• I liked the location, the suite-like room, having a shower and tub, the garden patios and spa.
• The heavy shutters kept the rooms too dark during the day and the elevator was extremely slow.

“I was very pleased with our room. It was very thoughtfully arranged. The sitting area was separate from the sleeping area. I regret that we had such a short time to spend there as the ambiance would have made a longer stay even more enjoyable.”

• Hotel was nice, clean, airy, simple yet contemporary and not frilly.
• Continental breakfast attendants were helpful, but one of them wasn't very pleasant. Maybe they were just busy.

“I didn't expect this from the 2.5 star rating of the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here, and we'd definitely go back! The complimentary continental breakfast was very good as well.”

• Loved the fireplace/turn-down service/balcony/decor/spa.
• No pool. Wish the ceiling beams hadn't been painted.

“Pacifica Hotel exceeded our expectations. Cozy and beautifully decorated, the room was just lovely. Especially liked the little areas - sleeping, dining, office, and lounging in front of the fireplace. Turn-down service was sweet - loved the little Shamu on our pillow. Service was excellent. Wish there had been a pool. Also wish the ceiling beams had been left as natural wood. Minor concerns, though. Overall, our stay was very pleasant.”

• The room accommodation were outstanding--fireplace, comfy beds great afternoon tea & breakfast.
• A little bit of noise from the open corridors.

• Noisy - could hear kids in room above, double size beds.

“Great hotel within walking distance of lots of things to do in Monterey. Not a high-rise "box" but rather suites spread out with garden areas. Relaxing and romantic fireplace, sitting area, and also garden area beside the patio.”

• Great location; close to downtown and fisherman's wharf.
• Room service food was appallingly bad.

“A very nice facility, within walking distance of downtown and fisherman's wharf. Spacious rooms that do not feel like your typical chain hotel. Lovely amenities like bathroom toiletries and down comforters. Free breakfast is quite substantial, with lots of offerings. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. On the downside: beds seem unusually short; mini-bar had rather limited choices; rooms can be noisy from street traffic. Food ordered from room service was atrocious; expensive, over an hour wait, cold, and barely edible.”

• Our suite was so warm and cozy.
• There was no pool.

“We had such a lovely stay. Hotel Pacific was wonderful. The staff was friendly and our room was very clean. The bed, the fireplace, and the atmosphere was incredible. The breakfast in the morning was very good. We felt very much at home and very comfortable.”

• They charged Aquarium and parking fees 7 times to my card that's 300 dollars

• The grounds were very nice, the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.
• The in room CD player was crappy. Even one of the two supplied CD's would not play in it.

“The room was very nice and roomy, but I would not stay there again unless I was guaranteed a room that did not border Pacific Ave. Our first room did, and I could hear every car, motorcycle and bus that passed as if the wall was made of paper. The staff was very helpful and immediately changed my room to one that bordered the residential area adjacent to the hotel. After that, our stay was beautiful.”

• Beautiful grounds, spectacular room, amenities.
• Street noise, our room was next to street.

“Superb room with fireplace, stereo, featherbeds, balcony. Grounds are well maintained with impressive fountains and gardens. Short walk to downtown, fisherman's wharf. Boutique hotel of highest caliber.”

• Spacious suites, well configured.
• Closet space is minimal, definitely a drawback.

“Quality hotel which has the feel of a small hotel. Rooms are all suites and nicely configured. Lack of closet space is only problem.”

• The plumbing was out for 5 hours.

“Great hotel service was great. It was such a great location too. The only problem was the water service was turned off for 5 hours not that will ever happen again but a little annoying. Overall though it was great.”

• This hotel was very luxurious. The amenities went above and beyond what I had expected.
• The street noise made it difficult to sleep.

• A swimming pool would be nice.

“A surprisingly comfortable and pleasant hotel, excellent decor, comfortable beds, close to wharf. aquarium. Unassuming, not flashy but luxurious in its own way. We especially liked the afternoon tea.”

• I liked the patio area. I sat outside and enjoyed the view.
• No pool.

“The hotel was easy to find from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. As I walked up, the atmosphere seemed so peaceful and inviting. The staff was friendly and very helpful in giving us the highlights of Monterey. Thank you.”

• Every room was like a mini-suite. Includes loveseat and dining table and chairs
• Parking fee of $15 was not mentioned in advance and unexpected.

“Definitely better than 2 1/2 star rating. Every room is like a mini-suite including seperate dining area with table and chairs, wet bar and mini-fridge. Includes fireplace and area to sit and watch TV that is seperate from the bed.”

• Location was excellent
• Reception did not verbally explain that parking was $15.00 per day. Also, did not expect to pay $10.00 per day to access the Internet

“Excellent location, very pleasant surroundings. Very nice large room with dining area and wet bar. I was very surprised when charged $30.00 extra for two days parking fee. It was not verbally mentioned and was hidden in small print. I thought that a trick to get extra money. Also, most hotels today provide free Internet connections, this one charged $10.00 per day.”

• Very nice, Upscale hotel
• not as close to the ocean as I wanted

“This was a truly lovely hotel. They were wonderful and gracious to me and my son. When I asked for hot cocoa for my 8 year old, they went and bought some from the store. Very nice place, you have to be into the old mission style, although. Great location, two blocks away from the Old Fisherman's Wharf and approximately 1.5 miles from the aquarium. Beautiful walk if the weather is nice, of course, it was terrific for me and my son (62-65, sunny).”

• The top floor vaulted ceilings were nice with a fire place in the room as well.
• The sign on the outside of the building was a little difficult to see.

• It is located in a very quit location, however very close to town.

“This hotel is very well kept inside and out and since I was traveling with another girl it was nice to feel safe with the underground parking and safe and secured location.”

• Our needs were met beyond our expectations and we loved the feather bed!
• Our only complaints were that we felt high speed internet service in all rooms and parking should be free for a hotel of this caliber.

“The hotel has a great, central location to Fisherman's Wharf and downtown. We enjoyed our walks to the wharf and to the Tuesday Farmer's Market.

Our room was well supplied with a wonderful feather bed, plenty of towels, and toiletries. The room decor was restful and complimentary to the history of Monterey.”

“Convenient location in downtown Monterey, close to attractions and restaurants. Room was more spacious than expected with a nice refreshing hot tub. Beds were too soft & bouncy. Unexpected parking fee, but you can park on the street overnight for free.”

“This hotel exceeded my expectations. Not only was the staff friendly but they made my stay feel like a luxury 5-star hotel. There was a beautiful array of breakfast items, a wine-and-cheese afternoon and turn down service. The beds are down comforter and the bathrooms have two showers. It is walking distance to the boardwalk and lots of great restaurants. I would stay at the this hotel again and again.”
