  • The lighting in the public places was a bit dimmer than I would have liked.

“I have stayed at this hotel from time to time and like its amenities and was very pleased when my bid was accepted and for this hotel. I would stay their by private reservations. The food was excellent despite the high price tag.”

“Ok business hotel, but this room were for disabilities and had huge bathroom at expense of rest of room. Impossible to open window for ventilation and air con or heat blew directly on the bed, very uncomfortable for sleeping. Shower very weak water pressure.”

  • I like the location and it was very clean.
  • Very old looking hotel. Restaurant Staff inattentive; do not eat here, even for breakfast.

“The staff was very friendly in the hotel, however, the restaurant staff was very inattentive and the restaurant was empty. The bar tender was gracious and poured a stiff drink much to my delight but the postickers had bones in them and my benedict for breakfast had hard boiled eggs. The hotel room was nice (a little dated) but for the price I think it is very reasonable. I'd stay here again. The bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet, especially being near an airport.”

  • There was no mention that it was a non-smoking hotel!

“I didn't like the fact that there was no mention that it was a fully non-smoking hotel and they charge you US200 for cleaning the room "if they find evidence that you smoked". Also, they didn't ask us if we wanted a King bed or 2 Queen beds. I checked in with my husband, clearly you can tell we were married with the same last name and we look nothing alike. I heard them asking others if they preferred a King or 2 Queen beds AND if they wanted an upgrade. I checked in with my Starwood Preferred Card as well. A bit disappointed with their service and detail for a 5 star hotel.”

“Recently updated decor. Nice place to stay. Restaurant food was okay, but the Chicken Picata that I ordered ended up to is a huge fried boneless chicken breast that was dry. Wasn't expecting it to be fried and did expect some sort of sauce on it. Service was slow in the restaurant. Nice pool area if you have free time in your schedule to use it. Good airport location with shuttle every 20 minutes.”

  • No refrigerator in the room! That was really sad.

“Front desk of Sheraton LAX Hotel said, "we have refrigerator but for renting out $$/night." I thought it was absolutely ridiculous for 3-4 star rating class hotel. I understand that cutting cost of refrigerator will save lots of money for hotel, but if I were to describe the experience of staying at Sheraton LAX Hotel this time, it would be like a perfect nice car without head-light at night for example.”

  • Old peeling, worn but clean bathroom.

“Nowhere near 4 or 5 stars. This hotel is large with nice public spaces. My room was adequate with worn but clean fixtures throughout. It was very clean. There was no pad or pen in the room, one tiny wastebasket, and similar lack of details. It's fine for a place to sleep for a night near LAX. The service was excellent, with good bellman service and front desk service. Because of the excellent service, I'd rate this at 2.5 or 3 stars maximum.”

“Hotel was nice enough. The pool area was the best part. The rooms were average, the bathrooms were old and dirty. I was going to give my 5 year old a bath, but noticed that on the floor and even in the tub, there were pubic hairs. Disgusting! It was fine for overnight, but was not a luxury spot.”

  • Registration was miserable and when I received my key at the max distance from the elevator it didn't work. No apology or willingness to assist.

“I thought the front desk staff was miserable. One trained person trying to supervise to trainees who needed his constant attention translation, I waited for 20 minutes to check in would that be acceptable for you? The front desk person was a sour puss made me think I was not welcome. Stiff, cold, uncaring.”

“Sheraton Gateway is very convenient if flying in or out of LAX and the staff was very courteous. However the property boarders some less-than-desired LA neighborhoods, and possible consideration if you are not familiar with the area. The only on-property restaurant, Shula's, is quite pricey.”

  • I wanted a 4 or 5 star hotel and this was not.

“The parking is about a mile away from the front desk, combined with airport parking and hard to find a close parking space. The convention areas were sparse, almost no furniture; even the lobby was sparsely decorated. The hallways to the rooms even felt sad, a bit gloomy. The room was acceptable and clean, but overpriced. My comparison is to the Westin LAX, a true 4-5 star hotel. Sheraton Gateway is not a 4- 5 star.”

