• Amazing location - you can walk to Old Sacramento and the mall is two steps away!
• My room did not have a microwave or refrigerator.

“This is a great hotel, very conveniently located just off the 5. Starbucks is just around the corner in the mall if you don't want to eat the breakfast at the hotel, and there is plenty to do within walking distance. The parking garage is right across the way; it is a public parking garage so it was a little more difficult to get in and out, but with self park you only pay $12 a day as long as you get your ticket validated at the hotel.”

• Upscale, beautiful decor. Pleasant wall colors.
• Tub drain was badly clogged. Staff said they would take care of it but did not.

“Beautiful decor throughout with clean room and firm beds. The pool was a bit boring though. Your basic rectangle. The shower drain was clogged. Mentioned to staff, said they would take care if it before my evening shower but failed to do so. Other than that, I would visit this hotel again.”

• Housekeeping made allot of noise (banging stuff, music, loud talking) when cleaning nearby rooms at naptime.

“Great location! Staff was attentive and helpful. However, the door on the pool is malfunctioning. I had to seek out a staff person to help me, which was a drag because my 3 year old wanted to go swimming! They might consider putting up a sign to communicate that the system is malfunctioning to guests until they get it repaired. They may also want to remind the housekeeping staff that guests can hear them through the walls and doors. They may want to keep their voices down while cleaning, turn down their radios and try reduce their clang and clatter while placing hard items on hard surfaces.”

• Front lobby and lounge were very clean and attractive.
• Noise insulation was very poor. Heard lots of hall activity.

“My husband and I had a very good time at the hotel. The hallways between the rooms were not well tended and the housekeeping staff hadn't stocked our room prior to our visit. Also, no fans in the bathroom, which fogged the entire room! But, the room itself was comfortable, despite the hallway noises and stocking deficiencies.”

“This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Old Town Sacramento and the state Capitol. The staff is courteous and competent. Public spaces are adequate. The only drawback is the lack of parking.”

• This was a very attractive hotel.
• The only thing I could say is the front desk could have been friendlier and more helpful.

• Quiet, peaceful, conveniently located, staff was prompt, friendly and helpful.
• Baseboards and floors were dirty, there was hair on the floor, and the shower was dirty.

“Everything was great, what one would expect from a hotel. The only problem I had was with the condition of the room upon arrival. The entry way was not clean (there was hair on the floor) and the shower was dingy. Made me wonder about the way the rest of the room was cleaned. We are especially concerned with cleanliness because we were traveling with our young children ages 3 and 9 months.”

• The room was attractive and clean and the bed was comfortable. It has a very convenient location.
• The sounds from the hallway and other rooms were pretty audible.

“We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is attractive, clean and we found the service to be very helpful. On arrival, they indicated our room had 2 double beds. We preferred a king and requested a change. Even though there were several conventions occurring in the hotel, we were quickly accommodated into a room with a king size bed. The food was good at the restaurant and pretty reasonably priced. We had both dinner and breakfast meals. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

“This hotel is an older Holiday Inn but it is beautiful inside. It is right Downtown, and steps away from the Westfield Mall (Macy's, Restaurants, etc) Also, a few blocks from Old Town Sacramento - I loved it and was pleasantly surprised - Had room service for dinner and my meal was above par.”

• It was Downtown with a mall, movie theater and old Sacramento within walking distance.
• It is too close to a major highway and we could hear the traffic.

“Other than the traffic noise this was a great place to stay. We booked a king bed and when we found out we were going to have two grand kids stay with us; they moved us to a two double bed room the next morning. Kids eat free! Always a plus. Please be aware that there is no parking.”

“Recently updated; the parking garage for the city is very close and at night there are lots of young teenagers hanging around (and not in a good way). That's the only thing I did not like about the place. The actual room was great very clean and recently renovated.”

“The wake up call never came thru on check out day which could have made us miss our plane. The staff could care less! His response was well. I did request it! It was 3 am when we checked out and the staff member was dressed unprofessionally in an un-tucked wrinkled shirt. It was pathetic. It looked really bad to for holiday inn to present themselves in that manner.”

• Room was nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable. Validated parking.
• Very noisy. Next to the freeway. Traffic noise was very evident.

“Toiletries provided were poor quality. Shampoo but no conditioner. Coffee pot had to be moved from one location to another in the room because there was no electrical outlet nearby. No refrigerator in the room. Relatively easy access from the freeway. Good parking situation.”

“Convenient location, decent, cleanliness. My business packages were not listed in the system. Front desk (night) didn't know what she was doing nor could help with outgoing shipping. They would not give me a priority member upgrade. Had to work to get a non smoking room. Thin walls. A 3 star in downtown Sacramento is not the same as a 3 star in Arden.”

• The location places you in downtown Sacramento, though very convenient to Old Sacramento one of the biggest highlights of Sac.

“The Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza is conveniently located to many of Sacramento's places of interest. You can step right out of the Hotel and find yourself in the hub of Downtown Sacramento, walking distance from Old town which houses many fine restaurants amidst historical buildings.”

• The adjacent freeway noise was muted, but still always there.

“This is a great place to stay if you need to be downtown or are visiting old Sacramento. The mall is next door and old Sacramento is just at the end of the adjacent pedestrian tunnel. The hotel was very upscale and elegant for a holiday inn express.”

“I was pleased to find the hotel location to be very convenient to the downtown area. The desk clerk was helpful & friendly. Although this is not what I would consider a "3 star" hotel, it was more than I expected from a corporate chain. I would not hesitate to stay there again.”

• This hotel was just off I5. Nicer than expected for the price and clean. Wonderful restraint.
• Bathrooms were a little small and pool is small. But still nice.

“For location and price, this hotel is great for a quick business stay. The rooms are clean and updated, and the beds are pretty comfortable. For business travelers who like the convenience of a fitness center, this hotel has a fitness center but much of the equipment was old and outdated, and numerous pieces were broken as well.”

• Single pane windows. Nosiest hotel room I've ever been in.

“Very convenient to Old Town Sacramento (walking distance). Pleasant friendly staff and clean public areas and room. Because of the single pane windows and the freeway outside this was the nosiest hotel room I've ever been in. If they go double pane on the windows it will be a real 3 star hotel.”
