“We have stayed there twice and have been very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and eager to serve. The rooms/grounds/pool area is very clean and well maintained. Television channel selection is poor, but they do have DVD videos to play in your room, with check out at the front desk. We will stay there again!” Oct 20, 2009 by
Lisa from Croton On Hudson,NY
“My cousin and I had a great time, were very pleasantly surprised and really loved the accommodations. The restaurant was great, the pool was phenomenal on a cool night (heated wonderfully) and we have absolutely nothing bad to say. As a first time Priceline user, I'm thrilled and a huge fan!” Oct 3, 2009 by
Karen from Flagler Beach,FL
“While the room was very small, everything else made up for it - the staff, restaurant, happy hour, and location.” Sep 30, 2009 by
Kareem from San Francisco,CA
“This hotel was great. Good attention to small details. They obviously converted an older hotel into this newer one, but they did a good job with new faucets and new finishes. The staff was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the food at the restaurant was great. In the morning there is some noise from the other guests in the hotel and parking lot, but overall a great stay.” Sep 18, 2009 by
Peter from West Sacramento,CA
“Historic property in the heart of Monterey, close to everything. Very comfortable and well appointed rooms, good beds. The recent renovation of the public spaces and some upgrades to the rooms have definitely taken the Casa Munras up a notch. Esteban, the new restaurant is gourmet treat.” Sep 7, 2009 by
Lee from Visalia,CA
“Rooms were clean and interior was attractive. Staff were friendly and provided information about local attractions and transportation.” Sep 6, 2009 by
Shawn from Los Banos,CA
“I know we were only guaranteed a room for 2 people, they only give price-line winner a room with a queen bed...we had to get two roll-away beds for our childre 12 & 16, for an extra charge...so I really didn't save much money would of been better off using a different service to be guaranteed a room with 2 beds.......” Sep 3, 2009 by
Dolores from Fresno,CA

“i did not expect this hotel to be nice, due to the location. i wanted by the ocean and got just outside of dwntwn. HOWEVER-- that being said--- once i got there i changed my mind. although obviously a remodled old hotel sprawled everywhere, once you go into the lobby and your rooms you notice all the upgrades. the beds/linens where top as were the bathrooms. great makeup or computer area. also the little "radio" had great sound. the ONLY thing that i had a prob with was the filthy carpet. the room didnt smell but the carpet was beyond filthy. since they are pet friendly-- one can only wonder if it was pet urine.....” Aug 23, 2009 by
Ginny from Rohnert Park,CA
“The hotel was in a good location. It had beautiful flowers and plants. The pool looked really nice. The plantation shutters were nice. They had cookies at the front desk and a firepit in a courtyard. The beds were double and a little small. The bathroom floor could have been cleaner. The toilet got clogged very easily although they were prompt about coming to the room to service it. It was an older building. The parking was tight but free. The staff was very nice and friendly.” Aug 21, 2009 by
Vince from San Jose,CA
“This is Motel and not a Hotel. Larkspur has done a cheap makeover of the rooms. Bathroom floors have tacky tile and grout was somewhat dirty. Very faint musty smell in bathroom.” Aug 21, 2009 by
Laurel from Sacramento,CA
“The parking was cramped and was everywhere between the buildings which took away from the overall beauty and charm as you walked around the grounds. The pool was small but nicely heated like bath water, but we were disappointed that there was no jacuzzi. The room was clean, cute, but small with few extras. The staff was really nice and they gave us a complimentary fridge, fresh fruit (apples) after hours and let us check out a little late.” Aug 12, 2009 by
Carol from Mcdonald,TN
“The staff was caring and helpful. The property (except office building) is an older property. Our room was one of three in the building it was in. While older and while entrance to room was outside (rather than inside hallway), it felt safe. Deceptive at first, it seemed I was entering an old, run-of-the-mill room. Wrong! This king-size bedroom had plush bed linens, high ceilings, fan, sitting area, luxury bath toiletries. It was quite simply a wonderful room!” Aug 9, 2009 by
Mark from Vacaville,CA
“Rooms are very small but quaint. The room itself was very clean but all hallways leading to the room were in dire need of cleaning, painting and upkeep. Garbage bags, laundry bags lined the halls during the day. A good value at the priceline bid price but not much more.” Aug 1, 2009 by
LeAnn from Moorpark,CA
“Not what I expected for a "Boutique" 3 star hotel. The restaurant was 'tapas' style dining not appropriate for kids. It seemed like a spruced up Travelodge.” Jul 27, 2009 by
Dave from Rancho Mirage,CA