  • The entire facility is gorgeous.
  • Housekeeping is slow and got most of my requests incorrect.

“The look of the hotel is great. Room service is offered within 30 minutes or it's free. All the rooms have recently become non smoking and that's a plus to me. On the down side housekeeping is slow and got many of my requests incorrect. Also the self parking is a block away and has long slow lines leaving the lot at peak times. Overall I like this hotel. I don't think it's really family friendly, but it is definitely romantic.”

  • The staff overall are friendly and efficient. I like the contemporary decor, the divans are fun. Beds are comfy. Rooms are good size.
  • The bath/shower could be improved. The bath in general is small, awkward to doorway.

“I have stayed at the Sheraton gateway several times for workshops Andy it provides comfortable housing for me for a night or two. The star bucks are handy and the two restaurants serve better than average food. Surprisingly quiet for being at lax location. Very comfortable for my needs.”

  • The beds were very comfortable, the room quiet and it was conveniently close to lax with a free shuttle.
  • Everything except the bathroom was 4 stars. The bathroom was maybe a 3 star nothing special but it was clean.

“This was my last stop before home after an exhausting 2 week trip abroad. I was tired and my fuse was short. I needed this last stop to be easy and restful and it was. The shuttle picked me up at the airport and it was only about a 5 minute drive the hotel. The hotel personnel were attentive, polite and helpful. My room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. In the morning I had their breakfast buffet. The hostess was very cheerful and pleasant. The food was hot, fresh and there were choices not usually found in buffets such as crepes and blintzes. Overall, my stay was exactly what I needed it to be and I was very pleased.”

  • Bathrooms were clean but in no way deluxe need makeovers! Location not pretty but close to airport.

“This hotel is a stylish choice for the business traveler who wants to be close to the airport. You will find comfortable, contemporary, masculine decor, great steakhouse, star bucks in lobby, very good business facilities including a secretarial service, meeting rooms, attractive pool area, nice health facilities. Main disappointment was bathroom did not measure up to rest of facilities it's like they did a total overhaul but forgot to do the bathrooms. Small and in need of an update. Also, the noise of the nearby planes could be heard and the neighborhood is, well, an airport.”

  • I had a handicapped room (I wanted a king size bed).

“It is a lovely hotel. I asked for a king size bed the day before I arrived and they told me they had none. I took a handicapped room and thought the room was small and did not have the standard features I am accustom to. There was no power strip for computers and the closet was obstructed by one of the night stand. My side of the bed didn't have a night stand and the desk was way too small. But great staff and comfortable bed.”

  • Bones of the hotel are very generic/standard.

“Overall it was a great, easy experience. The front desk staff was quick, helpful and friendly. The room we were placed in was extremely large for the price we paid. The decor was new, modern and cool. The bed was comfortable (though the linens were standard/not anything particularly nice). The bathroom lacked luxury but was certainly clean and acceptable. It seems like this hotel is moving in the right direction in attempting to differentiate itself from the competition.”

“We were showed 3 rooms before we accepted the room. The tub had lost the porcelain around the drain. The broken piece was about 8 inches in diameter. The second room had the same problem but the broken part of the tub was about 3 inches wide around the drain. We could hear everything the people next door were talking about. I would never return there.”

  • The p.m. staff people did not allow my sister into the room before I arrived as I had requested by phone. No double bed first night.

  • The decor is pretty nice. The room quaint and comfortable.
  • Airplanes roaring out my window all night long! No exaggeration here!

“I liked this hotel as far as it being a full service hotel. I ordered room service a couple of times, which came promptly and was delicious. The room was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The biggest issue I had was that planes were constantly flying out and with my room being near the airport rear. All I could hear all night was the loud roar of engines during take offs. It was enough to be maddening.”
