“The Spindrift Inn was a lovely stop along the way to San Francisco. The staff was friendly, the location along Cannery Row in good proximity to the entire major stops in Monterey and just generally pleasant.

• Location is a big plus. The bed was really comfortable and the outside balcony was terrific.
• I felt a little cramped in the lobby, however the room was spacious.

“A really great hotel. The price was a little high for one night stay; however being down the street a couple of blocks from the Monterey Aquarium were a big plus. The wine reception is one that cannot be missed.”

• Rooms were elegant and inviting. Vaulted ceilings, window seats, fireplace, and wood floors added so much!
• The only thing I did not like was the noise of the pub across the street where the motorcyclists rev up their motors in the mid hours of the night.

“Very nice! If you are a sensitive sleeper and are on the Canary Row side, bring ear plugs! Otherwise if you are on the beach side you are set! Loved being so close to the shops, restaurants and the aquarium. Awesome being right on the beach too.”

• Charming, loved the breakfast and wine/cheese.

“Charming hotel right on Cannery Row. The hotel was unique and we loved the furnishings, especially the fire place and bay windows. The evening wine and cheese and morning breakfast at our door were great! The turn down service was a treat as well.”

• The breakfast was very nice and filling.
• The furniture was old and not the cleanest. The bed was very uncomfortable.

“I feel this hotel is lacking in the quality they are trying to provide. The older furniture and beds need to be replaced. For the prices they ask it's not up to par.”

• The on the beach location and the in room Sauna.
• The oppressive noise until 1 AM from the live band in the bar across the street.

“In room sauna was a treat. Our room was on the street and the noise was a bit much most of the time. Really bad at night, until 1 AM, with a band on the bar's patio right across the street. I am sure that the rooms on the ocean side would not have the same noise problem and a much better view. Overall a good value for the money.”

• Excellent location. Rooms were beautiful. I had the best room in the hotel with balcony.
• Valet parking was inconvenient as it took to long to retrieve car.

“The location is to die for with Cannery Row on one side and Monterey Bay on the other. The cozy rooms are excellently appointed with fireplaces, hardwood floors, and balconies on the 2nd floor.”

• Very few due to the cost.
• To many things to label.

“For a property that charges as much it's not worth it. The view is great if you can see it from the dirty and fogged up window pains. Two the standing lights did not function. The wood they advertise is so wet/moist that it is very hard getting the fire to stay burning. No bell service or real guest service beyond 10 p.m. The break fast is the same as what you would get at a Quality Inn but you can't have too much or they charge you more. Even the continental breakfast at many other budget hotels is better and it's all you can eat. The corner rooms are placed near the stairs entrance which is used allot for wood and when the door closes it wakes you right up. Remember these corner rooms are the best and most expensive they offer. Also the website shows the north side of the property is brush and nice scenery but in fact that is a touched up photo, the remains of a collapsed building and the parking lot of the El Torito restaurant is the view. Also don't sleep with your windows open past 8:30, the noise from the people on the public beach is pretty focused and loud. All in all a great concept and local and condition of the hotel makes the cost hard to justify and it will leave a bad taste in your mouth.”

• Requested luggage cart. Never came.

“A charming, romantic getaway for you and your significant other! Located in the heart of Cannery Row, the Spindrift Inn provides access to everything that is Monterey! Great restaurants, shopping and sweets all within walking distance! Nightly wine and cheese in the lobby was a pleasant way to meet fellow guests and share some great company! We're looking forward to a return trip!”

• Staff went above and beyond the call of duty.
• Needs plumbing repairs and elevator need to be fixed?

“The Spindrift Inn was amazing. Although we did encounter a few challenges with the plumbing and the elevator, these were situations that the hotel was actively working on and really had no control over. Recent storms had caused many problems with plumbing etc. in a lot of the hotels. The staff upgraded our room to an ocean view to make our stay even better and the food at the restaurant next door (also used for room service) was outstanding! I will never forget the room or the outstanding customer service!”

• This hotel was absolutely beautiful first class, but pricy.
• They werent able to provide us with 2dl beds, they had them, however, wanted way too much money extra.

• We immensely enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast and wine reception, as well as the in room fireplace.
• I enjoyed everything about the spindrift inn. A little pricey, but worth the splurge!

“We needed a romantic getaway, and the spindrift inn was just perfect. Located at the center of Montereys cannery row, we were surrounded by shops, restaurants and views. The hotel is right on the beach, and our evenings included a glass of wine we snuck up to the rooftop. The gas assist fireplace was quite romantic, and I took three bubble baths during our stay. My honey and I turned off our phones for the weekend and never once turned on the television. I love this place, we will definitely return.”

• The fireplace in the room was a really nice touch, since the sun does not shine much in Monterey.
• The beds were extremely uncomfortable. Rooms smelled like old fires.

“What the hotel has going for it, (if you get a room on the ocean side) is the view. Since I didn't want our night stay to be a bad one, I paid it. The price was way too expensive for what we got and I will not go there again.”

• Room was not ready when promised, staff seemed uninterested in problem.

“One of the closest hotels to the main strip on Cannery row. Beautiful rooms and nice bathrooms (shower was a little weak). My room was not ready when promised and they kept moving the check in time - other than that my stay was wonderful (Ghirardelli's right next door!!)”

• Nice and cozy, nice ocean front location.
• The receptionist was not willing to provide information on alternative parking locations. 5$ vs. 20$ per day difference.

“Nice little bed and breakfast hotel for a romantic get away, if you can afford it. However, for a little more money, you can get into a real four star hotel with all the services.”

• Nice ocean view, located at end of cannery row within walking distance of just about everything.

“Nice facilities, clean rooms, romantic rooms. Located over restaurant kitchen--pretty noisy with windows open. Also paid for king bed with corner view-- one corner faced an alley wall-- waste of money to upgrade--next time will just get ocean view, one of the top floors. Staff was very friendly. Parking was additional $16 per day.”

• Beautiful view, comfortable beds, beautiful deco
• We heard footsteps or the elvator sounds above our room which was quite a loud noise.

“For a family of 4, this was not pratical. Spinfrift Inn gave us 1 dbl bed; we had to upgrade for an additional $120 to get 2 beds. Spindrif gave us a beautiful room over looking the ocean, but we had to pay for it.”

• Location was Ideal
• Minor issue: The hotel is next to a nightclub and loud music played until about 10 pm.

“This was an great hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. They were very strict on the 2 people to a room requirement. It took many days of talking to the manager to get them to allow us to have our kids in the room. If they would not have allowed us to have 2 adults and 2 kids in the room we would have had to eat the cost of that room and find another hotel.”

• The rm. was beautiful and the continental breakfast served in your rm. was fabulous.

“It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of cannery row. Some of the rooms are ocean front, but forget priceline customers getting one. The continental breakfast in rm. is great. Also, the windows open to get ocean breezes.The front desk staff were very arrogant and unhelpful. But I ignored them and had a great time.”
