“Will not stay there again.” Jan 5, 2008 by
Bryan from Santa Rosa, CA
“The room was in shambles, the carpet was disgusting, part of the wall were the window was cut was moldy.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Lucas from Santa Cruz, CA
“Very convenient but the spa and pool were out of order this was one of the reasons I chose this hotel and then could not use them.” Dec 18, 2007 by
Helen from Chattanooga, TN
“I have no clued how this hotel was rated 2 stars. The attendant is one person 24 hrs, sleepy at all times. He didn't know we had booked a king bed. When I asked he said he has a king bed room that hasn't been clean a can have it if I want or I can have the queen "clean" room. We agreed to take the queen bed room, the bathroom corners were all black with mold. The doors were so dirty I had to use tissue to touch them, so were the walls. I took pictures of it. If you'd like it I will send them to you so you can improve your services and not sell stuff that does not deserve and rating for 2 star hotels. Continental breakfast was poppy seed cake and cold apple juice and no body touched it.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Betty from Gardnerville, NV
“Couldn't understand motel clerk. Room was dirty hasn't been deep cleaned in years. Fan was loud and turned on every time you turned on light.” Nov 27, 2007 by
John from Cortez, CO
“We arrived at the hotel with some nervousness after reading the reviews. The hotel is probably in the one to two star ranges. But the staff was friendly and responsive to us, the parking wasn't an issue, the location is great (near the beach and downtown) and the price can't be beat. The beds and bedding in the two room suite were comfortable, the hot water hot, the cold water cold the air comfortably warm. The furniture was reasonably good quality if old and worn. The room clearly needs some maintenance, but it didn't detract from our stay--we felt we had reasonable privacy and comfort.” Nov 19, 2007 by
Veronica from Stockton, CA
“The hotel room was filthy, not even a 1 star quality. There was dirt/dust build up in every corner, and the bathroom was filled with mold growing inside the shower walls, as well as on the ceiling and walls of the entire room. The pillows and bedding smelled so poorly that I purchased bedding from Costco to make it through the night. This is only a few of the worst details.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Javier from Sacramento, CA
“Not what I expected from a two star hotel.” Nov 5, 2007 by
Roy from San Antonio, TX
“Other online reviews were bad, but it was slightly better than expected.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Douglas from San Diego, CA
“Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.” Oct 24, 2007 by
Amanda from Placerville, CA
“I have already filed several complaints ken offered a non smoking room with two beds but said that he would charge extra if we used both beds, so I requested a room with a single bed. The only one available was in a smoking room, to which he said "have your single bed smell the smoke and die" followed by several curse words. The counters were peeling, the shower cracked, and the paint and walls in poor repair.” Oct 21, 2007 by
E from San Jose, CA
“It was okay. Just a very basic room brings your own pillow.” Oct 21, 2007 by
Mike from St George, UT
“For what I paid for IA two star I thought I got a good deal when checked in very friendly but as I walked in to my room first off light switch didnt work by the door hallway light didnt work there was two rooms the back room lights didnt work ether the toilet in the bath room was very loose every morning would wake up to a puddle of water behind the toilet and the curtains werent even big enough to cover up the windows so I could lay in bed and see everyone that walked by on both sides of the window!” Oct 18, 2007 by
Garry from Sacramento, CA
“I refused to stay at this property because of how seedy it was.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Robert from Santa Rosa, CA
“Very sub standard. Not furnished as indicated in pictures. Fridge, microwave. Noise with other rooms. Parties in rooms. Beds not good. Bath floor very dirty.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Art from Orange, CT
“Hotel is okay for an overnight stay.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Jessica from Elk Grove, CA
“This hotel was garbage! I was disappointed with the quality of the room. It was more upsetting when the staff gave us trouble when we asked for blankets. The room was in poor condition. I would never stay there again.” Sep 26, 2007 by
Nancy from Encinitas, CA
“The hotel was old and run down. Furniture old and wallpaper was patched and dingy. But linens were clean, carpets were clean and bathroom was clean. Way over priced. Have stayed in nicer hotels in area a little farther from beach that was less expensive. For the prices they charge they should be able to do some painting and up keep!” Sep 8, 2007 by
