“I would say this hotel less than a one star rating. The room smelled bad, there was old food left under bed, mattress was hard and lumpy, volume control did not work on TV, no closet- racks on wall in bathroom, water damage not repaired on bathroom ceiling, bath tub/shower old and needed work, just overall old and dirty.” Aug 4, 2009 by
Courtney from Visalia,CA
“This hotel was worse than I could have imagined. My husband is convinced that people live in this hotel on a permanent basis. It had that smell of poverty and desperation. The bathtub was stained in ways that made me think of the horrible acts usually saved for the bathtubs of places such as this (think: dismemberment). I am fairly certain that I picked up crabs from the what appeared to be semen-stained bedspread. The management was rude and there is no wireless internet. The parking lot is tiny.” May 11, 2009 by
John Moran from Hanford,CA
“Clean friendly comfortable not fair from downtown.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Anh from Long Beach, CA
“It was fairly cute compared to other 1 star hotels. No pool, but it they really kept the place clean. It was peaceful; no kids running around and people were friendly.” May 28, 2008 by
Hoa from San Diego, CA
“The hotel room smelled like motor oil. The vanity light at the sink burnt out. The drain for the sink was clogged.” Nov 27, 2007 by
Philip from Palm Desert, CA
“Bathroom window was not lockable. Unsafe due to ground floor location. Did not feel that bathroom was clean. I would not stay there again.” Oct 2, 2007 by
Dan from Riverside, CA
“Right off of the 101 and 1 highways, very clean, well lit and was very, very quiet for a weekend.” Jul 23, 2007 by
Brad from Clovis, CA
“Rooms are in need of updating. Don't expect a clean fresh smell when you walk into the rooms. They are very old and in need a thorough cleaning. The continental breakfast is very minimal with packaged pastries, coffee, and juice. However, the hotel is conveniently located next to highway 101.” Jul 19, 2007 by
Christine from Concord, CA
“It was ok for a one night stay. Very little in the way of vending machines. There were no tea bags so if your not a coffee drinker your out of luck. I thought there was a continental breakfast but there was nothing served and that may have been a error on my part.” Jul 4, 2007 by
Paul from Irvine, CA
“Not even good for a 1 star. I would not recommend it at any price. Patio furniture in the bathroom. Poor lighting in bathroom. You had to hang your clothes below the towel rack in the bathroom and long garments folded up.” Jun 27, 2007 by
Lisa from Pollock Pines, CA
“Would not stay at this property again due to lack of cleanliness.” May 29, 2007 by
Scott from Longview, WA
“This was a decent deal.” May 29, 2007 by
John from Louisville, CO
“This iconology is well-kept and comfortable. The hotel is located conveniently near downtown sol. Access to and from el Camino real (highway 101) is excellent in the southbound direction and very good in the northbound direction. Wireless internet access is not available in the rooms.” Apr 26, 2007 by
Hilda from Napa, CA
“I am glad that I did not pay a lot to stay there.” Apr 23, 2007 by
Virginia from Mission Viejo, CA
“This hotel was disgustingly. Smelly both with severe smoke smell and skunk smells (which they probably couldn't help the skunks). Manager was not at all helpful with any of our concerns. Said a non-smoking room was available for a substantial increase in fee - otherwise they were booked. This felt extremely dishonest! Wound up leaving this motel and looking for another hotel room because of their inability to accommodate our needs for a non-smoking room. Econo lodge also said they would still charge us even though we chose not to stay due to their not accommodating our needs. We have traveled the world & have not ever been met with this dishonest/disinterested service provider! Got another room across the street from this hotel. It was the Ramada on olive sty. They were very accommodating and helpful for our extremely short stay.” Apr 21, 2007 by
Mark T. from Petaluma, CA
“Should have spent $20 more for a far better place than this converted motel 6.” Apr 4, 2007 by
Susan from Visalia, CA
“This room, at a very reasonable price, surpassed our expectations. The bed was so comfortable, the bathroom had amenities such as shampoo and a shower with a strong flow, the decor and wall art was lovely, and there was even a refrigerator and microwave! Also, the staff was very friendly. We'll be back!” Mar 18, 2007 by
Donna from El Sobrante, CA
“If you want easy freeway access, this is the motel for you. Despite its proximity to the freeway, it was very quiet in the room. The rooms were clean and had a microwave and mini fridge which was quite nice for a one star motel. Very convenient for those visiting cal poly.” Feb 27, 2007 by
Helen from Renton, WA
“Hotel personnel not very professional. Had to run back and forth three times to exchange electronic room key - door lock was mal-function - had to change room. Shower mechanism in one of the room was broken - could not take shower. Would not stay there again.” Jan 12, 2007 by
Barbara from Paso Robles, CA
“It is a good quality for the price. Clean and comfortable rooms but not fancy, although they did have ferriages and microwaves in the rooms. The bed was very comfy.” Sep 26, 2006 by
Anthony from Bonita, CA
“At the hotel, I was given preferential treatment by the staff as I called ahead and requested a late check-in. I was given a downstairs unit at my request and the first and most accessible room off the parking entrance. I like the fact that the check out time was 11:00 am giving the traveler more time to get organized in the morning. Food restaurants were less than a block away and I was able to get a glass of wine close by which after a long drive was needed and appreciated.” Sep 24, 2006 by
Tyran from Turlock, CA
“It was a neat, clean, family friendly motel. Convenient freeway access, the phones in the room did not allow outgoing calls, however, and we were forced to make calls from the lobby. Beds were fairly comfortable and it was convenient to have a little refrigerator and microwave in the room as well. Even though the freeway is very close to the motel, we had no problem sleeping as it was a fairly quiet place.” Sep 7, 2006 by
Barbara from Chico, CA
“It was conveniently located off the freeway but at the rate of $144 per night for a double queen bed it was extremely expensive! The room needed many repairs to the flooring in the bathroom and venting as well as the air conditioning unit. The bathtub did not hold water so my children had to take showers (not good if you have little ones). The breakfast consisted of small Danishes individually wrapped from Costco and coffee or juice. A more reasonable rate would have $60 - $ 80 per night. We would not stay at this site again.” Aug 31, 2006 by
John from Modesto, CA
“A little high priced for what it is. But all the hotels in this area are. It was ok for a 1 to 2 day stay. They need to put 4 towels in the room if you have two people staying and more if there are kids.” Apr 15, 2006 by
Tatiana from Los Altos, CA
“Just OK. We were late to find a hotel, so I can't complain about the availability. Definitely a one-star, but very clean and furnishings were in good shape. Rugs and bedspread clean and fresh. Spacious room. ” Mar 8, 2006 by
Doug from Seattle, WA
“Very basic hotel. Clean and adequate. Nothing to write home about.” Feb 28, 2006 by
Margaret from Berkeley, CA
“This hotel is what you would expect for the price. It was sufficiently clean and safe. Downtown SLO is not within walking distance. The area around the hotel is populated with gas stations and fast food. The hotel is off a freeway on-ramp, so there was a lot of fast-moving traffic outside. This is a place for weary drivers to stay for a night, but it's not conducive to doing things in SLO.” Nov 30, 2004 by
James F. from Fremont “The Econo Lodge SLO was extremely average. While our room was clean its contents seemed fatigued from use. Except for a brochure-rack by one wall, the lobby was absolutely bare -- emblematic of the place, in a way. Having said all that however, we'd probably consider the Econo Lodge SLO on a future trip to the area. Consider it among others, I mean. Again, it wasn't a bad place, nor very good. Just very, very average.”
