• Easy access to freeway.
• Room was drab and carpet had black stains all over. Really disgusting.

“Hotel is OK, nothing to scream about. The bed was quite comfortable, but the room was very drab and didn't feel clean. The carpet has black stains all over and I refused to take off my socks! There were hairs in the sink when I arrived and the room had a very orderly but not totally clean feeling. It was also very strange that at check-in I was not asked for an ID, nor was I asked for a credit card for incidentals.”

• The hotel was very clean and the staff seemed to be friendly.
• Reserved non-smoking room, on my arrival I was told they no longer had any left, a walk in next to me stated she received the last non-smoking room.

“The rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly. The pool area was nice. My children loved the pool. I did reserve a non-smoking room and was stuck with a smoking room. While checking in a walk-in next to me said she just got a non-smoking room how is that possible?”

• Given us pillow choices ranging from soft to firm, with down material or synthetic.
• Our room was located directly next to the stairwell, the room was freezing cold and the outside temperature was warm, the mattresses were too soft.

“They did not offer a free continental breakfast. Room was decent. quiet and comfortable. Free wireless internet. Close to plenty of restaurants, movies, shopping. Very close to UCSB. Easy access to freeways.”

• One of the lamps doesn't work, the bed cover is dirty, it is in a remote location.

• I liked that rooms were clean.
• The water pressure was horrible in the mornings! Too much outside noise!

“The rooms were decent and clean. Beds weren't that comfortable. There was a lot of outside noise late at night from others staying at the hotel. The shower pressure was horrible as well. I took cold showers with dripping water. The staff was nice and helpful. I would not stay here again.”

• Convenient to UCSB and multiple stores and supermarkets.
• Uncomfortable beds, smokey smell in non-smoking room.

“This hotel is overpriced for the quality that you receive. Santa Barbara is an expensive area, so you don't get much for your money. I would call this hotel adequate at best. It is quite convenient to UCSB, and the Santa Barbara airport.”

• Buffet for Star wood guests was nice in the Afternoon.
• Lobby dominated by a small attempt at a casino.

“Nice rooms worth the price but a good 3 not 4 star hotel. Would have felt upscale if the lobby wasn't taken over by a small casino that was not a good place to meet or gamble.”

• The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean. The location of the pool was ideal.
• It needed more soap and shampoo and conditioner, I don't like the conditioning shampoo mix.

• Location, excellent housekeeping, Recently renovated, Beautiful landscaping.
• Loud, noisy group of college students outside rooms until late Saturday night.

“Very nice Holiday Inn, although over 30 years old, maintained and renovated in excellent condition. Good sound proofing between rooms and updated thermostatic temperature controls. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and other shopping necessities, with easy access to 101 freeways. Room decor was very nice; tub was replaced by large stall shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water! Lighting over vanity in our room was not adequate; one 2 foot fluorescent tube. Not good for make-up or shaving. Excellent room housekeeping and grounds maintenance, beautiful pool area and outside bar.”

• Old property, bad location, dark, dingy rooms.

“Not at all a two star hotel. Old motor-inn style hotel with no interior hallways. Very noisy you can hear the person next door using the bathroom. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Room was moderately clean. Pool was clean and warm with lots of chairs/seating. It is far away from everything in Santa Barbara. Noisy, somewhat sketchy area of town. Very nice staff was only redeeming quality.”

“I wasn't expecting much from the hotel. We just needed a place to stay for 1 night, close to Santa Barbara. We ended up being pleasantly surprised. The hotel's location was very convenient to the freeway and only a short drive to downtown Santa Barbara. The bathrooms in the rooms were recently renovated and look more like a bathroom you'd find in a 4 star hotel. The only drawback was the noise level. We were next to the pool and kids were playing in the pool until at least 10pm. We could also easily hear the people in the room next door.”

“Went to Santa Barbara for a concert; this hotel far met my expectations. Newly decorated room, very clean and comfortable. No outside noise, wireless internet was nice and the bed and pillows were very comfortable! Highly recommend for family and business travelers.”

“Hotel stay the first night was awful, there was a high school sporting event and all of the teams were staying at the hotel. It did not get quiet enough the first night to fall asleep until 3 am. However after speaking to the hotel manager they moved us to a different room the second night which was much quieter.”

• Everything. Dirty, paper thin walls, construction, poor service.

“This hotel has rooms that look decent, however the walls are thin and nothing is cleaned well. The toilet seat looked clean but the toilet bowl looked like it hadn't been wiped in a year. We could hear our neighbor hacking up a storm in the next room and anyone who walks past your door sounds like they're walking into your room. Really poor! I would never go back to this hotel. This is not a 2-1/2 star hotel.”

• Conveniently located near my intended destination.
• There was no heat in my room for my 1st nights stay.

“When I checked into my room I asked for an upgrade. I was advised upgrades were not available to me. During my stay I determined my room had no heat. I called the front desk and was advised that a move could not happen till the following day. The following day I lost 3 hours from my vacation schedule because of the move. We asked for two double beds. The room we moved into had a king and a fold out. Not acceptable. During the 1st nights stay there were trains that sounded their horn at 9:45PM at 11:35PM and again at 6:15AM. Upon check out I asked for a receipt for my records. This was out of the question per desk clerk. I have never been treated like 2nd class citizen in my life. This will not ever happen again.”

• Convenient to wine tasting with great freeway access.
• No elevator.

“Traveler Holiday Inn with the best staff ever! Rooms are clean nicely decorated and they will supply a refrigerator if needed. No pets allowed lots of parking. Pool area is great, clean and fenced (no lifeguard). Freeway accessible with stores and restaurants locally. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.”

• Still renovating it. Needs paint on sidewalk, sheets did not fit on our bed.

“I was disappointed with our room. Our sheets did not fit our bed, and kept coming off all night! The property needs some sprucing up. They are finishing some painting, remodeling etc, but need to finish it up. I was expecting more for a 2 1/2 star motel.”

• I could feel the spring in the bed, other than the tile in the bathroom, the decor was ugly.

“The front desk staff was very nice. I did not tell them about my disappointment. There was nothing they could have done. I had higher expectations for a Holiday Inn, and for the amount of money I was spending. It was my impression that a Holiday Inn would be a step up from Motel 6.”
