“The Gateway Sheraton must be anticipating a remodel. No robe in my room, limited amenities in bath, bath felt older and was not clean, carpeting felt dirty to my bare feet and ice machine and coke machine were not working. Coffee maker with cardboard mugs was disappointing.”

- I liked the fact that it had a Don Shula steakhouse.
- Had to use the service elevators because the regular elevators were experiencing problems/being fixed.

“Overall, great experience. I would give this a 3 1/2 star rating not a 4 just because there were old box televisions and many 3 star hotels have newer flat panels and because the decor seemed a little dark in some areas. Enjoyed having a Starbucks and enjoyed the price.”

- Hotel was more than I expected, very nice room and all of the comforts of a luxury hotel.
- The only thing I didn't like was there were a lot of unchaperoned kids and they were making out around the pools area.
“This is a fabulous hotel and would love to stay there again. I stayed with my 8 year old daughter who was flying out from LAX, so it was very convenient. She just loved the room and the beds were very, very comfortable. I would definitely stay again.”

- Close to airport, would not stay there again.
- Dingy, wallpaper peeling, air condition not working properly etc.
“Wallpaper was peeling in bath area, bathroom looks like it had mole. Loud music play from 12 to 8 pm at the pool couldn't go down, the noise level was so loud my daughter was crying. Elevator was so slow we ended up using the stairs that lead outside so we had to walk around and back into lobby. Parking was a joke. We had planned to have a nice day as a family prior to my husband leaving to Iraq. The only thing good was the fact that it was close to the airport, but I am sure there were a lot of other hotels that would of fit that profile. You really need to check the star scoring on this hotel. I think it is wrong!”

- No internet, rude staff, a number of inconveniences such as rap party in the lobby and long elevator lines.
“Sheraton Gateway LAX is a lousy hotel and I will never stay there again. I spent 3 hours. Up till 02:00 in the morning trying to get their internet to work in the room to no avail. Sheraton tried to charge me for the non-service and then never once apologized for the inconvenience. Staff at desk seemed too busy talking to each other to pay attention to awaiting guests. Overall - a disgraceful hotel and associated service.”

- The elevators are broken the non-smoking rooms are Smokey the rooms furniture is worn-out and pathetic.
“My first impression upon entering my room was," They have got to be kidding". Twenty years ago this was a great hotel. It is showing its age and decay from the utter lack of maintenance and renovation. Unless they remodel to remain competitive they are headed down a slippery slope.”

- Bath tub did not drain - worked for 5 minutes after fixed, but reverted to stoppage.
“Overall, the hotel met our needs for a place to stay. However, the bath tub did not drain, and although it worked for 5 minutes after the hotel fixed it, it went back to being clogged again - not sure if this was consistent in other rooms. Also, the parking lot requires some walking, and a per day fee, which was unexpected.”

- No free parking no warning of this.
“The bed was very comfortable. The big downside is there is no free parking unless you park on the street in back of the hotel. Have to move your car by 10 AM or get a $30-$40 ticket. Waiter service at the hot tub was almost non-existent.”

- Location is great for us; close to the airport and our relatives.
- Rooms and public spaces are rather shabby.
“I'm always disappointed. I don't think it belongs in the same category as the other LAX airport 4-stars, the Westin and the Renaissance, which are both true 4 stars. I'm a frequent business traveler and often stop over to see family in LA on my way to or from a business trip. The contrast between this hotel and the real 4 or 5 star hotels I stay in while on business is stark. The rooms of the LAX Sheraton are shabby, the elevators don't work. The only redeeming features are the location and Shula's restaurant (which is good). I've been stuck in handicapped rooms, low floor rooms, and just generally bad rooms. Even on the Club floor, is not much better--it's just a bad hotel.”

- Parking situation was extremely shady and unsafe.
“This is by no means a Sheraton of modern standards. The staff was friendly yet fast to brush you of and move you along. The rooms were ok yet not that of a four star location. Room service yet fast was way over priced and additional prices were not listed on the menu, meal jumped for $14 listed to $23 after add on fees. Now the worst part, parking. I was expected to park as a women with 2 children under 8 a 1/2 mile behind the hotel in a trashy neighborhood and walk back in to the hotel. That was the most unsafe I have ever felt while traveling.”