“Can't beat the price overall quality comfort and location (no refrigerator). The breakfast buffet was terrible - $3.95 for child 10 and younger- $10.95 for adults - it should have been free or at most $3.95 for everyone. It was the worst breakfast I've had in the last 10 years- The omelet was insipid. The coffee was poor and the OJ clearly from concentrate. This breakfast buffet should be avoided completely. My 2 middle children both complained of how poor the omelet was-but for four bucks I couldn't care. Worse, however, was how the cook was so gleeful in taking my omelet order-as if he was Wolfgang Puck. It was so tasteless, it was comical.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Jay from Bakersfield,CA
“The Casa Munras is a nice property in a very good location in Monterey. Close to popular sites (Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf) and in walking distance to many restaurants, bakeries and Downtown.” Jul 1, 2009 by
Jorge from South San Francisco,CA
“The hotel lobby was very impressive, staff was extremely helpful, business center was nice, restaurant was OK ( only went there for breakfast). Then we went to our room and the disappointment began. The room was set up with the TV in a very awkward place off to the side of the room. Bathroom was OK, just the bare minimum for a bathroom. Bed was great, very comfortable. The worst part came after dark when we were trying to sleep. We could hear everything above us and beside us from other rooms. We heard babies crying, people talking outside of our door and could even take in the second hand smoke from someone outside of our room. This hotel would be a great hotel if they updated the rest of the hotel as they have their lobby area. Maybe it is just the room that we had but it wasn't fun. Jun 25, 2009 by
Joan from Chicago,IL “Front desk very accommodating. We had new rooms in main building. The rooms were small, but very lovely, with large bathroom/vanity area.” Jun 20, 2009 by
John from Saint Cloud,FL
“I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.” Jun 17, 2009 by
Dougla from Cvottonwood,CA
“Very happy with the hotel we will stay again at the Casa Munrus.” May 21, 2009 by
from San Diego,CA
“The hotel was more of an upscale motel. With bad insulation and thin walls. The service and staff were awesome and did an incredible job.” Apr 24, 2009 by
William from Portland,OR
“Very attractive hotel in downtown Monterey area. Walking distance to many attractions. Clean, comfortable rooms, nicely landscaped. Very helpful staff.” Apr 13, 2009 by
David from Elk Grovw,CA
“The hotel offers a very friendly staff that try to make up for the hotels very average rooms.” Apr 5, 2009 by
Bonnelyn Cole from Goleta,CA
“Quaint decor, friendly staff but room and beds were Mar 30, 2009 by
Shelley from Canyon Country,CA
“If you stay in the back, the noise from the local club/restaurant goes on until 2:30 am! The parking spaces are small, but it is possible to park in front of your room. The rooms were boring and plain with no pictures. The bathrooms were big but a little dirty. The front desk staff seemed friendly. It doesn't even have air conditioning for goodness sake! If you want a walk to the wharf, then stay here. If you want to be more a part of Monterey, stay somewhere else.” Mar 16, 2009 by
Anna from Oakley,CA
“Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The staff was very helpful and extremely polite. My husband and I were traveling with our four month old daughter and had ample room to set up her pack-n-play.” Feb 12, 2009 by
Ed from San Mateo,CA
“Come to the hotel if you want a smaller family friendly feel. The restaurant is made for couples or adults and offers a type of food (Tapas) that is a great choice if you are tired of grilled fish. Luckily there is a Denny's across the street if you have kids. I believe this hotel is a great alternative from the large 20 story hotel options in the area.” Feb 10, 2009 by
Joe from Arlington,VA
“Probably a good place. Not convenient to anything, especially compared to other hotels in Monterey, which are near Fisherman's Wharf or Cannery Row, and all near the water. The rooms are small. The carpet looks like it's been there since the 80's. The paint on the railings on the small lanai was peeling off. No elevators to any of the second story rooms, though the staff will help with luggage. It rained during my stay, and the gutters leaked and one stairway was under a virtual waterfall and unusable.” Feb 7, 2009 by
Jim from Merced,CA
“Well located for walking into town; charming grounds, solicitous staff, but room was very small, poor reception on television, and noisy.” Jan 6, 2009 by
Mark from Stockton,CA
“The hotel Lobby and restaurant was clean and very inviting. However the rooms were older and very outdated and did not meet up to our expectations. A bit noisy and cold as well! The staff was however very kind, and the location nice due to it being across the street from Dennies Restaurant!” Jan 5, 2009 by
Charles from Sacramento,CA
“Very nice rooms and facilities, with a very well trained and accomodating staff. The location is within six blocks of Fisherman's Wharf, where you enjoy great scenic seashore strolls up to and beyond Cannery Row and several quality restaurants. Extra perks, such as a business office with complimentary Internet, just add to an already great experience.” Jan 5, 2009 by
jeff from Arroyo Grande,CA
