• Spacious room.
• Observed ants in bottom floor room.

“I would have nothing to complain except the ant we observed on top of the desk. I guess it's because our room floor is below ground level. The room is spacious. Front desk is nice to exchange room with two beds. Room is very well furnished.”

• Near 99 freeway, very noisy due to this, couldn't sleep well.

“The hotel itself overall is nice. I know that certain rooms are noisy and difficult to sleep well in. The noisy rooms are really noisy. Beware! If you like good sleep.”

• Hotel is older and tired; quite pleasant but no sparkle; significant highway noise in the room.

“Large, comfortable clean and nicely maintained hotel. Big room with two queen-sized beds. Only complaint is that the hotel is a bit worn and lacks a new and modern shine. Our room faced the highway and was a bit noisy. Pool was dirty too, but it was a bit too cold to swim so I imagine it wasn't being used much by the guests.”

• Comfortable bed & pillows.
• Internet access costs $9.99/night.

“Not sure if my room was cleaned when I walked in. The bed was made but the hand towel was thrown on the rack, the bath down was down on the floor, and the toilet paper was not folded like normally. Even though the bed was made, it looked like someone was sitting on it. And a key card was left on the desk.”

“We stopped at this hotel for a short night's sleep on a road trip. The super-comfy beds and pillows were just what we needed. The 3:00 am staff was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was quick and easy. I would definitely stay again.”

• Beautiful landscaping and decorating taste.
• Musty, dank rooms, could barely sleep from the smell.

“The lobby was nice and the staff friendly, but the first room was right across from the freeway ramp and smelled horrible - a musty, moldy smell. I asked for another room and received one overlooking a parking lot, the place seemed empty and there are a bunch of rooms overlooking the attractive pool area, so I was hoping for one there. There was also a slightly musty odor, but the grounds are so big and spread out I didn't feel like walking back to get another. The restaurant recommended by the front desk clerk turned out to be excellent. I loved having a sliding glass door and balcony, but a security bar would have been nice to keep it cracked while I sleep. Turns out I should have changed rooms because the smell was in the sheets, they had the same smell as my aunt's towels, I believe they don't get them in the dryer fast enough after washing them. It was unpleasant and hard to sleep with the smell in the pillowcases, I used some linen spray I kept from the first night of the trip at Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach and that helped.”

• Immediately sent engineering to my room to fix a problem.
• Saw the same dishes outside of a room when I checked in and out the next day.

• The bed was comfortable and the room attractive.
• Could not lower the room temperature. Opened the door but the freeway was too noisy you could not sleep.

“ Neither my husband or I were able to sleep as it was much too hot in the room and we were unable to turn down the heater. We opened to door to get some fresh air but the freeway traffic was very loud. It was not a pleasant experience. ”

• Large room and I loved the two sinks it made getting ready with three people much easier.
• Needs to be updated/70's motif in our room.

“Large rooms and the sink in the bathroom and one in the vanity area made getting ready a snap. They have a great night club and I would stay there again. Comfy beds.”

• Handicap room smelled extremely musty and the cooling did not work - we were moved.

• The room was very clean. I'm not a very good sleeper but the bed was so comfortable that I was able to sleep.
• Internet was only available in the room if you pay for it, it was free only in the lobby. Not enough warm cookies.

• The room is comfortable and the shower was great.
• Paying extra for internet access. Pack in the charge so I don't see it.

“This was my second visit. I enjoyed this one more. Things have changed for the better. It is cleaner and more organized. I also did not bother with the restaurant as it was overpriced and awful last time. In all fairness it too may have changed. I don't think so or my nose would have told me so.”

• I enjoyed the size of the room and the balcony.
• Our room was difficult to find, and the elevator was the slowest I have ever encountered (and there was only one in our building).

“The hotel lobby was beautiful, and the staff was really welcoming. Our room, however, was located was separate from the main area and was not accessible from the lobby, so that was a bit inconvenient. I also had a problem with the elevator being too slow. It was faster to take the stairs. Overall, however, I had a pleasant stay. My room was large and had a balcony overlooking the courtyard.”

• Hotel was easy to find, close to freeway, shopping and eateries nearby.
• Definitely not a 3 star hotel. Room was clean but not to 3 star par.

“Check in was quick, easy, and front desk clerk was friendly. I was able to park near our room. First room assigned reeked of smoke and front desk was good about changing to new room. Room was basic (not a 3 star rated room). Bathroom was basic with (old) tub and shower combo and the smallest toilet I have ever seen. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Room had balcony but no chairs. Complimentary coffee and tea was offered. Guest services book was old and some chapters are outdated. Workout room was good. Plenty of treadmills and a few circuit machines are offered. Towels and earphones are also available. The entire experience was not bad but very lack luster. Area had shopping center with Costco and a few restaurants (including fast food) are within walking distance.”

• Very comfortable bed.
• Except for the lobby, corridors, pool area, and room looked aged like a economy apartment.

“I have a very mixed opinion on this hotel. Overall I would rate it above average. Part of the hotel, such as the corridor, elevator, parking area, pool area look aged, and ugly, with signs of vandalism. Overall, however, ignoring these small visual blights, I have a comfortable stay. My friend who visited me actually like it better than the Four Square Sheraton hotel that I stayed in the month before, although I have an opposite opinion. Location is very convenient, right off the freeway and in an area with a cluster of five other 3-star hotels & several restaurants, eateries, & a gasoline station. It's also right in front of a Costco warehouse store. It's also 10 minutes away from downtown Baker field where you can find some classic diners such as 24th street cafe (serves great food).”

• The front desk service was excellent and they upgraded us to a suite for no extra charge!
• The Odyssey night club really brings down the hotel as a whole. It is really bad for business because it makes the whole experience kind of ghetto.

“The front desk (John) was great. We wanted double beds and there were none so he upgraded our room to a suite for no extra charge. He even gave us warm cookies which really topped off the whole experience!”

“Good location, easy access to Hwy 99. Rooms are clean, comfortable in a standard sense. However, the hotel is not modern. The air conditioning fan in my room made too much noise to sleep, but in 100 degree weather, turning the air conditioning off was not an option. Another sleepless night in Bakersfield.”

• The price. And the cookies they give to each traveler.
• Staff turnover.

“Staff not aware of the rooms that are dedicated for the handicapped individual. I am tired of constantly asking if the room is a handicap room and being told that it is not only to find all the amenities are near my knees. The bathroom is completely setup for someone with disabilities. Why does the front desk staff not know there facility?”

• Room smelled musty and dusty. The whole family had to take allergy pills and asthma medication.

“We had two queens. The room size was fairly large compared to competitors Ive stayed at recently. The room smelled dusty/musty and we were in the room less then 30 minutes before the four of us had to take allergy medication. We were sneezing and got stuffy noses. My husband and daughter had to take their asthma inhaler to get through the night. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The decor was a little dated. My husband loved the shower and the extra massage spray. Overall, a good experience for the money. We probably would not stay there again because of the allergy/asthma issue that could escalate if we didn't have the proper meds at hand.”