Sandy from Willows, CA
“I would stay there again with my family. It's close to the boardwalk and very comfortable.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Patricia from Sacramento, CA
“It smelled horrible; we had to sleep with door open. No air conditioning, a 19" TV from the 70's that the color was going out, mold in the bath, stains on the walls, broken fixtures on the dressers, bathroom window was so molded that the wallpaper didnt' stick which revealed the black mold.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Sherri from Keyes, CA
“I will never stay there again.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Carmen from Sonora, CA
“I was accommodated with a new room at no charge, management cleared up situation with first room immediately.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Loren from Cambell, CA
“Never again.” Aug 24, 2007 by
Arthur from Fresno, CA
“I think that the motel was a bit overpriced but then again it was located three blocks from the beach boardwalk. This 1950's motel needs a makeover. Our grandson seemed to enjoy the place, and it appears to be kid friendly and safe.” Aug 2, 2007 by
Brian from Yuma, AZ
“The hotel provided bare minimum accommodations. Parking was packed or not available. The first night we had to park on the street. The second night we parked in the motel's parking lot but parking was extremely tight. Our vehicle was dinged from others opening their car doors. The rooms were very basic and outdated. Rooms had not air conditioning and were stuffy. Cleanliness and overall maintenance of rooms were sub-par. Yes, it is an older motel but maintenance of the facility seemed to be done as patchwork and attempting to do it at minimum cost. The TV was old and in poor condition. Channels were limited with varying degrees of quality reception. The one positive about the room was that it was large, which created a lot of open space since the rooms were minimally furnished. It has been years since I have stayed at a Travelodge and now I remember why. The hotel was, in my estimation, within a mile of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk; however, due to the size of Santa Cruz, most hotels are going to fall within three miles of the Boardwalk and beach so I wouldn't pay a premium for location. This hotel made a hefty profit off of us. If you can find other accommodations go there. I would use this motel as a last resort as a matter of fact; I think I would rather sleep in my car!” Jul 15, 2007 by
Justin from Escalon, CA
“This should be rated a 1 star if not lower for sure, there is no way it should have been ranked a 2 star on your site.” Jul 13, 2007 by
Sara from Elk Grove, CA
“I would recommend this hotel if traveling with children. The separate bedroom was great, it was a short walk to the boardwalk and the staff was friendly.” Jul 13, 2007 by
Kacy from Modesto, CA
“Good, if you're not expecting too much. Less pricey.” Jul 9, 2007 by
Tina from Oakland, CA
“This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The dust was thick, The carpet was dirty looked as if it has never been clean, The tub was percent stained and dirty with mold, the toilet as well, mice dropping where behind my bed, the wall unit heater did not work, there was an electric heater approx ten yrs. old , it worked. It was so noisy I had a hard time trying to sleep. It had an soiled old soft, white with stains all over it, the dinning set looked as if it was found off the trash pile, If the bed linen was not clean I would have left this dump, I really would like half of my money back, This was a total rip off. Total ripe off. You have been good in the past but this was offer, I could not believe it, I was truly up set with you.” Jun 28, 2007 by
Kara from Sacramento, CA
“I had a great time while staying but like I said the room could have been cleaned up toughly.” Jun 27, 2007 by
Phred from Meadow Vista, CA
“Double queen bed room was actually a suite, quite a surprise. The owners were rude to not only myself but to other customers as well. When you are told that "your room is down there and if it is not ready you will just have to wait" doesn't make for a pleasant stay.” Jun 7, 2007 by
Tracy from Bakersfield, CA
“It was listed as a family lodge and no noise after 10pm, but there was noise when the neighbors came in at midnight till they went to bed (past out) at 3 am. The pool stated heated. It wasn't. The towels were stained and thin. I guess it would qualify for a high price star me, but I thought we were getting a star ii. I would not stay there again. I would pay $20 more a night and stay at a best western or other.” Mar 20, 2007 by
Bob (. from Ewa Beach, HI
“Management gave a clear message that he was totally skimping to save money. We had to wait for services, since we had to request them ahead of time, such as taking the chill out of the room. It was cold.” Mar 12, 2007 by
Dennis from Beaumont, CA
