“We'll be back next year.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Pamela from Pacific Grove, CA
“Surroundings were beautiful but inconvenient to walk to town center. very noisy. TV was about 13 inch screen. Took 3 changes to get one that worked marginally.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Heathre from Santa Monica, CA
“We returned to the Cambria Pine Lodge in September because we had a pleasant experience when we stayed there in May. In the spring, they had beautiful, romantic gardens and the resort was peaceful and relaxing. However, the staff was rude and unhelpful. But we decided to return again in September because the gardens and the atmosphere of the grounds made up for the lack of hospitality from the staff. After our September stay, we will not ever return to the Cambria Pine Lodge. The staff was even ruder; the walls and ceiling (we had a downstairs room) were so thin we could hear every TV that was on around us. Our TV in the bedroom didn't have a matching remote; we had 2 remotes for the TV in the living area but no remote for the TV in the bedroom. We could hear every single step the people above us made-it even shook our furniture! When we arrived: there were dirty coffee cups at our front door (they were still there when we checked out the next day); the furniture was rearranged as if a party had just vacated our room; there was hair in the bathroom sink, shower and on the bathroom counter. I was very disappointed because this was such a lovely resort the last time we stayed here, with the exception of the staff. The next time we visit Cambria, we will try one of the many other quaint hotels, B&Bs or lodges that are more conveniently located in town.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Suzanne from Sonoita, AZ
“Great location, convenient and quite getaway for family or romantic break. Great price roomy, clean quiet and lovely cottage - not super luxurious but a wonderful homey comfortable stay.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Naphtali from Lakewood, NJ
“Great location directly between San Francisco and LA along Highway 1 and 10 minutes from Hearst Castle. Free internet was a nice unexpected bonus in a wilderness setting (not wireless) very picturesque and the breakfast was great. Beautiful outdoor heated pool. The bathroom could use a little help it's a sort of industrial one with plastic walls and dim lighting.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Michael from Baldwin Park, CA
“The hotel is situated a top a hill over looking Downtown Cambria. The surroundings were very beautiful on and off the hotel site. The hotel is very close to shopping and the beach, as well as, 6 miles from Hearst Castle. My wife and I, as well as, my mother-in-law had a great experience.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Marion from Bakersfield, CA
“We loved it and are planning to go back soon. The grounds are absolutely beautiful.” Jun 27, 2008 by
Patricia from Vebtyra, CA
“It's worth the stay just to see the gardens. They are incredible. The location was close to town yet far enough away so you didn't have the noise or all the people.” Jun 24, 2008 by
Dan
“I liked everything about this hotel except that there was no air conditioning in the room and no fans. It may be true that for 95% of the year they don't need air conditioning but if you happen to be there in the summer and it is hot then the room can be unbearable. We actually had one person sleep on the floor by the open door to try and get cooler. If you visit this area and there is any chance it will be hot - do not stay at a hotel without air conditioning!” May 1, 2008 by
Derek from Aptos, CA
“The rooms were very nice with a balcony looking out over pine trees. The room had a fireplace with kitchenette. The pool was very warm and clean. And the included breakfast was great. I will stay here again.” Apr 17, 2008 by
Tana from Fresno, CA
“This hotel was wonderful. Beautiful location, gardens and nursery. The restaurant was nice and the room was spacious. There is no A.C. in the room so it can get a little hot, but not bad. I would recommend this hotel.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Pam from Monrovia, CA
“This is a wonderful "get away" hotel. The restaurant was excellent for dinner, the staff friendly and the gardens and grounds beautiful. It is close to town and the beach and the room was large and comfortable and quiet. I will definitely return to this hotel.” Apr 3, 2008 by
John from Anaheim, CA
“The hotel was clean with nice surroundings. More than I had expected.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Elizabeth from Burbank, CA
