• Exterior and lobby/public areas were beautiful!
• Rooms were not as nice as public spaces.

“When you drive up to this hotel, it is very impressive. It would be a beautiful place to host an event like a wedding! The public areas are beautiful and they even have history/museum type atmosphere in the main lobby. The drawback is that the guest rooms are not nearly as nice as the public areas. The rooms desperately need an update because the decor is from the early 90s and the bathroom was a little grimy.”

• The hotel was beautiful and the grounds were lovely.

“Although the hotel was lovely, I get that as a Priceline client, I am not treated equally as a regular guest. It shows in how I am greeted to the room where I have stayed twice now. Even when I have asked to stay in the main building minus the very loud wedding party and their band. It made my stay less pleasurable.”

• Very pleasant grounds, and the staff was friendly and helpful with our three small children.

“The staff was very friendly. Some hotels don't like to let us have one room to share with our three young children, but the staff here was great and didn't give us any trouble about it! We had a lovely clean room with a nice bathroom, and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again if we're in San Jose.”

• It was beautiful, inside and out. Smelled great, staff was super friendly and rooms were amazing.

• Very beautiful architecture & grounds.
• The refrigerator in the room was very noisy - I unplugged it.

“This hotel was a private residential mansion. It is in a beautiful setting. There is a nice pool area with a jacuzzi. There is a large patio area that would be nice to relax on when the weather is warm. We checked in late & left by 11:00 the next morning. We didn't have time to explore the entire grounds, buildings, and public areas of the hotel.”

• The history and the maintenance of the grounds were wonderful.
• I did not like the fact that I had to leave out a special card to have my bed linens and towels changed.

• Bathroom sink is slow to drain. Heater takes a while to warm up.

• It was beautiful and historical.
• Poor food & they couldn't give me nearby options.

“Update your staff on where they are located, what is nearby. If you really have a day spa, try putting a staff in it. Also, the gym needs some type of air conditioning.”

• The smoke detector kept going off, from the shower steam.

“Overall besides the smoke detector, my stay was pleasant and very mind relaxing, the girl who took my reservation was charming, well mannered and had a beautiful smile to go with her kindness, yes, I will recommend the hays to friends and family.”

• Scenic grounds.
• Nothing worth doing/seeing within 10 miles of Hotel, screwed up my reservation and overcharged me by $215.00.

“Nice looking hotel on beautiful grounds but really quite strange. Caters to second-tier corporate conferences and the single traveler will likely find himself surrounded by 200 verizon retail office managers on a sales training seminar. Rooms have none of the charm of the main house. Reservations desk is a mess. Absolutely no local dining/entertainment outside of hotel grounds. Surrounding neighborhood is very sketchy.”

• I have a closet that is larger than the room and they stuffed a king bed in it.

“If you're looking for pretentious, this is the place for you. You'll also have to look for a desk clerk, concierge, and bell captain. They were nowhere to be found when we checked in and out.”

• Gorgeous! Great amenities, Incredibly clean and large rooms, great bed.
• Bar area could have been better.

“The Dolce Hayes Mansion hotel exceeded my expectations. It's far better than many other hotels I've stayed in. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and huge. The bathrooms look like they've just been redone, they are sparkling and also very large. Coffee maker in the room, a large desk, a small foyer area, large closet, fridge. The bed is very comfortable, the housekeeping is meticulous. Amenities are amazing, better than what I see in some 5 star hotels! I will stay here again, definitely, I was so impressed.”

“This hotel was perfect for our purpose. Girls roadtrip down to Santa Cruz for a race. We enjoyed the beautiful pool area and spacious room. Our stay made it very worth the 40 minute drive to Santa Cruz at 6am the next morning”

• Workout room was exceptional! Hotel Staff very congenial
• There was nothing we didn't like.

“The Dolce Hayes Mansion is a picturesque historical hotel that has the flavor of the 1906 orginal home with additional guest rooms available. The setting is parklike and even though we didn't take advantage of the spa it looked welcoming and relaxing. The workout room was top of the line. The Staff members were very friendly and well informed on the history of the home/hotel. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.”

“Hayes Mansion was a private estate that has now been turned into a hotel and conference center. The original home is 41,000 sq.feet! It is just beautiful, the grounds are lovely, and the rooms exceptionally well furnished. I enjoyed my 1 night stay very much, and was glad to know this hotel is there. Oh! They also have a spa. I didn't use it (no time), but I would definitely return and try it.”

• The buildings, grounds and room (furniture etc) were beautiful! The staff was friendly and helpful.
• The calking in the bathtub was cracked and there was some mildew growing in it...very incongruent with the rest of the room.

“From the finely dressed staff to the terry robe in the closet, this was a great stay at a reasonable price. The grounds were beautiful and it was located in an unusual, but very quiet and lush part of san jose...a great getaway!”

• The Hayes Mansion is exquisite - all service facilities are in top condition, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
• It was very busy this time - much more than usual. They easily accomodate large groups!
