• The pillows & bed were great.
• Charging for internet is ridiculous.

“This is a very nice hotel. Parking a bit inconvenient & expensive at $13/day and a half block away. Room was not cramped and had a nice view of the city. Shower was excellent. I like convenience, though, and it is more convenient for me to have free internet in my room and be able to fetch my own carrying rack for my luggage. But I was forbidden to do so unless a bellboy was attached. This adds extra charges because you feel obligated to tip. Having to go to the lobby for free internet was also very inconvenient. You have to pay $10/day for internet in your room.”

• Parking was a challenge and expensive. Arrived at 4 pm on a Sunday and had a difficult time finding dining open.

• Central location, friendly staff, flat screen TV.
• No extra blankets in room, dirty coffee cups, tiny pool and no hot tub.

“The staff was very nice, the hotel lobby and restaurants were nice. The room was a good size with a great flat panel TV. They put us in a lower room so we had a view of the restaurant roof. The coffee cup lids were dirty, but they did have individual size packets of Starbucks Coffee and some tea. I have recently stayed in a few really nice 4 star hotels and this wasn't quite as good as the others and I had to pay more for it. The pool area was tiny and had no hot tub. But the gym was incredible. It is in walking distance to a mall but you have to walk through an interesting area to get there (it's worth driving to the Arden Fair Mall and not walking to this one). Just beyond the mall is the Old Town Sacramento with the Railroad Museum. The Capital also is just a couple blocks from the hotel. Parking was very expensive. It was a nice place to stay just not quite as great as I expected of a 4 star.”

• Nice hotel. Good location if you need to be in Downtown Sacramento.
• Parking is terrible, traffic bad on a weekend so probably worse on weekday.

“Overall the hotel is nice. I found the parking situation abysmal. The area to drop off in front of the hotel is tiny and many times people are forced to double park blocking the flow of street traffic. It also makes you feel rushed to get in and out of your car. The valet parking is at this same spot which congests things even more. I found the valet service terrible. First of all upon arrival I, as the driver (a female), was ignored and the staff chose to only address the male in the group (my father). This in my opinion is unacceptable and I told the hotel staff this. Although there was no indication that anything was ever done about it. On another instance, we called down to have our car brought around. We were advised it would be 15 minutes. After wait over 30 minutes we discovered that we were not even in the queue for pick up. Either the message had not been passed along by the person who answered the phone or? It took another 10 to 15 minutes for it to finally arrive. Again, terrible service. Be aware that there is major construction on the I-5 through Downtown Sacramento and this may cause some serious delays in getting around. Closures, detours and stopped/congested traffic are common place so give yourself plenty of time to get where ever you are going. Until construction is completed if you don't need to stay in the Downtown area I would avoid it!”

• I like the room upgrade with a great view on the city.
• Breakfast Buffet was terrible.

“This is nice place to stay for a business trip. Staff was very nice with me and the upgrade to a preferred guest room is very appreciated. One big downside, the breakfast buffet was awful.”

• The Lobby and Public Area's where nice.

“The staff was friendly and helpful, and the Lobby area was nice. But, the rooms are really lacking when it comes to being a 4 star Hotel. I could get the same type of room at a cheaper Hotel. Outside there was a lot of homeless people. Not a good place to take children, and probably not safe for a single female, especially at night. Ill be staying in a different location, next time I visit Sacramento.”

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sacramento. It's walking distance to many places and the beds are comfy. It only took 15 minutes to arrive there from the airport. The cleaning staff is efficient and the hallways are quiet and rooms come with Plasma TV's.”

• I was disappointed they did not offer breakfast in their restaurant.

“The Hotel is located in a very safe area of Sacramento so walking around at night is no problem. Overall the amenities of the facilities were first class. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and clean.”

“Excellent hotel, we were very pleased with its cleanliness. It was very up to date in decor, very clean and quite pleasing. The only complaint would be the bed was not very comfortable. Other than that, I would most certainly stay there again and recommend it to friends and family.”

• No concierge available at times.

“This is an older hotel but very nicely kept, and is in an excellent location, within walking distance of Old Sacramento riverfront attractions and the restaurant/theatre district. Great amenities (e.g. giant rear screen TV; fabulous beds and bedding). I'd happily stay there again.”

• The bed was very comfortable.
• I felt the staff could have been a little nicer.

