• Having to pay for internet service.

“Staff was very accommodating, didn't make you feel cheap for using self-parking. Quiet, comfortable room. Housekeeping staff went out of way to serve us. Unfortunately, the hotel gouges you on charging for internet service. Come on, it should be included with your room!”

“I like the hotel. The decor and the setting is very nice,. it is very conveniently located near restaurants and shops. The valet and maid service were very accommodating, however, the service at check in was just mediocre. I felt like a number even though I am a Marriott elite member!”

• Hotel is fairly vertically oriented, lobby not that impressive.

“Great location for Shoreline village and Pine Street exploration. Many nice restauraunts and nightlife in the area and great views of the Long Beach harbor area. Pool is not large, but view is nice. Comfortable bed and powerful showerhead.”

• Beautiful location, picturesque view on either side.
• Understaffed valet and bell services.

“I had brought a personal car and actually had to go into the hotel to look for an available valet staff. Luggage was taken up to the room by the security guard, stepping in to help. Otherwise the hotel was beautiful, and clean. I was given a top floor on the Concierge level with an outstanding view. I did not dare dine in the restaurant when I saw how poor the staff service was, but the in room menu looked interesting. Front desk service was quick and friendly.”

• Very comfortable and attractive.
• Lots of annoying add on fees.

“The hotel was beautiful, very comfortable and the crew members were very helpful and friendly. The location was right on the water in Long Beach which is great for Long Beach but is a bit of a drive to anywhere in LA or OC. The only downsides were the add on fees to park your car which was an additional $15 per day. Also $10 a day for wireless internet. All else was great though.”

• Just remodeled and it's beautiful.
• A four star hotel should have room service available round the clock - they didn't - I was a late check in and had to go searching for fast food.

• Awesome location and view.
• Parking was a little expensive, but it's ok.

“The hotel is located in the middle of the Hottest spots in Long Beach, CA, directly across the street is a free bus service to take you to some of the best restaurants, shops and tourist locations. The parking was a little high $15 for self parking; however, if you take the free buses you will save on parking to many of these locations, so it evens itself out. The pool is heated to 82 degrees, making it very nice even on a cooler day. We loved our time there.”

• The hotel looked recently renovated and was beautiful.
• The valet parking.

“Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and modern in appearance. It is conveniently located near a lot of local attractions in Long Beach. We walked to a lot of the places we wanted to see and there are a ton of restaurants nearby. The only gripe I have is the parking situation. You have to pay to park as it is and if you want valet, it's extra. The first day was fine, but on the second day when we came back from the beach, there were no valet attendants to be found. I finally gave up and parked it myself. When I brought this to the front desk's attention, they really didn't think anything of it. Other than the super-expensive, it was a good stay.”

• The location is great, but the staff is very unprofessional.
• Horrible front desk staff and manager, do not stay here.

“Horrible front desk manager and front desk employees! Completely ruined our stay here. And top of that he made several comments towards us (woman) that were very disrespectful. I understand that sometimes hotels get booked, and there are no other ways of getting a room; however respect and kindness from these people should be guaranteed, especially at a hotel like the Marriott. This hotel is a bad image for the Marriot Hotels.”

“This place was very nice. Parking was not a problem, everything was clean and the customer service was top notch, would recommend this hotel to anyone. Very family friendly and conveniently located to all attractions. Went on a Carnival Cruise and was only min away from the port.”

• The pillows were perfect! The bathroom was spacious and inviting.
• Pool is incredibly small and wasn't a fan of being used to help train new staff.

“This hotel seemed more like a three star. The in-room and hotel dining are very overpriced. The Jacuzzi was closed and drained the day after we arrived and for the remainder of our stay. Good location in Long Beach and nice work out facility.”

• The hotel experience was incredible, the beds were fantastic.
• Really nothing, however the rooms were late in being cleaned on 2 of the 7 days.

“Not a 4 star. Room not ready, I had to be at a meeting, so hotel told me to leave luggage with bell, and park car. Bell refused to take luggage, told me to park car, and leave luggage in car. Garage has separate elevators from hotel, so after I parked car, luggage is now in a completely different structure, I would have to bring luggage from car down one elevator, then go into hotel, to catch another set of elevators. So I called the bell desk, and even they were confused as to why I left my luggage in the car. Said they would speak to the bell man who told me to do that. Worst yet, there was hair in the sink, and on the counter, and in the tub, when I checked in, and tons of hair, like a hair ball behind the toilet bowl, for the entire time. After I showered, tub now has my hair in it. Did call about it, said they would talk to housekeeping. how can a 4 star hotel has hair in their bathroom, and I am not talking a couple strands here. The hotel I am in now, the rooms are cleaner, and just as nice, nice staff, and it is a 3 star.”

• It was clean, the bar was nice, some staff was helpful.
• Some staff was very poor, the cleaning lady was ok not great.

“Overall the hotel did great, but for the price, it would have been nice if the staff replaced glasses in room after removing them, hair in tub, etc. Also the staff at the front desk: some were great and a lot of them were disinterested in you. Gave us the wrong directions in a town we did not know and got us really lost!”

• The rooms were clean, well appointed and quiet.
• The coffee maker was hidden on a low shelf in the night stand.

“The hotel was large, but the service was personal. There were no problems with check in or parking (which was not as expensive as other hotels in So. Calif). Our room appeared modern, and not worn. The bed was comfortable and we were not bothered by noise. I was not impressed with my breakfast in the restaurant in the hotel. Staff seemed to prefer we ate from the buffet instead of the menu, and service was slow. The location was great for walking to local sites and shopping. I will stay there again.”

• Very accommodating: extra bed, more towels, upgraded to club.
• The hair dryer looked old.

“Very clean, but much like a 3 star hotel. If we had not been upgraded I would have thought this to be a 3 star. I expected more extras from a 4 star hotel without upgrades.”

• Location. Only a couple blocks from Village Shoreline. Great for walkers. Wonderful parks. Lots of restaurants and shops. Also pet friendly.
• A little noisy.

“My husband and I had a wonderful experience. Lots of restaurants and opportunities to walk. Village Shoreline a short distance away had a marina and park. Lots of sidewalk cafes and shops. The hotel is smack in the middle of the city but the marina is just a couple blocks away. We didn't need our car to drive anywhere. We wanted to get out of the desert heat for a couple of days and this trip did the trick. I highly recommend this hotel.”
