• Friendly staff.
• Thin walls.

“Stayed two nights; very clean room, pool, exercise room, spa. The walls are very thin; at 5 am I had to put earplugs on because someone nearby turned on the TV and raised their voices; it sounded like a party. Marriott should really do something about this, because it really affected my sleep and traveler rating, and I'm hard of hearing! Breakfast (a respectable full buffet) is not included - I knew this from reviews.”

• The over all experience was great! The room was large and the beds were very comfortable. The kids loved the whirl pool!

• Nice towels. Big room. Good curtains.
• No free breakfast. Hard bed.

“A decent hotel just a few miles from the Home Depot Center, which is what I was looking for. It's not the closest one, but once you leave the event traffic, it's only about 5 minutes away. I got in after midnight. The parking lot was full, so I had to park farther from my room than I would have liked, but I was able to go in a side door. The room was basic, big, and pretty clean. Nice linens. The bed was a hard as a plank. Maybe some people like that. I thought the towels were a bit nicer than average. What I liked best was that the curtains shut out a lot of light so that I was able to sleep really late. My room faced the on ramp to the freeway, but I honestly didn't hear a lot of freeway noise.”

• The hotel was clean, quiet and friendly.
• They charged for their continental breakfast and did not make that clear.

“The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The freeway was close but didn't cause a noise problem. The air conditioner/heater unit in our room was noisy. They charged for their continental breakfast but did not make this clear to guests. The price was high for the breakfast also. Overall, I would stay here again, but only through Priceline.”

• Well decorated, very elegant and clean.
• I was amazed that it did not have a microwave in the room.

“Very good night's stay beds comfortable and clean. Well decorated and there was enough pillows for everyone. Location was extremely good I was exactly 10 to 20 minutes to everything, this included downtown shopping in the garment district, Redondo Beach for restaurants & Bingo in Hawaiian Gardens.”

• Atmosphere very conducive to my needs of all sorts.
• No microwave in room - need one with refrigerator.

“I'm a travel nurse and have various types of needs for extended period of time depending on how long my contract is. I would highly recommend this hotel to other nurses with similar needs and likes. Just recommend a small microwave for us who can't eat out every day but have gone to grocery store and purchased little dinners and hotpockets.”

• They removed a dinner charge that was not mine. They called the police after my car was stolen and assisted me with a free breakfast.
• My vehicle was stolen from the parking lot.

“The pool hours were 6:00am to 11:00pm yet the pool was lock up by 10:20pm. I now know why the pool was locked early after my vehicle was stolen.”

• I truly appreciated Sam and I believe her name was Deborah for their kindness. They were great due to our emergency.
• Unfortunately, the Asia Desk Clerk was very rude and disrespectful, considering the emergency we had with my sister being hospitalized.

“Our overall experience at Courtyard by Marriott Torrance South Bay was quite an experience. To our misfortune, one of my sisters became ill and needed emergency medical treatment. The desk clerk was very helpful with notifying the Paramedics in a very timely manner. Because the emergency with my sister, we did not know how long we would need our room. When I returned from the hospital to notify the desk I may need the room for a few more days, and I wouldn't know how long until I spoke with my sister's physician, I was informed by the Desk Clerk, who was Asian, first if I needed the room, and I informed I needed to speak with my sister's doctor, then she informed me that the hotel was all booked up, and I would have to call the 1-800 number to book a room. After, speaking with my sister's doctor, I realized that we would need the room for a few more days. At that time I call the hotel and spoke with Sam and explained what had happened with the previous Desk Clerk, he informed me not to worry, the room we had before would be available when we returned to the hotel. I was very disappointed with the previous Desk Clerk that I encountered. I feel that her actions were uncalled for, and she should have been more helpful considering the situation. She did process my credit card right away, and when I asked her if the hotel used any discounts such as AAA, State Employees, AARP, or any discounts for the rooms, she informed me "No" and charged me the maximum rate. I was very disappointed with the service I received from her. I also, wonder if I had not been African American if she would have been more compassionate and helpful. I believe she could have been a little more helpful because the situation was very unexpected. I feel if a customer has an unexpected emergency while traveling, the Hotel staff should conduct themselves as Sam and Deborah, did by being helpful.”

• Peace and quiet at night, comfortable bed, clean and neat and not smoking smells at all ever, friendly staff and nice public spaces and parking.
• Maybe that after is vacuumed, the environment keeps a little stuffy (like dust y smell), until some air through open doors clears it.

“I definitely recommend this facility for business and or leisure trips. Even though it is next to a freeway, the noise can't be perceived at night, especially when the comfort of the air conditioning is on, so it is possible to enjoy peaceful nights on the comfort of a clean and neat bed, plus the amenity of the restaurant and pool. I was pleased the 2 nights I stayed at this hotel.”

• The beds had new mattresses that were very comfortable.
• The desk clerk that I had to deal with the most was not very helpful.

“The room was very nice and most of the staff (cleaning help mostly) were friendly except for a couple of front desk clerks. These front desk clerks seemed like I was bothering them whenever I had questions. I was also told by one desk clerk that they was a special promotion going on for the summer with free breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday. When I went down for breakfast I was told it was only certain rooms that go it.”

• The staff with one exception was remarkably attentive to our needs. The pool was warm.
• Despite confirmed reservation they did not have our suite available. Woman at desk was very unhelpful at first to provide an acceptable alternative.

“Hotel is very close to 405 highway. Pool and hot tub facilities were great. Workout room was substandard with broken equipment. Sound carries easily from room to room, much too easily. Cost to use computer in lobby is much too high (about $30/hr). Lack of microwave in rooms is a negative. Confirmed reservations are not necessarily honored.”

“We complained because the guest who stayed next our room made big noise all night long. We could not sleep at all. They were talking loudly, sounds like fighting sometimes using bad words. I guess that many young kids are staying one room and have a party or something. We reported twice to hotel ask them to keep quiet. It was around 4:00 am. But did not change for a while. We told hotel next morning about being not happy to stay this hotel. They could not do anything. That is it. I do not recommend to stay this hotel because there are so many young kids in the hotel. I strongly do not want to stay any more.”

• Staff cleared out the hotel during the night with a fire alarm despite the unpopularity of doing so.
• A little awkward getting into the parking lot. No big deal.

“Rooms are not large, but appropriate. Very clean, well maintained inside and out. Professional staff, buffet breakfast available (for a price) that is cheerfully served. I'd stay there again, for sure.”

• No table in the sitting-area of the 2-double rooms.

“This Courtyard is designed much like an apartment complex. It is attractive enough, once you get past the east-facing side facade that one can see from the 405 freeway. The pool/courtyard area is nice, with tables and plenty of grass and shade. The pool was a bit lackluster, but relaxing anyway. My room was a 2-double room, actually a bit larger than the king rooms, but w/o the balcony that the king rooms have. Very nice, tasteful furnishings, and pretty comfortable, though in the double rooms, there is no real "sitting area," just a soft chair (there is an "office" area as well, with the TV). There is no table at all next to the chair! The only place to set a drink would be on the small nightstand between the beds, or on the office/TV table. A small table next to the chair is customary. Aside from that, I had a nice stay at a great price!”
