• Clean room, excellent bed.
• Had to pay $20 to park my car in hotel lot.

“I was surprised when the desk person told me that we would not be allowed to have the complimentary breakfast. The parking constitutes a small part of their business expense, but make a solid impression on the customer. I will not visit this hotel again.”

• Location.

“This Marriot Courtyard was not up to par like others that we have stayed in. Oakland is a very scary city and we were hoping to get a hotel near the airport. I did not have an area option for Oakland. I realize I took a chance. We were frightened by the noise and we never got a the wake up call we requested. We realize that the hotel tried to keep the characters out.”

“Be warned the only parking available is valet parking (they will not tell you where you can park cheaper even though there are places around), they charge $20 a day. A cheap hotel room, suddenly isn't so cheap to say the least. There is also no room service which I was really surprised by.”

“I wished they would have stated up front that parking would be 20.00 I awoke to find a note left under the door stating that this charge was added to my credit card. No help or cart made available to get my luggage from the car, to the lobby. Other that that I enjoyed my room and stay.”

• I have stayed here twice now. The room is clean and comfortable. The staff has always been friendly and helpful.
• The parking charge. Located in Chinatown business district so its can be noisy.

“Comfortable, clean and a good upper moderate hotel. I have stayed here twice with no issues. Do not like the $20.00 a day parking charge and not convenient to public transportation. But, it fits my needs and I would stay here again.”

“The hotel was clean and well located between Old Oakland and Chinatown, 7 blocks from the Ferry and Waterfront. It was a very functional hotel, but no glitz and glamour.

“Excellent location, adjacent to China Town, easy to access from Amtrak and Jack London Square. Difficult to find dining options in the evening, except very pricey ones. This is a luxury hotel.”

• Room was attractive and comfortable.
• Slow car valet service.

“Clean and pleasant, geared to business travel. The staff was helpfull but brusk. Not overly friendly. The parking offered was manditory valet parking for an additional $20 plus tips. I paid cash but they charged my card anyway. The charge was later refunded.”

• Very conveniently located near Oakland Chinatown. Had to pay for valet parking every night we stayed.
• The facility, especially our room was always set to a cold temp and we had to always adjust our room.

• To get to the gym and pool area you had to go through the loby.

• I like how spacious the rooms are and how close the hotel is to shopping, dining, and city transit system.
• The staff was nice, but did not take initiative to be helpful and to make the costumer service stand out. The parking is outrageous!

“Very nice location. Close to city transit system, shopping, and dining. Quaint building, but very impressive and clean on the inside. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Nice facilities. The only complaint is that the parking is ridiculous for a hotel! $20 a night for guests!? That is unreal.”

• Nice lobby, easy valet.
• Some staff wasn't helpful to the point of ignoring us.

“All in all, it was nice. But our bathtub plug didn't work, so when I tried to take a soak in the tub, the water wouldn't stay in the bath. Other than that, housekeeping was great, the location is convenient to BART and shops, restaurants. It's literally on the cusp of Downtown Oakland and Chinatown.”

“This hotel is located in downtown Oakland. It is very convenient to highways and to the BART. However, at night this area seemed pretty sketchy. The rooms were clean, but a bit dated. The milk at their market was a week past its expiration date.”

• Great downtown location. Salt water filtered warm swimming pool. Clean hot tub.
• Getting into valet parking when the street was shut down 3 days for the Chinatown festival.

“The Courtyard Marriot in downtown Oakland is a great place to stay when you need to do a lot of different things in the Bay area. It's central location offers quick access to Bart, buses, trains and the airport. It is a cultural crossroads on the edge of Chinatown. And there is a great farmers market every Friday morning just across the street. The rooms were spotless, and the staff was professional and friendly.”

• The staff was excellent from check-in to check-out.
• The dining room was under-staffed, but the workers there had and excellent attitude and smiles on their faces.

“This was a pleasant experience. We were surprised at the cleanliness, also the quality of the bedding was nice. The staff was excellent, everyone from the valet, front desk, dining room staff, breakfast cook was respectful and friendly. The dining room was short handed, but, the sincerity and friendliness of staff won us over (I've worked in food service for 27 years and I know the pressure you can be under). It was also a surprise to find ourselves in downtown China town Oakland. We loved watching the bustle of the markets in the neighborhood.”

• Hotel staff was excellent, room was functional.
• Pool was a little small and very rough. My son scraped up his feet and hands.

“This hotel was nice and is located near the Tribune building in Downtown Oakland (which is very pretty). The staff was very helpful, from the check in/out team to the valet attendant. The pool is a little small and the hot tub is completely away from it. The room was a little small, but very functional.”

• Did not like this hotel for the second time.

“This hotel is out of area, not so good part of town. The management is rude each time I have been at this hotel I have had problems. Have been taken out of service and that we the traveler are second rate and they treat you that way very disappointed. The first night I stayed there the toilet did not flush and I received bites from something on my bed. The next day they move me to another room. However this has been a bad experience. Disappointed to say the least.”

• I loved the beds very comfortable.
• No parking unless you pay 20.00 for valet service. We had to park on the street, pay for meter parking before 8 am or receive parking ticket.

“Great hotel, but they need to clean the curb areas they were filled with trash. Since this hotel is located Downtown in the china town district they should have someone to daily clean the curb street areas.”

“This hotel is in the heart of downtown Oakland, close to Jack London Square, Lake Merritt, the BART and many restaurants, bars and clubs. The room and bathroom were spacious, the staff and valet attendants were friendly and in general I had a great stay. I felt safe in the neighborhood and did not hear much noise from the room.”

• The area in downtown Oakland was not as safe feeling as I might have liked.

“This hotel was very nice. After checking out early from a hotel in San Francisco where we'd had a terrible experience, it was a big relief to get to this new hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was big and nice, it was quiet and safe and clean. I especially liked the 24-hour store in the lobby- that turned out to be very convenient. I also had a flat tire one morning and the valet changed my tire for me in about 5 minutes so I wouldn't be late for my appointment. Overall, our stay here was very nice and I would definitely stay here again!”

• Had to pay for parking. I think it should be free for guest.

“The hotel and staff was in good standing. I didn't like the fact that I had to pay for parking. Was not anticipating on paying an extra 18 buck for parking overnight. Then I was next to a room with very noisy guest. Don't know for sure if it was the staff or regular guests. The sign across the hall said staff area. Overall everyone was friendly and polite.”
