• The restaurants around the corner.
• No front desk help.

“The place is kind of hard to find, entrance on side street. Its past its prime in the hood. But the nickel and dime aspect makes this a looser 29 buck for parking and internet is 12 bucks. Just not a get down and work sort of place..”

• Did not validate our parking in their garage.

“This hotel was the worst one my husband and I have stayed at I love Marriott but this one was horrible! Valet parking was a joke $28.00 a night, they didn't validate our parking for their parking garage so we had to pay $24.00 for twenty four hours and there was no in/out allowed once your car was in the garage you could not take it back out until you checked out.”

• Buffet was awesome. Front desk was great and valet was friendly as well.
• Parking was almost $30 plus tips!

• Real nice room. Comfortable bed-nice bedding.

• It was an eye appealing hotel. The room was very clean and all the bedding was attractive.
• There was no parking. We had to pay $24 per night to park at a negotiated parking facility.

“This hotel was very nice. It was clean and had a restaurant downstairs to dine at. The Bart subway and bus transport were across the street which was also very convenient. Even with the parking being expensive, I would come again.”

• Right on BART line, great bay view.
• A little run down.

“My son and I enjoyed our stay here. Oakland's Art and Soul festival was going on that weekend, and it was literally right out the front door. Also, Chinatown and Jack London Square and Lake Merritt are all within a comfortable ten block or so walk. Not having a car, it was also great to have BART right out the front door. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, and a terrific view of the bay bridge and Oakland docks. Although clean, the hotel could use some updating/upgrading of fixtures, etc. Overall, we were quite satisfied. We will definitely return soon.”

• The staff was excellent, beautiful hotel, excellent view of the city from my room, felt like a 5 star luxury hotel for a very economical price.
• There wasn't anything I didn't dislike.

“My cousin and I had an excellent experience staying at the hotel. Staff was professional, friendly and courteous. I would stay there again and recommend it.”

• Luxurious room and super comfortable bed and bedding, clean.
• Parking fees ($24 for self park, $31 for valet).

“The best! Wonderfully, comfortable beds and pillows, convenient location and nice view. Only down side was self parking in garage was $24 for 7 hours or more ( with no in-and-out privileges) or about $31 for valet parking.”

• We were so thrilled with this hotel. The location we were not so sure about. All was perfect. Thanks.

“Overall hotel facility is good. But location is in downtown which means it's not clean/safe. And I have to pay $31 for parking. There is public parking for $24; there is no meaning for this. And room is extremely small and not even square.”

• They tried to overcharge me. Also, very expensive parking.

“I settled my bill when I checked out. Two days later I checked my credit card statement online and discovered an extra charge. When I called the hotel they said it was for bottled water (which I did not use). They agreed to remove the charge. Obviously, they can receive extra revenue from guests who do not complain to them.”

• You had to pay $24 a day for parking.

• I was not happy with paying $9.99 for internet per day and $26 for parking per day and $30 for a refrigerator.

“This is a great hotel if you're on business in SF. Not great for families. A panhandler walked kept asking for money and walked into the lounge with me and it was really weird. Be careful about all the extras that they charge for that are typically free in even smaller hotels.”

• Parking was $25 per day, on street parking metered 8-6 Mon-Sat).

“I loved the hotel itself, but was appalled that we had to park on the street (metered parking 8-6 Mon-Sat) because the underground parking was $25/day. Outrageous. Plus, we had to pay for internet access, also outrageous at $9.95 from noon-noon. I was given two days for 9.95 by the front desk. Props for their courteousness. What began as a very reasonably priced hotel room turned into more expense than we expected. Not a good surprise for customers who are very price conscious. These two points affected my scoring above. Otherwise, it would have excellent everywhere.”

• I liked everything about this hotel!
• I did not like that there was no parking discount for hotel guests and no in and out privileges.

“This hotel was fabulous. The lobby was spacious and clean; the front desk staff was extremely friendly; and the views from the rooms are amazing. Plus the pool area is clean and the heated pool is huge plus. The front desk girl let us check in early because they had clean rooms, which was a huge help. This hotel is located right next to a BART terminal or within walking distance of tons of shops and restaurants. I was extremely surprised by how wonderful downtown Oakland was and would stay there again in a heart beat!”

• I loved the customer service and the location of the room. The view was amazing.
• Parking lot was too expensive but we found parking on the street that was affordable. Also there is no Jacuzzi.

“I love city of Oakland and the location of the Marriott is right in the heart of downtown Oakland. We were close the tourist locations as well as normal, everyday lifestyles. It was good to experience both aspects of Oakland. The hotel in itself was great and customer service was excellent.”

• The front desk personnel were extremely helpful.
• Our first room was a disaster. The room had not been cleaned by 5 pm.

“When we first arrived and assigned to our room which was a bay view on 15th floor. We went to room and walked in. The TV was on and the bed was unmade. This made me feel very uncomfortable. We went back downstairs and informed the front desk. The employees were wonderful. They upgraded us to the concierge floor and a bay view again on the 20th floor. Not much difference in the rooms. We did get free bottled water in that room.”

• The parking fee was exorbitant, even if I can't spell exorbitant.

“Very nice; excellent for convention travelers using the Convention Center. Too urban if you want to access other areas in the vicinity. It's near the freeway; but, Downtown traffic is congested. Parking is ridiculous and $30 per night if you park in the hotel.”