“Be prepared! There are no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms. You must have room service or stop and pick up your meals before returning to the room. Call ahead of time and verify that you are getting the complimentary breakfast as promised on the phone the night before. Be prepared also not to receive smiles from anyone except the Bell Hopper. Additionally be prepared to wait 25 minutes to take the elevator up when there is a convention across the street.”

• The only thing I can think of is the soda machine was out of order.

“We hadn't had very good start to our trip as our new car had been hit and our niece broke her arm in the soccer game we had gone to Sacramento to watch. When we checked in the gentleman that helped us was very sympathetic and wanted to do whatever he could to make the rest of our stay better.”

• Very friendly staff-knew a lot about local kid attractions.
• There was hair on the walls in the bathtub/shower-gross!

“This hotel was very close to the California St Train Museum, which was our destination. It was close to a lot of great restaurants but they were mostly closed after 5 - 6 pm. Easy to maneuver in a wheelchair. Super staff interaction with our 5 1/2 year old boy!”

• The hotel staff was very slow to respond to our request for a crib.

“Pros: Good location, clean room, comfy beds, nice linens, decent bathroom, and nice room service kids' menu. Cons: Slow staff response time. Pool is pathetic. No views of the capitol (such as the Hyatt can boast). Thin walls (we could hear all the high schoolers in the hotel.”

• Checking out they took forever to remove an incorrect charge, waited 15 minutes as bell boy flirted with two women in lobby next to desk.

• Staff unconcerned with guest happiness.

“Hotel is in good location. Having stayed at both, Hyatt is a better choice. Rooms are clean for the most part. What ruined this hotel for me was the room service staff. My husband and young son searched the whole hotel for a vending machine that was stocked. The vending machines (every one) were empty so we ended up having to pay room service $10 for 2 cokes. Staff unconcerned with our dilemma with the vending machines and basically told us tough luck. We'll be staying at the Hyatt from now on. Bummer for Sheraton, I hope the price of 2 sodas was worth losing a frequent guest.”

• Room was plain and noisy. No spa.

“The hotel is well situated across the convention center and close to the Capitol. The lounge downstairs is a great bar and meeting place for late evenings. But our room was "plain" and pretty noisy. We are not likely to stay there again.”

• I liked the location (convenient) and I liked the soaps and shampoos.
• My room was not clean at all.

“I got to my room to settle in and the bed looked lumpy and not well folded. Then I went to the rest room and saw that the floor had not even been swept (lots of hair and TP bits on the floor) and the tub looked unwired all together. I called down and asked for housekeeping to come, and they did help w/ the bathroom but not the bed. I went to make some tea before bed and the coffee maker still had the grinds from the guest before me in it. Then I crawled into bed and looked over to see a very black hair in bed w/ me. (I am very blonder so it wasn't mine) I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room.”

“The valet parking was the beginning of being treated like royalty. The hotel has an excellent location for discovering other parts of the city. The hotel, bed, service, and atmosphere were excellent.”

• Located in a convenient location/area downtown.
• Not a four star hotel by any means. Stairs were difficult to use because of location.

“This hotel is not a four star hotel. It was nice but not four star nice. The rooms were clean and simple. The reception staff was not immediately available at check in and checks out. We had to wait. There was a YMCA convention there and the four elevators were backed up in some cases up to a half- hour. We were on the 20th floor so we choose to take the stairs down and the stairs were located in a area that was difficult to access due to the YMCA convention.”

“I was very happy with my stay at the Sheraton-Grand. The room was attractive, clean and very quiet. The bed had crisp white sheets and a duvet. I slept great! There was complimentary Tazo tea and Starbucks coffee in the room. The room service was fast and wonderfully delicious. The staff was extremely polite. The only thing I was disappointed in was that the description of the hotel stated free Wi-Fi, but this is only in the hotel lobby and only for a 'complementary' 45 minutes. In the room, it was pay only via a cable connection. I felt this was misleading but I would still recommend the hotel. It's location in the downtown of Sacramento can't be beat, its right across from the Convention Center.”

• Great location (not the safest area at night), beautifully restored old building.
• Carpet and upholstery in my room was in need of cleaning.

“I have business by the capital several times per year and this is by far my favorite hotel to stay at. Very close to the convention center and the capital. The building has been beautifully restored and the staff has always been helpful. Unfortunately, like so many hotels the lighting in the bathroom is not good to apply makeup.”
