• The location was perfect.
• The restaurant was horrible for the cost of the meal.

“This hotel was in a nice location and the room was accommodating as well. The limited parking accompanied by a gate key to get in and out was a hassle. The key worked 20% of the time so I got stuck in and out of the gate. If you are considering eating at the restaurant do not go there. Everyone was rude, including the hostess who laughed at an elderly lady who fell on the steps. It took forever to get service and to leave.”

• Lounge. The restaurant is the only area which could be described as romantic.
• Rooms are small and have that motel feel with drab decoration.

“The bed was much smaller in size and had no wow factor. On a plus side the restaurant in very comfortable with good food with a great ambiance.”

• It overlooked the beach.
• The noisy construction ruined our anniversary.

“We found out about the construction too late to change hotels. It was noisy above the sound of the waves. The hotel is rundown. The coffee maker had bare wires and the windows don't open.”

• We stayed on the beach side and we saw the watched the sun go down, the most beautiful view!
• Room service was awful and the food was cold when it got to our room.

“We have been coming to stay at the Monterey Beach Hotel for many years and we go home relaxed everytime. The view is wonderful and the hotel is beautiful inside. Parking is a little tough on the weekend but having the sand as your doormat it worth it. You don't even have to leave, you have everything you need in one spot.”

• The rooms are beautiful and the location on the beach is amazing!
• The room service was always ice cold.

“This is an amazing hotel! It is located directly on the beach so it is ideal for couples to take romantic sunset walks on the shore. It is less than a 5 minute drive to Fisherman's Warf and Cannery Row and 10 minutes to Carmel. This was my second time staying here, and plan to do so every time I travel to Monterey.”

• Staff very responsive when we needed anything at all.
• The door lock malfunctioned and we were locked out of the room for a little while.

“Phenomenal! We paid just around $150.00 weekday for an ocean front view. I've read another review complaining about the price, but they must not be familiar with what to expect in a place like Monterey! Anything under 200 dollars on the beach is a steal. Anyway, we thought it was great all the way around. So close to the water that the sounds of the waves actually got a little too loud at times, if that's even possible. It was quite a treat to wake up and see the dolphins swimming through the waves right from the room! I recommend this place to anyone. The food at the restaurant was great also.”

• The Lobby looking out at the ocean. I could sit there all day.
• I was surprised that I had to pay for parking. In the past, parking was free.

“The hotel was just what I was looking for,on the beach, reasonably priced, a restaurant on the premises, and all at a reasonable rate.”
