• Convenient to lax if flying in or out.
• Not a 4 star neighborhood. A few blocks from bad section of la.

“Sheraton Gateway is very convenient if flying in or out of LAX and the staff was very courteous. However the property boarders some less-than-desired LA neighborhoods, and possible consideration if you are not familiar with the area. The only on-property restaurant, Shula's, is quite pricey.”

• It was quiet.
• I wanted a 4 or 5 star hotel and this was not.

“The parking is about a mile away from the front desk, combined with airport parking and hard to find a close parking space. The convention areas were sparse, almost no furniture; even the lobby was sparsely decorated. The hallways to the rooms even felt sad, a bit gloomy. The room was acceptable and clean, but overpriced. My comparison is to the Westin LAX, a true 4-5 star hotel. Sheraton Gateway is not a 4- 5 star.”

• The entire facility is gorgeous.
• Housekeeping is slow and got most of my requests incorrect.

“The look of the hotel is great. Room service is offered within 30 minutes or it's free. All the rooms have recently become non smoking and that's a plus to me. On the down side housekeeping is slow and got many of my requests incorrect. Also the self parking is a block away and has long slow lines leaving the lot at peak times. Overall I like this hotel. I don't think it's really family friendly, but it is definitely romantic.”

• The staff overall are friendly and efficient. I like the contemporary decor, the divans are fun. Beds are comfy. Rooms are good size.
• The bath/shower could be improved. The bath in general is small, awkward to doorway.

“I have stayed at the Sheraton gateway several times for workshops Andy it provides comfortable housing for me for a night or two. The star bucks are handy and the two restaurants serve better than average food. Surprisingly quiet for being at lax location. Very comfortable for my needs.”

• The key system failed quite frequently.

• The beds were very comfortable, the room quiet and it was conveniently close to lax with a free shuttle.
• Everything except the bathroom was 4 stars. The bathroom was maybe a 3 star nothing special but it was clean.

“This was my last stop before home after an exhausting 2 week trip abroad. I was tired and my fuse was short. I needed this last stop to be easy and restful and it was. The shuttle picked me up at the airport and it was only about a 5 minute drive the hotel. The hotel personnel were attentive, polite and helpful. My room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. In the morning I had their breakfast buffet. The hostess was very cheerful and pleasant. The food was hot, fresh and there were choices not usually found in buffets such as crepes and blintzes. Overall, my stay was exactly what I needed it to be and I was very pleased.”

• Decor was very hip, business and health club facilities were very good, restaurants were very good but expensive, liked the star bucks in lobby.
• Bathrooms were clean but in no way deluxe need makeovers! Location not pretty but close to airport.

“This hotel is a stylish choice for the business traveler who wants to be close to the airport. You will find comfortable, contemporary, masculine decor, great steakhouse, star bucks in lobby, very good business facilities including a secretarial service, meeting rooms, attractive pool area, nice health facilities. Main disappointment was bathroom did not measure up to rest of facilities it's like they did a total overhaul but forgot to do the bathrooms. Small and in need of an update. Also, the noise of the nearby planes could be heard and the neighborhood is, well, an airport.”

• The friendly accommodating staff.
• I had a handicapped room (I wanted a king size bed).

“It is a lovely hotel. I asked for a king size bed the day before I arrived and they told me they had none. I took a handicapped room and thought the room was small and did not have the standard features I am accustom to. There was no power strip for computers and the closet was obstructed by one of the night stand. My side of the bed didn't have a night stand and the desk was way too small. But great staff and comfortable bed.”

• The decor is modern and trendy and our room was huge.
• Bones of the hotel are very generic/standard.

“Overall it was a great, easy experience. The front desk staff was quick, helpful and friendly. The room we were placed in was extremely large for the price we paid. The decor was new, modern and cool. The bed was comfortable (though the linens were standard/not anything particularly nice). The bathroom lacked luxury but was certainly clean and acceptable. It seems like this hotel is moving in the right direction in attempting to differentiate itself from the competition.”

• The staff.
• Big issues with bathrooms.

