• The service was excellent. The room was smelly with cigarette smell. But will use it often.
• Room smelled of cigarette.

• The room smelled and was right off a very busy street so the room was very loud.

• Close to good food and services.
• There was no hot water available half the time.

“You had no hot water to shower and the hot water would only be available on an intermittent basis. This was a totally unacceptable motel, hotel. In all my traveling years I can not remember a hotel without hot water available at any predictable time.”

• Close parking & decent amenities within the rooms.
• Beds & linens, cleanliness of rooms.

“Overall, this hotel probably gets a 2-star rating due to the amenities offered as well as the cont. breakfast. Also, the staff is friendly. Still, it seems in need of a remodel, the rooms aren't the cleanest & have kind of a "cheesy" feel.”

• Very comfortable bed & free continental breakfast.
• Parking was a little cramped.

“After reading several reviews about the hotel I was a little hesitant in staying here. Some of the reviews are very misleading. I would definitely stay here. The price was cheap and the beds were very comfortable. Would recommend to others. I enjoyed my stay at Howard Johnson Hotel.”

• It has lots of eating establishments nearby and a mini fridge.
• 20 words arent enough. I will cover it in the review.

“We received a smoking room, which was fine. Initially the room looked nice, but upon a few steps in I realized there was blood on the blankets and pillows. I threw them on the floor. Then I walked to the bathroom where there was spackling on the back of the door, and a huge splattering from waist high to the top of the mirror behind the bathroom door that also had blood and a mysterious white substance. The toilet paper dispenser was out, so I put the new roll on. Then I looked to the floor where there was trash. We stepped out of the room to grab dinner and I asked the front desk to have someone change the bedding because of the stains. They replaced the blanket only, not the pillows. The 'new' comforter had rips in it and was obviously quite old, with it's own stains and grossness. I accidentally dropped my keys behind the nightstand and when I pulled it out I found a lot of trash, sunflower seed shells, bottle caps etc. We turned on the TV and couldn't even see the letters on the ads because the quality was so blurry. I have never, ever, ever stayed in a hotel room that was so run down.”

• The price for the room was not fair.

“The hotel is doing renovation, which I guess a step forward, but they still are not 2 stars. It's like putting leather seat on a beat up car. Definitely not a 2 stars, I never stayed on 1 star hotel but this hotel probably should not get any star. ”

• Location.
• Old "strip" motel that was just being renovated.

“For the first time, they do not give me a decent deal. I expected much better 2 star hotel for the price I paid. I ended in an old strip motel (although have been renovated). Smelly room. I found blood stain inside the pillow. And janitor forgot to replace used towels.”

“Staff was very rude, racially bias, and did not care one way or the other that I was staying. Have never had this problem before and it is too bad that I had this problem now or at all.”

• Staff was great.
• Remember it is a definite 1 star at maximum - maybe 1/2 star.

“Nice and well run but basically a cut rate motor hotel - just stay to save money. Most business people would not say here. My meeting was in SF, so I saved maybe $150 per night which was great for me.”

• This hotel is in terrible condition.

“This hotel is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I do not recommend anyone stay at this hotel. The room had plumbing leaks, there was no water pressure, and the parking lot was torn up. TERRIBLE !!!”
