• The parking was 16.00 a day. Extra to us WI FI cost money. To use business center cost more money.

• The suites.
• It was like a maze to get to a different side of the parking lot. I also didn't like paying for parking since we were staying there.

• The room was gorgeous and the bed was so great I didn't want to get up and it was so clean!
• There is nothing I can think of that I didn't like.

• Superb single serve coffee and coffee maker in room.
• Unexpected charge of $16 for parking on outside lot and no free parking nearby. Slow check in at midnight.

“Excellent coffee and coffee maker in room. Expensive parking in a location that should have free parking--suburban, large lots. Comfortable bed and bedding. Midnight check-in did not feel welcoming or speedy.”

• The room was excellent, clean, quiet, romantic and
  spacious.
• Extreme confusion/problems with hotel parking. Hotel should not charge for parking.

“This hotel charges it's guests to park their car, and there is extreme confusion & problems concerning this matter. It is for this reason, and only that reason, that I will not be staying at this hotel ever again.”

• Hotel was beautiful and the staff was really awesome when it came to accommodating my disabilities.
  
• Power was out for approximately five hours on Saturday.
  

“Of all of the hotels that I stayed at during the entire trip, this hotel was definitely the best one and had the best staff and was the most accommodating to my disability. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would recommend it anyone staying in the area. It is a beautiful hotel with really nice amenities and I would gladly stay there again.

• Nice large rooms.
• Parking charge $14.

“Overall the rooms were very roomy and clean. The staffs at the front desk were very professional. The only complaint was that the hotel charged for parking $14 per day. The hotel is not located in downtown S.F. or a dense area. San Mateo is a suburb type city with plenty of space and parking but they still stuck us for the bill.”

• The huge bathroom was heavenly with separate tub and shower (without a curtain). Comfy beds were heavenly, too.
• Hated paying $14/night for parking. It's just San Mateo - not La Jolla!

“Huge hotel with several wings to get lost in if you make a wrong turn. Parking charge was too high. The view was of the parking lot below and side of one of the other hotel wings. However, the bed was exceptionally comfy and the huge bathroom was great. It was so refreshing to have a separate (glass) shower without having to fight the clinging shower curtain - as well as having a separate tub to soak in. Also, it was a bonus to have the cool Keurig coffee machine to make great tasting coffee!”

“The parking is either valet or self park and self park will cost you $14/per day and they have a huge parking area, not cool! Secondly, the hotel says location is San Mateo/SFO Airport which for travelers means it would most likely have a shuttle service to/from SFO.”

• The staff was courteous and nice.
• They put a huge drunken party right next to my room.

“My first night there (I stayed with my brother), the clock alarm went on at about 6:00 AM next door for over 10 minutes, finally I called the front desk and they turned it off. My second night - the night of August 31, there was a huge party next door to my room. At 2:15 three guys sat down on the ground outside my door talking about how drunk they were - I had to go outside and ask them to be quiet- then for the next few hours I heard loud music and drunk people and the door next door opening and closing as party guests came and left. So much for a good nights rest.”

• They put a $100.00 charge on my credit card and then told me that it would take three days to remove.

“Nice hotel, great location, but the staff could have been friendlier. Put a $100.00 charge on my credit card when I did not have any charges, and then said it would take three days for them to remove the charge. The ice machine on my floor was broken. Broken shower head in bathroom. No assistance offered with my luggage. Very noisy neighbors, not very soundproof. No paper in the morning. Definitely my least favorite hotel stay in the past year.”

“I don't think it should be 4 stars. We could hear our neighbors all night and finally had to call security at midnight. In the morning they got up early and also woke us up. They were not yelling or being loud; it was just that we could hear everything that was going on next door. The staff was excellent.”

• The third night, I had a different room, and the coffee maker was missing. The maid should double check.

• The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating.
• The first room was smelled horrible. Tub was rusted.

“If it were not for the wonderful staff I probably would have left the hotel. The first room smelled as if something had recently died in it. The staff was very nice and switched me to a room that was nicer and did not smell. The rooms were outdated but the decor helped fix it up. I will more than likely not stay this Marriot ever again. I love Marriot but, this one does not compare to the quality Marriot is normally known for.”

“Great hotel but the location is a bit out of town for San Francisco. We stayed here because the site said it was two blocks from the Cal train with direct public transit links to SF. It was! But the staff on 3 different occasions did not advise us of the stations location & suggested we needed a $28 cab ride to the Bart Station, it left me wondering if the hotel staff was receiving incentives from cab drivers. Once we were shown where the station was by a gut in the local Shell Gas Station, getting around was cheap & easy. That simple fact changed the hotel from being isolated & not ideal for us into a great place to stay at a reasonable price.”

• Having to pay to park at a suburban hotel - ridiculous!

“Very accommodating staff. Very clean room and comprehensive bathroom toiletries. Especially appreciated shower cap being supplied. Large bathroom. Can't understand why there is a charge for parking at a suburban hotel. Wish it were a bit closer to San Fran, but for the peninsula, a great location.”

“My stay was awful. The room smelled like sewage for the first 6 hours I was there, and the management staff was disrespectful and rude. I could not wait to leave and hope to never stay there again. This hotel is far from a 4 star. 2 at best.”

“I was disappointed with my stay here. There was no concierge, except for premium members. The room was nice enough and had a nice TV. The bathroom had bath and body works brand amenities, which were nice. Housekeeping was definitely sub-par. Our room was cleaned one day, but only half way. We came back to our room late at night to find the bathroom cleaned and the bed partly made. The sheets were tucked in, but the comforter and pillows were on the ground. It was as if the house keeper took lunch while cleaning our room and never came back.”

“Every member of the staff, from the maids, maintenance personnel and wait staff was perfectly polite, friendly and helpful. I was very impressed. The room and facilities were spotless and very comfortable. I will definitely return here if the opportunity arises. Thank you. • I didn't like the mattress! It was too worn and soft. It made my back hurt!

“This is our second time staying at this hotel. It is located right in the middle of the Peninsula making it great for going into San Francisco but being able to come back to a peaceful setting to rest. It was great except for the mattress - too soft!”

• A/C unit broke at 5 a.m. and woke me up with the noise.

“The only problem I had about this hotel was that they charged $14/day for parking. And then the gate was left open all weekend. The room was amazing though and the location was great. It's a very big hotel and even though it's right on 101, it was still quiet enough that I left my windows open to enjoy the 64 degree summer air!”

• They tried to fix the situation as best as possible.
• They gave us a key to our room, when we walked in there were other people already checked in the room.

“We were given a key to a room. When we entered the room we walked in on people already checked into that specific room. I waited 13 minutes for a manager to show up, he apologized and then for quite awhile he typed info into the room not saying anything to me. He then said that he apologized again and that they upgraded us as much as they could. He also said that he would waive the $15 parking fee. The room itself was wonderful, the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. When we walked up to the new room there was a food tray sitting outside of it.”
