• People friendly and helpful.
• Air conditioner blew at one speed only. There was a high, medium and low, but all worked the same.

• I only stayed for one night.
• Smelly, hot, old and staff said all rooms were full when hotel was mostly empty due to remodeling.

“The Red Lion hotel is old and smelly. It was a three in 1970 but age has taken it' toll and overall a step above Motel 6.”

• The feature that you have to insert your hotel key in a slot and leave it in the slot in order for the light and TV to work.

“Over-all it was ok for a one night stay. Because the sink light would turn off automatically and very quickly unless I left the key in the slot.”

• Could put another trash can in bathroom. Shower head could have a better pattern of spray.

• The bed was very comfortable. It had a sink/mirror in the shower room and another in closet area.
• Air conditioning system noisy. Poor service in restaurant.

“Although a little tricky to get to the hotel, it had a very comfortable bed and was a nice clean room. The hotel staff (with exception of the restaurant) was very pleasant and helpful.”

• Front desk clerk was very service/customer oriented.
• Don't expect service in the restaurant or a well maintained room.

“The Red Lion is a dump. Everything is under construction, remote wasn't working, restaurant can be empty. You have to go to the front desk to call and have someone come into the restaurant and wait on you, room was not overly clean, even though I was checking out that day housekeeping knocked on my door before 8:30 AM.”

• Easy access to room from car, several pools, ceiling fan, real crib, glassware (not plastic cups) in room.
• No queen beds - double only. My wife and I had to share a double.

“We stayed here for 1 night because our air conditioning was being replaced and it was 108 degrees outside. It was fine. Rooms are somewhat small but comfortable and clean. I was hoping for 2 queens for my wife and I and our daughter, but they only had 2 doubles, so we got that, and they brought a real crib (not a pack & play) for our baby. Bathroom had a shower, no tub. The room had a ceiling fan which is nice. The hotel is kind of a cluster of motels, with many rooms that you can drive right up to and park, which for us was very handy.”

• Below my room, there was a group of partners and the music kept me up all night. I don't understand why as half of the hotel is empty.

• Everything worked and the beds were very comfortable.
• Had trouble with the room keys on one occasion.

“I will go back and would recommend it to anyone. The Staff was very helpful, the Room was very nice, right next to the pool, everything worked and went off with out a hitch.”

• The staff was friendly.
• I could hear the freeway from my room even with the windows shut.

“My overall stay was nice and quiet even though there was a number of sports groups stay at the hotel during my visit. The hotel is right next to a freeway, so there was freeway noise that could be heard from my room even with the windows closed. The room was nice, clean and comfortable.”

• The hotel was very peaceful and quiet.
• The one night I ordered room service they forgot an item ordered and my empty tray stayed outside of my room for too long.

• Very friendly cleaning lady.
• WiFi did not work in my building, lots of construction, broken locks.

“Good location, however it appears that up to completion of construction - when? - Everyone staying there can expect some hurdles. Had trouble connecting with WiFi, broken lock at door. Employees were kind and eager to help yet still valuable time was lost. Then after all was double billed for time there and by now am rather frustrated with the location and hope it will be done with renovation confusion soon. Until then they should offer rooms for a way more reduced rate or be fair enough to speed up the construction process by closing the property as long as it is going on and really focus on it.”

• The price and the room quality.
• The fact that there is a major renovation in progress.

“I enjoyed my stay at this hotel very much. In fact, I have stayed here recently quite often. The rooms are very nice and some even have energy conservation features. The air conditioning is great and my room even had a ceiling fan. The pool and spa are nice. The service is great. There is a major renovation going on so many of the common areas have construction ongoing. If you can over look this, you will enjoy 3 star rooms that are less expensive than most 1 star accommodation in the area.”

• Good mattresses.
• Decor was outdated and shower/tub old and gritty.

“This hotel was undergoing a remodel and renovation when I visited. All the grounds were dug up and place looked like a construction site. It was hard to read the building numbers at night. On the other hand it was cinco de mayo and the hotel was fully booked. I hope I had one of the older rooms because it looks like it will be a nice place after all the remodeling is done. I traveled with a volleyball team and the team was treated very well; staff was very accommodating.”

• The room has just been redone and the beds are very comfortable.
• No tubs.

“This hotel is in the middle of a major remodel so many areas are not that attractive. However, the rooms are very nice. The prices are very low now because of the work going on. The staff is very friendly. We enjoyed both the heated pool and the Jacuzzi.”

“Old somewhat rundown hotel in the midst of a renovation. Multiple 2-story buildings laid out somewhat haphazardly. Advertises wireless, but it wasn't available in our room. Our non-smoking room had low-level background smoke, but was otherwise clean.”

• There was one hotel staff member that was not friendly and fairly rude.

“The Red Lion Sacramento was a good enough place. I would stay there again. There is construction in the main building which I would hope gets fixed soon and there was only one Jacuzzi that we could find. It was close to the mall so you could go get food and do something other then hang out in your room which was nice and the rooms were clean. I wish they had 2 queens instead of Full beds and that the pillows were a little nicer and softer.”

• It is in a convenient location. Beside the mall and off of the freeway.
• It was motel style, unclean, and under construction.

“The staff was very nice and helpful; however, I expected more from a 2 and a half star hotel. The place looked like it was falling apart. There was construction tape all over. We commented that it looked like a crime scene. I'm sure it will look better when the work is done, but for now it is not in good condition.”

• Location was convenient to downtown and shopping.
• A mother traveling alone with 4 daughters was sent to the back corner of the hotel at night in the dark.

“Comfortable, clean and convenient. We were pleased with our visit. Even though renovations were in progress, it was quiet where we were. Room size adequate. Perfect for a one night stay with children. Located walking distance to the Arden Fair Mall.”

“I had stayed at this hotel about a year and a half ago. At that time the rooms were rather dreary and very dated. This time my experience was quite different. My room had been totally redone and was very attractive and fresh. I had a wonderful location that faced a courtyard, the large pool and the back of the lobby. Even though the grounds were not completed, I enjoyed sitting outside on a small patio in the beautiful sunshine. The nightclub was open but there was no entertainment or dancing. This hotel has a promising future once the much needed renovations are completed!”

• Older, "dingier" facility but is undergoing renovation.

“Good, quiet, clean hotel. Friendly staff. Facility itself is "dated" (i.e., old, worn outdoor carpeting on external walkways). Very visible security personnel, "24/7", so you always felt safe. Nicely decorated room with remote-controlled ceiling fan. Hotel appearance will improve once the ongoing renovations are complete.”

• The property is a wreck.

“This is nowhere close to the other 3-star hotels in the Sacramento Area. The staff seems friendly, but the general atmosphere is gloomy and the amenities are substandard.”
