• Good freeway access, close to Oakland Coliseum.
• Not a very good neighborhood.

“This hotel caters to sports fans who attend events nearby. The hotel is everything you would expect of a 2 star hotel. For example, if you are in one of the better rooms, you will be charged to access premium channels. If in a lower end room, premium channels are free and you have to go to the restaurant to obtain ice.”

• Nothing got stolen from our van.
• Dingy room, rude staff, sketchy location.

“Got in late, which seemed to greatly annoy desk clerk. Once in room, called & asked for an extra blanket & towels, to which I was told 'we do not have any', then a testy explanation that all the towels & blankets were locked away. Wow-- I didn't realize the area was so dangerous that even the towels needed safeguarding! Wallpaper was peeling, fixtures rusty, mildew in bathroom, cable TV was advertised but turned out to be 'broken'. Best thing I can say about the place is that nothing was stolen from the van, and no major diseases were contracted during the stay. 2 1/2 stars my butt. This place should be a 1/2 star. ”

• Very convenient location for where we needed to go.
• No premium cable channels (HBO, CNN). No elevator.

“Not a bad place to stay IF you're looking to be within walking distance from the Coliseum and have reasonably low expectations. We had read all the horrible reviews on Trip Advisor, and were prepared for the worst and in truth, it wasn't that bad. It was clean, well lit, friendly but understaffed. Even a weak wi-fi internet signal for an additional $10 a day, but would it have killed them to provide a little CNN or HBO?”

• It is convenient to the airport.
• The walls are paper thin, you could hear a normal conversation in the next room.

“The room was generally comfortable, but as I noted above, sounds like normal conversation carried into the next room and the sounds of rolling suitcases awakened me in the morning. Good thing as I tried to get a wake up call twice but could get no answer on the line and I couldn't get the alarm clock to work. The lobby was attractive. No VCR or DVD.”

• Day desk clerk nice.
• Hotel dirty, run down, front desk clerk kind of rude & unhelpful.

“Was disappointed. There was a motel 6 right next door that looked cleaner and nicer. The clerk that checked me in was rude, snapped at me. When I called later to get some extra sheets and blankets, he claimed that he would only give me one blanket that's it and claimed they had absolutely no extra sheets. The bathroom had rusty fixtures and peeling wall paper. I felt ripped off. ”

• Close to the interstate, good swimming pool.
• Poor neighborhood, panhandlers, etc.

“Good for a quick overnight stop, you probably would not want to stay a week. Convenient location, close to airport and highways, poor neighborhood. Cost-effective, no frills, fast-food & gas nearby. Adequate amenities, have to go to the restaurant for ice.”

• lower rooms near pool were quieter. close to airport
• extremely rude staff at check in with more than one customer. when asked for assistance or basic needs

“poor food in cafeteria. cold breakfast limited selection. no safe restauraunts in the area. even though there were quiet rooms near pool on lower level, I was placed in noisy room where people were yelling and facing bright lights from another facility and couldnt sleep. Night staff rude and would not assist when I asked for simple help such as airport shuttle, getting in room, travel directions”

• Updated and large rooms . Also they had a restaurant . They let me stay in the tower which was quieter and safer.
• Bartender charged me 15 bucks for a cocktail and then talked my ear off.

• rude staff, all ice machines near your room suspiciously broken so that you have to enter the lobby for ice. Dirty.

“This is a 2 1/2 star the should be rated as a 1 star. The are rude and arrogant. It is disgusting to have to get dress if you want ice, because the only ice machine (working) is in the bar. The tub was dirty with a ring around it. No amenities.No free local calls, no free internet access.1 star.”

“ This is the first time where I did not enjoy my stay. I didn't feel very safe walking in from my car into the hotel lobby especially as a late check-in. I would recommend to lower the star rating for this hotel. ”

• The price was the only redeeming quality.
• The room and its furniture was in disrepair -- definitely not 2.5-star quality.

“This hotel was not at all conveniently located to downtown Oakland, which I was led to believe when bidding on it. Also, the hotel was not close to being 2.5-star quality as advertised. The furniture was missing drawers, the room was as small and dirty as a cheap motel, the curtains on the windows did not fully close, and the shower malfunctioned.”