“I would rather sleep in my car than to stay there again. Would have left on 1st night but no other accommodations were available in town but only stayed first night and have referred charges to my credit card company as your customer service desk refused to do anything about this situation.” Jan 12, 2007 by
Pasha from Elk Grove, CA
“Not such a bad place to stay in Santa Cruz if you are on a limited budget. Walking distance to the downtown (pacific sty) is a big plus. Don't count on them to prepare coffee for you in the morning, though ;).” Nov 19, 2006 by
Krissy
“The owners were not friendly, walls were thin, and room was dirty with stained carpets and bedspreads. Even found a long black hair in the bathtub. Nasty! And they charged me an extra $30. No explanation just charged my card. Still waiting to find out why. Never again!” Oct 23, 2006 by
Rose B. from Sacramento, CA
“The hotel was good for the price. We rented a room that had a second included. The hotel only provided one TV for the two rooms. The hotel is an older building and the heater did not work, but they did provide one portable heater for the two rooms. I also noticed that there is no air conditioning for the summer months.” Sep 20, 2006 by
Denis from Palos Verdes Est., CA
“We walked in paying 175 and the person next to us had just came in from the street and paid 129 for the same room. You should be ashamed that you even offer this hotel, it shows that you only want to make the $$ and not provide good services. I will never spend another penny with you. ” Aug 23, 2006 by
Amanda from Reno, NV
“Very unfriendly manager/owner-said I could not have visitors Wanted to charge me $20 for a roll away bed. No air conditioning in 90 degree heat. Old carpet, wallpaper, etc. No exhaust fan in bathroom. ” Aug 22, 2006 by
Richard from Elk Groce, CA
“This hotel was in a bad neighborhood, and I would not stay here again. If your only concern is price, then this is the hotel for you.” Aug 1, 2006 by
Amanda from Napa, CA
“Wasn't worth the money.” Jul 19, 2006 by
Mike from Tulare, CA
“Clean and quiet at night. Rooms are in dire need of updating. Don't think it was worth the amount of money I paid.” Jun 8, 2006 by
Jessica from Sacramento, CA
“This hotel has a good location in relation to the beach, but it's not the cleanliest, quietest hotel. The hotel didn't feel safe to stay at as the window in the front room didn't close and it had no air conditioning so we had to keep the back window open. The people living behind the hotel were up until 3 or 4 in the morning parting and it was very hard to sleep. ” May 17, 2006 by
Melissa from Merced, CA
“This hotel looks great in pictures, the lobby is the nicest place in the hotel. The pool and spa were fizzing with too much chlorine, the walls were thin and we could hear everything around us. The TVs on either side of us were so loud we were able to watch our TV on mute. The TV remote did not work and the TV itself was older than I am. The windows did not lock and actually fell off the track when we tried to close it again. The air/heat did not work, and we had to request a plug for the tub. The two small pillows were flat and old, the walls were dingy and everything seemed dirty. The "hot spot" breakfast consisted of poppy seed bread and horrible cranberry juice, both days, nothing hot about it! The pool in the photos is really nice, obviously taken when it was new. It doesn't look like that now. The only remotely positive aspect of our stay was the proximity to the beach, about four blocks. The hotel is in a bad neighborhood with no security in the parking lot. No cameras, gates, good lighting, nothing. The vending machines were outrageously expensive and not in a convenient location to anyone but passing pedestrians The review of the hotel says no noise after 10, that is not true. The worst noise was after 10 when the younger crowd came home and the owner/management was sleeping. Overall, I would not recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to pay for anything over $40. It was not a place who should be able to charge more than $40 a night, regardless of location. For $100+ a night, they should spend money on upkeep and maintenance and obviously do not.” Apr 18, 2006 by
Lynda from San Mateo, CA
“IT was the worst hotel I EVER have stayed at. I was under the impression that the Travel Lodge name has SOME basic standards it's locations had to comply with.” Mar 6, 2006 by
Jeff from Long Beach, CA
“Disgusted by the lack of customer service. Manager was rude, threatening and uncaring. I am in the process of complaining to Travelodge about the whole situation.” Feb 28, 2006 by
Will from Daly City, CA
“I would not recommend this hotel (motel, actually). It wasn't terrible, but the room really smelled bad. They advertise an indoor pool, which they have, but the structure is not heated and the pool is only slightly heated. The hot tub (warm tub, really) was OK.” Feb 15, 2006 by
Donna from San Jose, CA
“This hotel was on worth the money. ”
