• The room was easily accessible, spacious and
  clean. And the fireplace was a nice touch. The room was quiet and nicely appointed.
• Only that we couldn't stay longer !

“The hotel was great. Located so close to cannery row with outstanding restaurants and shopping just a short walk away. The room was spacious, nicely appointed, and the bed was very comfy. We enjoyed the fireplace each night. We will return and will certainly recommend this property to our friends.”

• Comfortable room with a great location.

“We found this to be a wonderful hotel. The staff was friendly and eager to satisfy our requests. The location is excellent with many wonderful places in walking distance. Although this is a pet friendly hotel, we only saw two dogs who were well behaved.”

• The wine and cheese reception and lobby area, spacious room.
• Mattress was too firm, could hear noisy guest up above us.

“Convenient location, yet far away enough from main tourist strip. Guests we encountered were mainly European which made it kind of interesting to kids.”

• Great location near aquarium, breakfast is convenient.
• Older hotel could stand some renovation.

“Based on its location, this is a better hotel than the ones on Munras. The rooms are a little shabby, but clean. We enjoyed the wine reception and breakfast (they could use a few more chairs). Overall, it was a decent hotel but not one I'd specifically seek out next time.”

• The location to the cannery row and downtown was great.
• There were no vending machines to get bottle water, soft drinks, etc.

“Overall this was a very nice stay. The front desk people were exceptionally friendly. We were walking distance from many restaurants and shops as well as Cannery Row.”

• The location was great and was close to cannery row and fisherman's wharf.
• The mattresses were awful; definitely need to be replaced.

“The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The mattresses definitely need to be replaced - we were glad we only had to spend one night on them. The continental breakfast is minimal and the coffee was bad but the food tasted good. We might stay there again if the mattresses were replaced.”

• Beds too soft.

“This hotel was great for the star level. Staff was very friendly, liked the continental breakfast, daily newspaper and location of the hotel. The aquarium was less than 10 minutes walking distance away. We would stay again.”

• The bed was very comfy and the staff was excellent.
• No AC in the room. It got rather warm but we managed with it by opening the patio door.

“The hotel was very clean and well kept. Staff was very friendly. We were able to walk to the aquarium and to dinner.”

• Very clean, newly upgraded fireplace in rooms nice touch.

“Great location in Monterey, block away from Cannery Row and Aquarium. Staff was polite and helpful with local attractions. Easy access from parking to room. Room was remodeled, nice gas fireplace, cozy feel.”

• Front desk was too small.

• Very close to Monterey Cannery Row and Aquarium is only 5 blocks away.
• The hotel's photos are somewhat misleading because the rooms are no where near the Victorian look. It's very modern.

“A nice clean property close to Cannery Row attractions and Downtown is just a 5 minute drive. The Victorian Inn is a modern hotel built adjacent to the original Victorian building. It houses the lobby and breakfast dinning room. There is a fireplace in every room.”

• Walls are paper thin.

“Typical Best Western, clean, not fancy. Fireplace in room is nice. Great location for tourists. $12 parking is just wrong. Unfortunately, walls have no insulation so you get to know your neighbors. Continental breakfast was acceptable.”

• It was clean and cozy.
• I didn't like that there was a $12 charge for parking.

“I'm not a picky person when it comes to hotels. I could have stayed somewhere more luxurious for the same amount of money with having to pay for parking. I have to say the fee for parking was the most disappointing thing about this hotel, but other than that it was a decent place to stay.”

“My husband and I have made the Victorian inn our "home away from home" for the past seven Christmas holidays and at least once or twice for other mini-vacations during the year. We love it! The staff is attentive, the rooms are clean, kept up nicely and well-appointed. The added touch of the fireplace in every room adds to the coziness and lends a romantic air to the rooms. We enjoy the continental breakfast and the wine and cheese reception. They truly strive to make one feel at home. It is conveniently located just two blocks from cannery row which is a real plus as you can park your car and walk most everyplace you want to go.”

“Everything was great except for unexpected mandatory $12.00 TAX/PARKING FEE! When you say total cost, you need to include this. Some hotels mention this before you make reservations I would have stayed at another hotel with better location for same price and no parking fee surprise.”

• The continental breakfast & wine/cheese social were great.
• Perhaps putting families with small children in one area would be better.

“We were able to check in 1 1/2 hours early with no problem. The room was nicely appointed. Better lighting near the chairs for reading would be nice. The maid forgot to replace the drinking glasses at the sink area the second day we were there. The continental breakfast was very nice, fresh fruit was included. The afternoon wine & cheese social was also very nice. The second night a family with two toddlers was given the room next to ours. The children woke up at 6:15 & apparently the parents didn't know how to keep them quiet! I complained at checkout. ”

• Conveniently located.
• Charge for daily parking is excessive.

“The inn was nice and clean and the staff was friendly. Walking distance to Cannery Row, restaurants and the Monterey Bay Museum. Would recommend this place to family and friends. This place charges $12 per day for parking - thought that was strange since ”

• Comfortable beds, in-room fireplace, wireless Internet.
• Parking additional $12 per day, no view, noisy and light on street side, wireless connection very poor.

“The shower had not been checked prior to our stay and was broken and inoperable. It really disrupted the whole morning getting ready for the event and there the whole day's planning off course. We arrived at the conference much later than we were expected. The good news was that the staff was very apologetic at the end and refunded one night of the stay. Also, there was supposed to be a free wireless Internet connection--however it worked extremely poorly even with a wireless antenna booster. I was finally able to connect adequately at one point with the Holiday Inn Express across the street!”

“The Victorian Inn is set in a wonderful location just a few blocks from Cannery Row and the beautiful bay. The rooms are lovely, very clean, comfortable and wonderfully appointed. This is a great place to stay while visiting Monterey.”

• The hotel was in an excellent location. Good breakfast. Attentive maids.
• Front desk staff was only "okay". Could use improvement.

“I was traveling with my 2 year old. I called ahead and asked if I could please check in at 3pm instead of 4pm. "No problem." Was the response. When I arrived at 3:30, no one was aware of my request, nor was it granted. I was told a half hour longer. I took a walk and arrived 45 minutes later and still had to wait 10 minutes for the room. I must admit my check in day was Monday, Memorial Day. TONS of people had checked out that day so I suppose I could understand. The ladies that cleaned the rooms were great. Very nice. Great hot tub. Good breakfast. No complaints.No one asked me if my stay was nice, though. Until now!I would stay at the Victorian Inn again!”

• Beautiful. Convenient. The room appointments. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT!!

“Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night due to our schedule. From the moment we checked in 'til we checked out our stay was most pleasant. The staff was tops. The room was beautiful. The grounds were beautiful. We could walk to one of our favorite restaurants. We will use this facility again if at all possible.”

• Gas fireplace in rooms, and location to Cannery Row.

“Asked for an inside room and they gave me a handicapped room which worked well. Very quiet. They did waive the $12 parking which seemed a bit high. Their buffet breakfast was an unexpected plus. Thanks”

• nice rooms, good bathrooms
• could do with upgrading their beds to higher quality

“Nice hotel, limited breakfast selection but it wa sincluded in the price. Bedroom and bathroom very nice, fireplace with gas log fire an attractive feature. The bed could do with upgrading. Blankets were the old fleece type synthetic style which are out of date. Overall a good stay - Staff helpful and free wireless internet access is always appreciated”