“We were showed 3 rooms before we accepted the room. The tub had lost the porcelain around the drain. The broken piece was about 8 inches in diameter. The second room had the same problem but the broken part of the tub was about 3 inches wide around the drain. We could hear everything the people next door were talking about. I would never return there.”

• Hotel was very close to lax and very comfortable.
• Internet service was not free and not much faster than dial up but described as "high speed".

“Overall this hotel was very nice, clean and close to the airport. The staff was friendly and overall it was a pleasure. The only drawback was that the internet service was very slow and not free as with a great number of hotels that Ive stayed in.”

• I liked the a.m. staff people who worked at the front desk.
• The p.m. staff people did not allow my sister into the room before I arrived as I had requested by phone. No double bed first night.

• The decor is pretty nice. The room quaint and comfortable.
• Airplanes roaring out my window all night long! No exaggeration here!

“I liked this hotel as far as it being a full service hotel. I ordered room service a couple of times, which came promptly and was delicious. The room was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The biggest issue I had was that planes were constantly flying out and with my room being near the airport rear. All I could hear all night was the loud roar of engines during take offs. It was enough to be maddening.”

“The gateway Sheraton is what you would expect from a Sheraton. Very business orientated courteous and knowledgeable staff, and good rooms (quiet and clean). I missed the free amenities commonly found in 3 star hotels like free breakfast, free parking ($13 self park and $25 valet), and free newspapers. All rooms and inside spaces are smoke free, so the smokers congregate near the pool and doorways and stink up those areas. Too bad, but thats another problem. Expect to pay a premium for everything: pancakes are $13 and oatmeal $6. We saw some families, who seemed to be enjoying themselves, but most mid week clients were worker bee types. Overall, a good experience.”

• Uneven housekeeping, no full strength coffee left in room.

“This was a business trip for and I also attended a seminar on the premises. The hotel staff including the banquet facility staff was all very friendly and eager to help. Room service was very good and my room was clean a sleek. A perfect hotel for the business traveler.”

• Valet parking, only option, adds to cost.

“Overall the hotel and room was a great bargain. It is very conveniently located near major freeways and the airport. Did not like that internet was an additional. Self parking was expensive and inconvenient as the pathway was not well lit so walking is not necessarily safe. Valet parking significantly adds to the cost of the room but was a necessity. Valet parking was fast and convenient.”

• Main restaurant is too expensive, room service is too expensive.

“Well situated near lax, good shuttle service, friendly staff, good service, (Westin was better), nice rooms. Shula's too expensive and room service is too expensive and Ive had much better elsewhere. Breakfast buffet is expensive, but very nice. Seats in booths in bar are very low and uncomfortable, but food is good and reasonable. Shuttle service is very good; porters are friendly and get the luggage in a very timely fashion. Checkout online is easy and fast. Maid service is excellent and room service is fast. Lobby is nice, check in personnel are friendly and efficient. They made a mistake on my bill, but it was quickly rectified.”

“Great room for the price. We were in a room with a door to the room next door. So you could sometimes hear people in the other room. Other than that it was great. Very nice. The bed was very comfortable. Slept like a rock.”

• Lobby wireless access was great.
• The fitness center could add a few more key pieces of equipment.

“Very friendly staff: front desk at check in, restaurants at breakfast (good buffet and reasonable price), and bartender for lunch burger while checking email via wireless. Room was very spacious, clean and quiet and the fitness center was adequate for my workout.”

“It would have been a good stay for my purposes if not for the biker convention. The noise level everywhere and the clientele made me uncomfortable. It degraded the facility due to the event.”

• Exercise equipment was above average.
• Nothing special for this star rating.

“The rooms were nothing special for the star rating guide when I booked. I expect cleaner, well appointed rooms with little to no signs that the furniture has been abused or beaten up. I was very happy with the exercise room overlooking the pool and well equipped with tread mills, steppers and some free weights. While overall the hotel was above average, I was not impressed.”

• The lobby and public areas of the hotel are modern.
• The must upgrade their bath products to higher quality and better packaging.

“I paid for an upgrade to a club level room, which I found to black luster. The club level decor needs updating and better quality food For the amount paid for the upgrade I didn't feel I received any special.”
