“It was a good overall experience. They should do something about the hot water. It is hard to regulate and you can burn yourself if not careful!” Nov 3, 2009 by
Russ from Stockton
“The following is a letter sent in attempt to get a full refund for a terrible night spent at the Arena Hotel. Basically I got that per our phone conversation 10-21-09 you and your staff decided that our complaints are either unsubstantiated or too high of standards for you to be held responsible for. My wife and I expect to pay for the things we do and we expect reasonable products and services for our money. We have no predetermined ideas of free hand outs. We had a nice time despite your hotels best efforts to change that. Our Standards 1. Expect to be able to check our things into a hotel room well past check in time. In at least 2 attempts. 3 trips up and down stairs before finally getting in a room. 2. Expect that people do not just open our door despite do not disturb sign. No knock, no sorry. 3. Expect that the hotel may have more then 1 pillow on hand per guest. 4. Expect that the bedding has been changed and you wont wake up with some strangers finger-nail stuck to your leg. No one else should have your hotel as an option to stay in without knowing what their stay may be like.” Oct 21, 2009 by
Barbara from Portland,OR
“Nice spot with small kitchen. Very clean and comfortable. Easy to access from San Jose airport, Cal Train and Santa Clara University. I will stay again on future travels.” Sep 24, 2009 by
Scott from Redding,CA
“Nice rooms, staff and location. I will return.” Sep 10, 2009 by
Steve from Redding,CA “Excellent place to stay. Quiet, good food and very clean.” Sep 7, 2009 by
Scott from Sacramento,CA
“I was very impressed with this hotel. Each floor had an impressive open area with comfy chairs and nice tables. Complimentary dinner was a surprise to me. It was good. Room had plenty of lighting. Microwave oven, small refridgerator, jacuzzi tub, well lit vanity / sink area and a full length mirror were nice items to have. If the ceiling fan worked and the window was closeable I would not have any complaints.” Jul 10, 2009 by
Jeannie from Arnold,CA
“I have stayed here a couple of times before visiting my daughter at SJSU - this particular time we arrived at 1:30 am - hard to get in when we rang the entrance bell - gave me a May 6, 2009 by

“I would stay at this hotel again.” Apr 27, 2009 by
Vicki from Huntington Beach,CA
“The hotel was conveniently located to the university. It's clean, which was appreciated. Breakfast is offered every morning (surprisingly good). The staff knows the surrounding area and we found Starbucks and other restaurants with ease. We will definitely use this hotel again!” Apr 16, 2009 by
Flash from North Brunswick,NJ
“Quite adequate. Nothing extraordinary, but very clean and pleasant. If I go to another hockey game I'll certainly book here again.” Mar 9, 2009 by
Steve from Sacramento,CA
“Very close to HP Arena, this hotel had comfortable beds and was very clean. The free dinner (warming tray burgers and dogs) held us over until after the game. The breakfast was great, with biscuits and gravy, sausage, and eggs.” Feb 24, 2009 by
Randy from Eureka,CA
“It's an OK place to stay with a buddy if you're going to a hockey game, but I would not put my family there. Definitely not for a romantic getaway.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Angela from Petaluma, CA
“Overall, this hotel was good for what we needed. Which was a place to stay after our concert. The window was broken and would not open so I was pretty miserable. I was also disappointed that there is no kind of room service. The hotel is very old and little run down. I did really enjoy the Jacuzzi tubs though. It's a nice location and a quaint little place if you do not have high expectations. I did feel I pad way more than what I got though.” May 14, 2008 by
Judith from San Jose, CA
“If you're going to the HP Pavilion for a show, and just want to walk to the area to spare yourself from fighting the parking madness, this is the hotel for you.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Stacy from Lodi, CA
“Went to a concert at HP Pavilion. Saved money because we took advantage of the complementary dinner & breakfast and could walk to the concert so no parking fee. The food was OK. Room was clean and had a refrigerator. Was perfect for what we needed it for. Would definitely come again if attending another concert. Good value!” Jan 15, 2008 by
Tucker from Arcata, CA
“A good budget hotel for a Sharks game.” Dec 18, 2007 by
Sharon from Hayward, CA
“We were very pleased with the look of this hotel. It was within walking distance of the hp Arena. Very clean, lots of lobby area to meet with other people. Unfortunately, the people in the room next door stayed up all night talking. If you have hip problems the tub may be difficult to get into and out of. It has very high edges.” Oct 2, 2007 by
Bonnie from Rancho Cordova, CA
“The location was very convenient. I like the hotel because it is an older remodeled hotel with only three floors. It is very nicely deco-rated and very comfortable.” Jul 5, 2007 by
Joan from Wilmington, NC
“Overall, I thought this hotel was very good. The lobby was decorated nice and the buffet breakfast was good. It could have used a few more nutritious choices, like whole-grain bread, oatmeal, etc. We didn't get a chance to try out the complimentary light dinner. The only complaint I have is that they were running short on washcloths, so we had to improvise with hand towels.” May 18, 2007 by
Becky from Creston, CA
“This hotel was a great place to stay. They had the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in a hotel. It was located on a quiet street even though it was downtown. The courtyard outside was beautiful as was the lobby. Free parking was a big plus too! I would definitely stay there again!” Mar 23, 2007 by
Ron from Fresno, CA
“Very good value. Room was clean and comfortable. Close proximity to the hp pavilion makes it an ideal place to stay if you¿re attending an event at the pavilion.” Mar 14, 2007 by