“The, overall, experience was ok. The bathrooms look like they are in desperate need of updating. The enamel on the tub was coming off! The door handle to my room was not working quite right - almost locked me out. Also - folks - do not forget your toiletries. I accidentally left my tooth brush home - I called housekeeping to get one - needless to say I'm still waiting on that toothbrush. This hotel is also at the end of one of the runways at LAX - so, if sleep is part of your plan - choose a different hotel. This hotel is good for a one night - fast in and out type of trip or if you get stuck in LAX and need a room.”

“Generally, it was a very nice place to stay. Rooms were clean and well decorated. The beds were very comfortable. Free WiFi in the lobby was good (free in-room would be better). The pool was comfortably heated and great for the kids. Exercise room was nice. The price was excellent. However, service wise, I wouldn't consider it 4 stars (maybe 3-3 1/2 stars). Everyday, there was something missing from our room like coffee mugs, coffee pot, or coffee. In one of our rooms the toilet was broken and the repair guy had to come by 4 times throughout our stay.”

“This was our first big disappointment. We asked a room with two queen beds and had a room with one king. There were three in our party, so one king bed was not pleasant. The elevators alternated between slow and broken down. The wallpaper was peeling in our room and the enamel in the bathtub was wearing away. We waited 50 minutes for two sandwiches at lunch, and there were only two other customers in the restaurant. We thought we were going to be staying at a luxury hotel with a high rating. We found all luxury ended once we left the lobby.”

- Great location close to LAX & connecting shuttles.
- The lifts malfunctioned causing against while racing to catch a plane.
“The hotel is close to LAX with a free shuttle service to and from the airport. With advice from the helpful concierge, I could get shuttles to anywhere around LA from LAX. Great when you don't have a car. The hotel seems to cater for flight crew and is functional. There is a good, small gym accessible by guests overlooking a pool/gazebo area. The lifts malfunctioned on the day I was flying out and that caused some angst. Otherwise, for interstate or overseas visitors using it as a base & not hiring a car, I think it is a good, quality choice.”

- Good location.
- Room decor was not inviting.
“Not a four star. More like a three. The bathroom was small. Had to maneuver around and shut the door to use the toilet. Bathtub was small and cracked all over and did not drain. Counters and floors were very old and worn looking. Room decor was awful. Colors were red, black, grey, and navy. Very cold feel to the room and hotel in general. Not a warm, relaxing or inviting feel. Also, the windows in our room were so dirty you could barely see out of them.”

- Very comfortable beds, buffet breakfast was enjoyable, 24 hour room services was great plus great location.
- $25 a day parking!

- The very friendly staff! And the comfortable beds!
- The distance to the parking lot.

- Bed was super comfortable.
- Neighbors Noisy.
“Hotel was really nice, clean, and modern. Could not hear any noise from neighboring airport. It was much cheaper than other hotels and not much farther away. I would stay again.”

- Friendly staff. Excellent WiFi in public spaces.
- WiFi in rooms was intermittent.

- Beautiful hotel.
- Plumbing problems each day of stay. Room service could cook well done steak.
“I love the location and look of this hotel. Sadly, we had a leaking commode three of the four days there. Also, our tub wouldn't drain the first day. We kept having to call the front desk for them to send someone up to fix it. They offer to relocate us but it would be on the airport side of the hotel and warned us about the noise. They were nice but I couldn't help but get upset. I was traveling alone with two kids. The hotel breakfast downstairs ($14) was great. Room service not so good. Took along time to get food and my steak was rare when I ordered well done. Nice hotel for business travels, but not sure if I would stay again with the kids.”

- Air condition awesome, large bedroom, very comfortable.
- Lighting isn't very good. Too dark. Walls are little thin.
“It's one of the better stays I've had. The beds were big and comfy. The rooms had strong AC. I like it when my room is cold. It was clean and pretty decent for the price. And it was close to the airport. Overall, good job.”

- Lobby was beautiful.
- No coffee condiments, ugly bathroom.
“How can you make coffee on a glass top computer desk, to fry your computer? The glass top makes your mouse not work and flash -really the days of charging for internet are so over guys. If you have business travelers, they are fairly bright. Room service was great, bed was great, decor was pretty but coffee and internet are crucial. So glad. Renaissance has way more to offer for the price. Even Hacienda has its own charm. Hyatt place rules on complimentary hi tech comforts.”
