• The location of the room was right next to the pool and the hotel was close to the freeway. Shopping centers were very close and convenient.

“Our family enjoyed our stay and we were surprised at how quiet it was even though it was near the freeway. The continental breakfast was also more than what we had expected.”

“The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the surronding area. Their suggestions for supper were good, and the breakfast staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean and the amenities all present.”

• Nothing really.
• Some mold in bathroom, very worn down mattress.

“It had mold on the bathroom wall, the 2 mattresses were worn down a lot so my girlfriend got strains in her back and the front door was not soundproof so we were entertained by people stopping in front of the door. Additionally the housekeeping tried to enter our room around 9:30am despite the privacy marker hanging on the outside doorknob. All in all this hotel was just the worst.”

• Location.
• Breakfast was terrible! Took 45 minutes, couldn't eat it!

“Good points: Right off the freeway. Room was nicely appointed. Clean. Friendly staff. Bad points: Noisy. Security was lax. There was a teenage party outside our room. Should have gone to Denny's!”

• The person who delivered our food via room service was friendly.
• The carpet was from the 70's and looked like that was the last time it had been vacuumed. White tiles in bathroom were dirty.

“This is really a one-and-a-half-star hotel. The spaces could be good if they would renovate, update and clean. The windows were not safe at all; you could easily open them and there was no screen. Someone could climb right in, or children could climb and fall right out. It was so dirty I felt uncomfortable walking around in bare feet, or letting my children do the same.”

• The staff was excellent, the rooms were beautiful, the continental breakfast was superb! Centrally located, beautiful hotel.

“I would recommend this hotel to anybody. Friendly staff, huge rooms, and excellent breakfast. Wants to go back. Thank you Red Lion Inn for everything.”

• I liked the price.
• I did not like the room. There were a couple of bugs that I saw.

“This hotel used to be better. I stayed here once before, and that stay was fine, but this time, it wasn't so great. Besides the bugs, the lobby was hot. The room was also hot when we first entered. I suppose the establishment was conserving energy, but usually, when one is expecting a guest in a particular room, that room should be immediately comfortable when one walks into it. It was stuffy! And it was about 104 degrees outside! Also, if we're talking baby cockroach here, we're talking nest. It's a bit disconcerting.”

• The staff was friendly and helpful.
• The maid came in the room even though I had the do not disturb sign on the door.

“The room was clean the service was friendly. Several food places close by to eat at. I had the do not disturb sign on the door and the maid came in the room anyway which was very irritating as she woke me up. Other than that, everything was great.”

• The rooms were comfortable, and the beds were great.
• They have a contract with the railroad so some shady characters were around.

“Overall, not bad for Bakersfield, good location rooms were nice and quite for the most part, bathrooms are dated and the staff was not the most welcoming. The Bar/restaurant was not the best in town, and I did see an altercation there one night, but the drinks are cheap, comfy beds and more pillows then you need.”

• No security in the parking lot, I saw some people hanging out there that didn't belong.

• The beds were Super comfortable.
• The pool didn't open until 10 AM.

“The rooms were nice and clean. The hotel was in a great location by freeway. Across the street from a 24 hour fitness with childcare. Their is a Costco across the street.”

“Breakfast was a joke which we got there at 9:30. Breakfast was until 10 am I asked for some potatoes they did not want to bring them out. So I did not get any. We called ahead they said we could check in early. When we got there they sent us away. Then we came back at 4:30 and we had to wait 25 min for our room.”

• I liked the microwave and refrigerator in the room.
• The television's sound was not consistent, and our AV cables to hook up a DVD player would not work.

“I'm glad it came with a microwave. The bed and the bath amenities were great. The television's sound quality was terrible, and I could hear the squeaking from the floor above us.”

• The bed was comfortable and the room was a decent size.
• The attached restaurant needs to improve their food and service. Bathroom shower could have been cleaner.

“For the money we paid, it was a very good choice. Bed was comfortable and we liked the fact that there was a micro and refrigerator in the room. The only negative was the food at the restaurant, and the breakfast didn't offer much choice, but it was free. The tile in the bathroom shower could have been cleaner. Overall it was a good choice for the money and we would stay there again and recommend it.”

“This hotel had a sign hanging next to the door when we went in and it said. Caution: This building contains chemicals that have been known to cause cancer. If you are pregnant it could be fatal to your unborn fetus.”

• Comfortable, clean rooms.
• Traffic noise from freeway.

“This is an older, two story hotel that was renovated in the past few years. The rooms are very clean, well-appointed and moderately styled. Located just off Highway 99, the location is fairly central, although good restaurant selection and supermarkets are 5-7 miles away. I had one of the most secluded, quiet rooms and could still hear the freeway noise at night.”

• I was able to upgrade the room without issue!
• Nothing can be said great experience.

“As I stated before I was able to upgrade the room to a suite for a small amount. This enabled my spouse to enjoy the sauna tub for her bad back. I will never be able to tell the staff how much we appreciated this convenience. When we return to Bakersfield I hope the Red Lion comes up in our bid always!”

• It was located within walking distances to restaurants. We ate at Black Angus.
• The pool and Jacuzzi needed cleaning.

“We would return to the Red Lion for a future stay. Good location for freeway travelers. The grounds were beautifully maintained. The breakfast was filling and tasted good. Nice place for the price!”

• The pool area was great!
• Room problems that didn't get fixed.

“The hotel is located in area populated with hotels and several good restaurants. The room was good sized but because of lamp placement much of it was unusable after sundown. One of the phones was inoperable and the bathroom door wouldn't close. I reported this on day one. Nothing had changed when I left on day three.”

• Spacious rooms, refrigerator & microwave. Comfortable.
• Lots of noise - uncarpeted hallway, road and parking lot and the room above.

“Not a bad hotel, especially if you're driving thorough - it's close to two highways and nearby restaurants. The rooms are large with all the amenities. The open hallway to my room had no security doors though. I disliked the noise from the hallway and parking lot. I will pick a better hotel next time.”

• Very nice pool area.
• Very unprofessional staff. Major turn off, enough to make me not want to return.

“Strange acting wireless service but good in general, great pillows and the best shower I may have ever had. The HVAC system was loud and blew right on me as I sat at the desk trying to work. And there were no plugs next to the desk or even anywhere close.”

• Showing signs of wear and tear. Bathroom door had rotted out no paint. Only had two coffee bags which made the coffee maker overflow.