“the owners are working to improve this hotel, and it may be much better in the future. rooms next to parking are like a 1960's motor inn with all the outside noise.” Dec 30, 2008 by
Leslie from Sunnyvale,CA
“Hotel is very, very nice and has great potentional once Larkspur completes renovations in rooms. It is not a 3.5 yet. Now it is just a 2.5. Our room was a bit dark, old carpeting, no pictures on wall, no info. binder, old towels. I saw some definite renovations, but it's not done yet and definitely not 3.5, so I paid more than I wanted.” Dec 2, 2008 by
Danielle from Marne,MI
“Rooms are very small. Nov 27, 2008 by
Michael from Turlock,CA
“Restaurant was very good, staff was very friendly, out room had the most disgusting carpet Nov 23, 2008 by
David from El Centro,CA
“The rooms feel like 1930's roadhouse, small, modern remodeling, but still space unfriendly, lights with light bulb and pull strings, too cramped for modern conveniences. Nice try but still a dump. A huge disappointment.” Nov 14, 2008 by
Gabrielle from Phoenix,AZ
“Good location for Monterey, very short drive to sights, but not walkable in my opinion.” Oct 20, 2008 by
Mary
“Great location, central to Monterey. The hotel lobby was nice as were the rooms. Ample free parking. Only complaint was that the plumbing was weak. Free breakfast is limited to fresh fruit and coffee/tea.” Oct 14, 2008 by
Frank
“This hotel has a great appearance, nice looking and refurbished. But it is no 3,5 stars worth. The rooms are very badly noise isolated, you hear every word from the neighbour room. Spa is only for on-cost. Air conditioning is not available.” Oct 2, 2008 by
Albert
“I was very impressed. The hotel made reservations at a local restraunt for us, the restraunt was very accomodating and even mentioned the hotel called and asked to take care of us. The rooms were a little small but made up for it in comfort. This hotel is an excelent flace for a quiet weekend get away.” Sep 22, 2008 by
Cory
“I cannot emphasize enough the beauty of the hotel. It truly surprised me. The location was convenient to Fisherman's Wharf and all the sites. It has a workout room that has free weights and cardio. Free bottled water in the Gym. Nice fireplace in the lobby to drink coffee and or tea and snack on cookies. The staff was outstanding! It has a business center. I would have to say, I've stayed in seriously 100's of hotels and I would rank this in the top 2. My only regret is that I wasn't staying for a week. My wife and I loved it!” Sep 17, 2008 by
Rob
“The hotel itself is not a four star hotel as far as quality and feel, but it exceeded what we expected for the price. Our room was tastefully furnished and decorated with everything functioning well. However, the walls looked a little worn like some of the common areas like runners on walkways and stairs and paint job in hallways could have been better for a 3+ star hotel. The pool is accommodating but we thought a Jacuzzi would have been nice. Overall, our stay was relaxing and wonderful. The staff makes Casa Munras like a five star hotel.” Sep 14, 2008 by
Sandy from Napa, CA
“Casa Munras has undergone a remodeling which raises its status and environment to increased pleasure for the traveler.” Sep 14, 2008 by
Patricia from Orleans, MA
“Well located to all the sights. The property appears to be in need of updating to today's standards - larger guest rooms, removing old carpeting and rewiring to remove all the extension cords that are in operation inside each guest room. The pool area was lovely, just too chilly.” Sep 14, 2008 by
June from Palm Coast, FL
“Hotel is centrally located. Two stories, no elevators. Great lobby, fireplace. Bar and restaurant excellent. Unusual menu, great service, food excellent. Small bathroom. Nicely appointed room.” Sep 13, 2008 by
Joyce from Grand Rapids, MI
“A very good attempt to bring an old motel-style place up-to-date with contemporary furnishings, wall colors, etc. We had a very large room with wonderful fireplace. Lighting was good and bath had sky light and well-equipment. But it still takes a lot of renovating to bring something like this up to current hotel standards. We did enjoy our stay, however staff was very helpful.” Sep 12, 2008 by
Rudy from Fowler, CA
“Clean and comfortable.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Sallyann from Livermore, CA
“We really liked this hotel which was more like a glorified motel. It was charming, pretty and close to downtown. The rooms were attractive and comfortable although small and crowded. The bar area was trendy inside and cozy outside with a fireplace. Sadly there seemed to be some disconnect between the front desk confirmation of the type and location of rooms and what we ended up with. We confirmed rooms close by each other on the upper floor as I called ahead to ask about this. They had all sorts of excuses from the installation of fans to the lack of queen rooms (which were available earlier that afternoon). There was no fan in our room and it was hot that weekend so it was stifling!” Sep 7, 2008 by
George from San Leandro, CA
“We felt very comfortable and noticed it was significantly upgraded from our previous stay. I would highly recommend it for couples and families. We would gladly return.”