“Excellent. The staff was great with the exception of the evening person who could not give us replacement batteries for the remote. The server at dinner was friendly, the food was great at dinner, so-so at breakfast but it was hot! The rooms were roomy but a bit worn. The surroundings were fabulous, loved the gardens!” Mar 24, 2008 by
Betty O. from Antelope, CA
“did not expect much just a rest on our way to Disney land Anaheim Hilton it was rated a 2 star but it was so pretty when you drive up with all the flowers and gardens so then I so then we stared thinking the room would be crap wrong again it had a fireplace in the room and two queen beds nice pool and spa area the only complaint we had the guy at desk forgot to mention free breakfast which is not to be missed and then stroll the gardens wish we could have stayed longer.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Carolina from Newport Beach, CA
“The new rooms are wonderful! The staff was very nice upon the request of getting into the newly remodeled rooms and it's worth asking. The hotel is charming and clean and overall will stay there again in a heartbeat.” Nov 29, 2007 by
Arlene from Laguna Hills, CA
“The surroundings are beautiful. The hotel is surrounded by fragrant pine trees. The beds were Tempur-Pedic. Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was a 10/10! We stayed an extra day to enjoy the serenity of the town.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Carey from Fresno, CA
“The Cambria pines gardens could not have been more beautiful. The grounds were spotless. The room was clean and had a fireplace, but was upstairs and no elevator was available. The noise from the nearby lounge was horrible, and lasted until after midnight each night of my stay. I would not recommend the hotel because of the noise. I would visit the restaurant and the gardens, but would stay someplace quieter, with an elevator and air conditioning.” Sep 11, 2007 by
Todd from Newbury Park, CA
“Romantic & family friendly.” Jul 29, 2007 by
Carol from Westminster, CA
“The grounds and accommodations are wonderful at Cambria Pines Lodge. It is private and a very peaceful place to vacation.” Jul 29, 2007 by
Tom from Camarillo, CA
“The gardens are beautiful but the old; motel-quality room and poor service were not worth the price. When checking in it was hard to catch the attention of the staff who were in the back room chatting. They didn't seem to have time or interest in helping me or answering my questions. The breakfast was over-crowded and I couldn't find any staff to pay for the breakfast. The room seemed like an old motel, especially the bathroom area. The room carpet and bathroom vinyl flooring were probably clean but seemed old and dirty. The toilet was crooked; the lighting in the bathroom was dim. The beds and pillows were not comfortable. There was no air conditioning or internet service. Not a good value for the low quality room and service. At check out they did give a 50% discount coupon for certain off-season dates within the next 5 months. It would have been a good value if I could have used that coupon for my stay. I don't think I'll stay there again.” Jul 28, 2007 by
G from Santa Maria, CA
“Its most important to ask for a newer or remodeled room, the room we were in had wall heaters old and worn, the bedspreads were worn and used, the bathroom closet and dirt stains and black mark, there was almost no nature light, the light provided was just one lamp that gave bad lighting. Been there before in a new room. If they were not full we would have ask for a refund and stayed some where else.” Jul 15, 2007 by
Cd from Kerman, CA
“Beautiful setting, gardens and walking paths are nicely done; too bad the room wasn't up to our expectations.” Jun 21, 2007 by
Sara from Encinitas, CA
“The hotel was a pleasant surprise. Attractive with a chain of beautiful, romantic gardens. The staff was friendly and the room was spacious, attractive and comfortable. Close to hearts castle - which you must visit.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Derrick from Ventura, CA
“We enjoyed all there was to enjoy there and it was convenient to the town. Very romantic place, serene and it was surrounded by beautiful trees. The staff was very friendly and everything was great, except the toilet not being set straight. Seems like the floor might have been on a huge slant.” Jun 1, 2007 by
Darrel from Omaha, NE
“Nice, clean place, very friendly staff, neighborhood was not the best.” Apr 18, 2007 by
Linda from Plano, TX