“The hotel was not the 2 1/2 stars it said it was. When I arrived, the room I had requested on the phone was not available becaue it was dirty (according to the desk). Though the clerk was accomodating, it wasn't what I had requested. The shower head did not work , and was slipping during my shower. Old soap was still in the tub from a prior guest. Fortunately I was only staying one night.”

• It was close to the airport
• It was a pretty scary neighborhood. Really OLD cheap quality on all items.

“The staff was helpfull. But the hotel it self was very run down. It could use a major update to be considered 3 star. I felt like we were in a 70's time warp.”

• when I complained, they moved me to a better, but not great room. It was supposedly an upgrade.
• first room was really dirty. poor job of vacuuming, dirt along all baseboards. tub had hair and black grime in it. upgraded room better, not great.

“the hotel is in a commercial and high crime area near the airport. It used to be a holiday inn and is now owned by some local group. first room faced the parking lot. no security on duty at hotel. lots of freeway noise. room was dirty. no one had vacuumed along the baseboards in a long time. tub had black grime in it and hairs. towels were old and cheap. few amenities. I complained about room and was given an "upgrade" to the tower. room was no larger or better furnished. just looked cleaner and was on 3rd floor so felt safer. however, lobby doors to parking area did not lock, so there was no way to stop anyone from walking in and this lobby had no human supervision. I do not ever want to stay there again. NOT a 3 star hotel!”

“This hotel was *clearly* substandard. Was a motel - not a hotel. In the middle of renovations. The forst room I had, key did not work. Second room I had had no HS Internet, depsite what the hotel advertised. Third room was in an area I was assured had HS Internet. It didn't work. I finally left the hotel and went to a Courtyard nearly. ”

• I didn't like the fact that the Clarion signs were not up on the building. I drove around for 30 minutes looking for this place.

• trying to make a motel style room look like an upscale one - cramped space in room - hard to find (address not reflective of actual location) - sign

“Obviously the Clarion recently took over this hotel. While looking for the hotel, I couldn't find it because it was off the road and the sign said Holiday Inn with a nearly transparent banner saying Clarion covering. (At night, you could still clearly see the Holiday Inn sign)”

“This hotel was advertised as 3 stars but it's not much nicer, cleaner than the Days Inn next door which is considered 2 stars. In fact the room was a lot smaller and kind of had a motel ambiance. No major complaints just that it wasn't what I expected. Overall, my stay was pleasant.”

“Did not recognize how much the area adjacent to Oakland Airport had degraded in the last few years. I would have felt safer in Baghdad than in that general area East of Hwy 880. Even though the hotel had good security the surrounding area was the pits especially after 1200 AM.”

• The freeway entrance was right in front of the hotel. It was quite and clean.
• Took an hour to locate hotel because there were bed sheets on Holiday Inn signs and very small Clarion sign which was impossible to read at night.

“Once I arrived my experience was great. The priceline point A to point B directions were very poor. I work in the area and still couldn't follow them. I work 20 minutes away. The way the signs were covered it looked like they were paint the hotel not changing ownership. Once there there the hotel was great, very clean, friendly staff and the room was comfortable.”

• The hotel restaurant offered excellent food.
• Mis-management of room assignments to guests; failure to clean rooms before assigning to new guest; neglect in providing wake-up call.

“Room assigned to us was not made up (at 5:00 PM)when we opened door, and we had to return to desk for another room. While we were going to bed, a person opened our room door with card key, insisting it was his room. Although a wake up call was requested of a desk clerk, none was made the next morning and we were 45 minutes late in preparing to go to airport. (Fortunately we made our plane).”

• It was close to the freeway.
• At 7 am two guests were engaged in a screaming, profane argument. It went on for about fifteen minutes. Desk clerk did nothing.

“This place is a dive! (two and a half stars, ha!). The lobby was deserted when we arrived. I felt like I was checking in to the Bates Motel. And at 7am Sunday morning two guests started a loud argument in courtyard, screaming profanities for 15 minutes. When the desk finally answered my complaint call, all they could say was that the police were on their way. Scary, dangerous place to be avoided. We couldn't wait to get out of there.”

• I would expect a 3-star hotel to have internet access to rooms.
