- The bed was super soft and the pillows very fluffy!
- A little hard to figure out where to park. Valet was the only choice and had to drive around the block a few times to figure it out.
“This historic hotel was re-furbished beautifully. It is so much more enjoyable to stay at a one of a kind hotel rather than the same old hotel chains I've been doing. There were many nice touches to the room. The bathroom ceiling was had a recessed square ceiling that was hand painted with a scene of a sky and birds. The sink was a wood veneer and lovely. The bed and bedding was soft and comfortable.”

“Classic hotel which has been updated to serve the business traveler. Free in-room wireless Internet access makes working in your room easy to do. Each room has a DVD player and the front desk has a nice supply of recent and classic DVD's that you can borrow. Overall a great place to stay.”

- Walls were paper thin.
“Could hear normal conversations in room next door. Smoke detector was covered in plastic, which didn't make me feel too safe. The water pressure in the shower was almost non existent. Other than that, it was a good stay. Very comfortable bed and historic looking though clean. Staff extremely courteous. Good value.”

- Boutique hotel with antique style furniture, a bit like a 3 star Ritz Carlton.
- No wireless or high speed internet access in my room, though computers are available in the lobby.
“You'll like this hotel very much if you are used to staying at some of the older hotels in Europe, stylish but with limited space and glamour. So it is a good choice for travelers who do not like the run of the mill hotel chains and want something with a flavor of history and art. It is not for you if what you look for is a grand lobby and fancy ball rooms, or an Olympic sized pool with a spa, or an executive size desk.”

- The television set did not work and I was told it was not just my room, but I felt that I was given a bad room for paying a lower price.

They just did not seem to have a handle on their television system which was of frustration for me as I was planning on relaxing in front of the television for the evening. It was if they did not have cable which they did but I could get better reception with Rabbit ears.”

- Lousy water pressure/nozzles, no non-skid in shower, crummy location for highways, noisy.

- You cannot compare a "Historic" Hotel with a chain. Lots of charm
- Along with historic you might not have all the electric outlets you need.
“Historic hotels are my favorite type of hotel and the Sainte Clair has all of old world charm with an open spacious lobby and marvelous ceilings. The staff was extremely helpful and could not do enough for us. Although the electrical outlets were few we did manage to get our cell phones charged and the free internet usage in the business center was a plus. The rooms although not spacious were nicely appointed with good water pressure, air conditioning, etc. We were attending a wedding in Santa Clara and did not have a chance to eat dinner but managed to have a great breakfast at their restaurant. Thanks for a wonderful stay.”

- The staff was very hospitable. My fiance left his shaving stuff at home and we asked if they had any and that afternoon it was in the bathroom!!

“They Hyatt St. Claire is abominable -- Im shocked that they actually call this a Hyatt. Planes, trains and cars all night, extremely noisy. Room was of poor quality for a 3 star hotel and the staff was verging on rude. They laughed at us as we checked in because we asked about parking. I would avoid this hotel at all costs.”

- The workers were nice and handled each of our complaints.
- It was not clean. The light switches, hairdryer, mirror frame, etc. had layers of dust built up on them. Rooms were very small. Parking difficult.
“I have never been disappointed with a hotel until this one. First, parking was a problem unless you paid $18 to valet park. The rooms were very small. Our refrigerator did not work in the first room so we changed rooms. That room had a burned out lightbulb. Worst of all, the rooms were dirty. My socks got dirty walking around and there was month old dust or grime on many places in the bathroom (light fixtures, mirror frame, etc.). ”

“This hotel was downtown San Jose although the area requested mostly covered the airport. On the weekend the is free parking in the area but the hotel charges $18 per day for the valet parking which is all that is available through the hotel. ”

- Valet parking only...no self parking (unless you don't mind parking a few blocks away).
“This hotel is old (decorated w/ antiques), but very beautiful and well maintained. Very clean, comfortable, excellent service. Great location (easy access from freeway) and lots of good places to eat within walking distance. Room service food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay here again.”

- Hotel valet parking staff gave my car to another guest, who did not return it in the same condition. Other guest kept my car for entire day & evening
“Hotel does not meet the 3 star requirements. Valet parking costs $18/day; don't count on finding another place to park. Hotel is fine if you like charm, etc. If you want a trouble-free place that is easy to find and park next to, then avoid at all costs.”

- no parking...advertised "free parking" but no spaces available...forced to pay $18 for valet park
“This is a grand old refurbished hotel in downtown San Jose. Parking is a problem and you should plan on paying $18 for valet parking in addition to what you pay for the room. Our room was very large and comfortable...lots of room space but bathroom could have had more room.”

- The building is older but everything is up to date. It has class and charm.

“I loved this hotel. It was an updated 100 year old building, but very classy and with lots of charm. The front desk staff was very helpful in getting me on the freeway to the airport. It is close but not at the airport. The rooms where comfortable and well appointed. I would be happy to stay at this hotel again and the rate of $45 was a great bargain.”

“The location and the historical value of the hotel give it its appeal. The room was clean upon initial check in. Cleaning crew did a poor job in subsequent days. Also the sound proofing was extremely poor. We could hear actual conversations, TV and other activities in the rooms on either side of us.”

- The rooms are great and the bed is so comfortable.
- The hotel does not have a parking garage but it does have a valet service but it will cost you $18 per night.
“This hotel is a historical hotel. The furniture's are great and the rooms are very clean. Everything is great with this hotel except the parking. There are no parking garage but they do have a valet service which will cost you $18 per night. If your lucky, you'll find a public parking for free but you'll have to do some walking. The staffs are friendly. I would stay in this hotel again and especially how cheap I got the room for.”

“The room for us is a single-queen, that's not good for me, my wife, and a 11 month old baby. I told the reception, I reserved a '2-queen, or a king' room. The room is small and smell like a junkyard. I slept on floor in that night. Hyatt gave us credit for next day's breakfast, but we still want to check out, and gave up the money we already paid for Sat night. They promised to move us to another bigger room, and we got a good one for Sat night.”

- Parking was a huge issue. Paying $18 to park is ridiculous.

“Excellent restaurant in hotel and a very helpful, cordial staff. Loved the "old world" flavor of the hotel, but was disappointed in parking availability. Very expensive overnight parking; only valet service. Biggest disappointment was "no shuttle service" to airport and expensive cabs.”

- The lobby and lounge area are beautiful. Location is great if you are looking for downtown.
- The need to pay $5 minimum for internet access.
“If you are looking for center of San Jose, this certainly is a nice place to be. Except for additional parking and internet fees, I think you get your money's worth for the hotel stay here.”

- Very unique and character-filled hotel.
- The water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent
“Wonderful place except for the water pressure. Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were charming and not cookie cutter chain decor, restaurant/bar facilities very good and it's very centrally located. As I said though, the water pressure in the bath/shower was very poor, just a trickle two of the three days I stayed there.”

- It was an acceptable room for the price.
- It did not have free parking and a free airport shuttle as expected.
“An airpot hotel should supply free parking and free airport shuttles, both of which this Hyatt did not have. A feature for the traveler should be groupings of hotels by this type of feature. ”

- It was a unique older boutique hotel in the middle of a high tech area of the regular more modern chain hotels
- Older hotel that I feel did not have all the ammenities of more modern hotel. Only valet parking was available at a fairly high charge.
“The lobby was graciously furnished in the old elegant European style. It is a well restored boutique type hotel. The rooms were well appointed although not the elegance of the lobby.The only available parking was valet at a rather steep fee per day, plus tips. The valets were very courteous and always swift in retrieving your vehicle. ”