C. Lewis “Hotel is close to Pavilion, which is super convenient, but the walk between the hotel and the Pavilion goes by some abandoned buildings and can be sketchy to walk alone at night.” Mar 5, 2007 by
Charney from Queen Creek, AZ
“The arena is priced below value. It is much nicer than any other hotel I¿ve stayed at for a comparable price.” Feb 22, 2007 by
Emmie from Eureka, CA
“I was very happy staying at this hotel. They have a curfew of 10:00 pm (quiet time) and also the front lobby was closed unless you have a room key. I felt very safe and had a nice quiet sleep. The idea of having breakfast & dinner included in this price and at the hotel very much appealed to me. I felt I got a good price for the room, dinner was good (but should be explained that it is like a home cooked meal) not to expect a fancy dining quality meal. Breakfast was better you got allot of choices, buffet style. I was very happy with both meals, and didn't have to leave the premises. It was well worth the price of the room. As an overnight stay I really enjoyed my stay and would stay at another arena hotel if the chance comes up again.” Jan 16, 2007 by
Irene from Canyon Country, CA
“This hotel was a delight. It was centrally located. The rooms were clean & well equipped. We have always enjoyed our stays there.” Jan 1, 2007 by
William from Kingsburg, CA
“Friendly staff, excellent accommodations and dining experiences.” Dec 20, 2006 by
Marie O. from Kingsburg, CA
“Terrific value for the money. Definitely recommend it and will stay there again. Breakfast was a real bonus, buffet style lots of choices. We booked three rooms for our family. No one was unhappy with this choice. Very comfortable/clean/spacious.” Dec 10, 2006 by
Curt from Clovis, CA
“Over all it was fine. If I need a room in the area I will check back.” Nov 20, 2006 by
Liam from Charlottesville, VA
“This is a decent and economic hotel--bland breakfast and dinner food (but they're both free!). I'd have given this place an overall good rating, but for the mouse in my bathroom (!)--which makes me have some doubts about the cleanliness of the place.” Nov 16, 2006 by
Jennifer from Live Oak, CA
“The neighborhood was in a cute area of san Jose. With lots of little shops close, a coffee shop and a motorcycle shop across the street. I would highly recommend this hotel. I will stay there next time I travel to this destination.” Nov 13, 2006 by
Edward P. from Rancho Murieta, CA
“The arena hotel in san Jose was perfect for me!” Nov 13, 2006 by
Julie from Edina, MN
“With the exception of the woman at the front desk the place was not a 3 star hotel and should not be presented that way. Luckily we were able to move to a different hotel however we did not recover our money. ” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 7, 2006 by

“Within walking distance of downtown and only a 2 minute walk to the San Jose Arena this hotel is perfect for anyone. The biggest attraction would be its Jacuzzi baths which they provide complimentary bubble bath for and the good-size rooms plus the design of the hotel. I felt it was worth every penny spent.” Sep 21, 2006 by
Maria from Vallejo, CA
“I had a good experience while at the Arena Hotel, it was clean & a good price.” Sep 3, 2006 by
Mildred from Paradise, CA
“It was convenient; enjoyed the stay. Only problem was trying to use spa bath in my room.” Aug 31, 2006 by
Kacie from Rogue River, OR
“The hotel was clean and pretty well kept. It was in a nice, safe location for walking around while touring around San Jose. There where minor repairs that should be notice in our room but nothing that wouldn't make me stay there again.” Aug 11, 2006 by
Diane from Sacramento, CA
“It was great very charming and inviting. I cannot wait to back to San Jose and stay there again. The staff was helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great weekend.” Jul 15, 2006 by
Frank from Mililani, HI
“3 story hotel with lots of charm, old fashion and quaint, located in downtown artsy locale, close to train station and HP Pavilion Highly recommend to all travelers.” Jul 13, 2006 by
Steve from Las Vegas, NV
“This hotel would be worth the price if you had time for the breakfast and dinner buffet. The free cookie at check in was stale. The room was great including a microwave, fridge, and Jacuzzi tub!” Jun 21, 2006 by
Gerald from Erie, PA
“Non-smoking room was large and clean. King size bed was quite comfortable. Ceiling fan was nice. The kitchenette in the room was a surprise. Never could figure out how some of the wall switches were wired. Breakfast was excellent; did not try dinner. Staff was pleasant, but they let our key expire a day early.” Jun 21, 2006 by
Cheryl L. from Bonney Lake, WA.
“We just got back yesterday, June 20th, 2006, from staying at the Arena Hotel. We were there for my son's wedding. We stayed at the hotel for several days and loved it. We were really impressed with this hotel and the staff members. The staff members were great, particularly Neil. He was awesome. We were late getting there because we got lost and we were suppose to check in by 6pm. He told us not to worry about it, held our room and talked us through the maze of roads and traffic to safely get us to the hotel. Also, the photo's of this hotel does not do it justice by any means. We will be going to California at least 2-4 times a year to visit my son and his new wife and when we do, we will always stay at the Arena Hotel. The meals they offered with their rooms were also very good and very filling. It's just great. There is no way I could say enough good things about them. I recommend them 100%.” Jun 9, 2006 by
Angela from Modesto, CA
“I thought it was a great deal for the money, a very nice lobby and mezzanine on each floor, and had all the amenities I needed, including parking.” May 17, 2006 by
Lydia from San Jose, CA
“For the price the hotel amenities at the Arena hotel were good. It got a little noisy but overall the hotel sufficiently met the needs of my guest who I actually purchased it for.”
