They didn't really try to get to the bottom of the situation. Disappointed customer.2. One of the three rooms we booked had stopped up toilet and was told it would be taken care of. Returned to the room hours later, to find that there was no note about the result of the toilet, used the toilet again, still stopped up, was then moved to a different room. Looks like they just move customers around the hotel, instead of fixing the problems. 3. The third room, was not able to use the phone, they were told 3 hours before my party arrived, was it fixed no!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 27, 2008 by

“The hotel staff was very eager to help, and extremely cordial. Although I speak two languages, it was nice that the staff spoke and understood English. The maid staff was very helpful and courteous. The hotel was clean from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was understaffed. I think a buffet breakfast might work out nicer. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. We slept, ate breakfast and went about our business. Except for the location, I felt that the hotel was a good deal.” Feb 24, 2008 by
Vaughn from Fresno, CA
“The hotel was well kept and in a Downtown location. The service staff was friendly and very helpful, gave good directions to my next destination, and gave me complimentary toothpaste as I forgot mine. The hotel was cleaning, but a little noisy (people) till late at night, or longer.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 20, 2008 by

“Very nice and clean!” Feb 20, 2008 by
James from San Francisco, CA
“Wireless internet was out in half the hotel, I had to go searching myself for a room where it worked. Location is not Downtown, but on the outskirts, a good mile from the downtown core.” Feb 15, 2008 by
Howard from West Hollywood, CA
“Nice, clean property in Downtown Long Beach. It is far from the airport for a hotel in an airport zone. They provide no shuttle to the airport since it is over five miles away. My room was nice for the 2.5 star quality selected. I had a king bed with comfortable sheets, desk, TV with lots of cable channels, alarm clock, telephones, fridge, coffee maker and microwave. It was a decent size room. Bathroom was very, very small but provided shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap. My room faced the street which could be busy. I did hear noise from cars and from doors slamming at night. Parking was free and easy. There were spots available in their surface lot. Free wi-fi and a USA Today were available too. All and all a good deal.” Feb 7, 2008 by
Belen from Bakersfield, CA
“We arrived at 9:00 pm, took we were in our room at 9.35pm because there was only one person at the front desk! We weren't informed at check in that the hot water was off and wouldn't be turned back on till passed midnight!”