“After a long, tiring day of traveling, my husband and I were greeted cheerfully and were checked-in quickly. We arrived after the dining room was closed, but were invited to have a late snack in the lounge where karioki night was taking place. We enjoyed a glass of wine, some fried zuccini and the local singing talent, after which we went to our room, refreshed and relaxed. We lit the fire log in the fireplace and had some quiet time before turning in. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast in the dining room overlooking the garden. Following the garden path behind our room, I finally came to the crossing to the garden nursery shop across the road. Note: the crossing is not very safe on foot. It is recommended to drive there and the hotel staff will gladly give directions. The garden center is well worth the extra few minutes. My only lament was that we traveled by air and I was limited to only buying seeds. Cambria Pines Lodge-highly recommended and we hope to return there soon.” Feb 22, 2007 by
Ken from Belmont, CA
“Was very impressed with the grounds and the great atmosphere of the hotel.” Feb 6, 2007 by

“There are many things to do for adults and children in this hotel, it has romantic scenes, cute trails leading to the village, and very serene. It feels very spiritual.” Jan 6, 2007 by
Karen from Lake Forest, CA
“The hotel was very pleasant. The atmosphere of the entire facility always reminds you that you are on vacation.” Jan 2, 2007 by
Mac from Galena, IL
“The hotel is located off the highway in a quiet neighborhood, surrounded by pine forest and extensive gardens. The staff is friendly and efficient, the restaurant is excellent and the breakfast buffet of hot entrees outstanding. The rooms are old and show the wear of a long time resort but are clean and adequate.” Dec 28, 2006 by
Paul from Laguna Niguel, CA
“A very good experience.” Nov 15, 2006 by
Barbara from Santa Ana, CA
“Wonderful. I would recommend it to others. I would come back any time.” Sep 20, 2006 by
Larry from Azusa, CA
“The restaurant was a plus that I didn't expect, the lodge was quite, relaxing, the entertainment in the main lodge was also a plus I didn't expect. I will return someday” Aug 17, 2006 by
Kimberly from Hacienda Heights, CA
“Place is so clean air and quite. Workers are very kindly. I'll try to next time too.” Aug 14, 2006 by
Michael from Los Angeles
“Had high expectations based upon the website. Stayed Friday - Sunday, and three weddings took place during that time. Intoxicated guests could be heard throughout the night yelling in the parking lots. Broken beer bottles and glasses in the gardens and parking lot were not cleaned up by noon the next day. We had a downstairs room, and every move and word coming from the upstairs room could be heard. The walls are paper-thin, and the plumbing system is very loud. Buffet breakfast is adequate, Spartan, and flavorless and is the only option. While sightseeing, we came across many other smaller properties that far surpassed this one. Do not be misled by the very creative photos and copy in the website - definitely a work of marketing and fiction.” Aug 10, 2006 by
Rick from Clovis, CA
“Very nice, but next time I would book either a cottage, or an upstairs room.” Jul 24, 2006 by
Maurice from Santa Rosa, CA
“I was pleasantly surprised with the setting, the price and the free breakfast buffet.” Jul 22, 2006 by

“I enjoyed my few days here. The atmosphere was very nice, beautiful, and clean. The food was good as well.” Jul 13, 2006 by
Marilyn from Valencia, CA
“This hotel was very romantic and met and far exceeded any and all expectations. The staff was very accommodating and made our anniversary celebration very special with some personal touches. They also gave us a choice of rooms when we asked and even gave us a deal too.” Jun 25, 2006 by
Joann from Indio, CA
“Very romantic, woodsy hotel with beautiful gardens and GREAT food at the restaurant! The filet mignon was better than the one I had at Mortons the previous weekend! I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.” Apr 17, 2006 by
Hillary from Fountain Valley, CA
“Cambria is a beautiful area on the central coast of California. This lodge is located in a quiet neighborhood and is surrounded by lush gardens. A steep stairway leads to the village below for elegant dining and delightful shopping experiences. This is a great home base for a central coast adventure including elephant seals, Hearst Castle, Morro Bay and the small fishing villages of Cayucos and Avila Beach as well as the wine tasting regions of Edna Valley and Paso Robles. Talosa Winery in the Edna Valley is a must see.” Mar 31, 2006 by
Kris from Petaluma, CA
“Set in a beautiful location, this hotel offers opportunities to enjoy gardens, flowers, and wonderful walks. The accommodations were more than adequate, the restaurant cozy, and the ample free breakfast was delicious.”
