“This hotel's downtown location is excellent. It is close to all amenities and attractions. On the 12th floor there was no traffic noise. The rooms were nicely appointed, if not particularly special. Concierge and bell captain service was pleasant and helpful, although front desk service could have been more welcoming. All in all a great place to stay for an urban Seattle visit.”

• Location to Pike St. Market was excellent.
• It is on top of a hill.

“Great location to the ball park, only 14 blocks. But it is on a hill so you have to navigate up and down. Rooms were nice and clean but the bathroom is very small. Restaurant is high priced but lots of other options in the area. Very close to great shopping.”

• Noise, esp. if near elevators; no coffee shop; dirty bath tub; impersonal; located in office building.

“This hotel has a great location, some great views and can be a good value; but it is located in a former commercial skyscraper and retains an impersonal character. The most spacious rooms, with the best views, are located near the noisy elevators. Queen rooms are fairly tight. The walls are permeable, and the bath tub was not clean. There is no viable coffee shop at street level. One must walk to another hotel to catch an air porter bus.”

• We loved the location and view of Puget Sound.
• The high cost of parking and no pool.

“It was a beautiful place to stay, very convenient to all of Seattle's sites. We walked everywhere. We missed having a pool, but the view of Puget Sound made up for it.”

• The location was perfect for our trip. Clean and pleasant staff.
• The parking rate of $30 a night.

• Safe location, professional and friendly staff.
• Parking was extremely expensive.

“The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very helpful at directing us around town to the different tourist attractions and restaurants. It is in a central location close to shopping, the monorail, pikes market, and the water. Parking was very expensive ($30/night). Overall all I would recommend this hotel to others.”

• Limited menu in restaurant due to kitchen remodel, no drink machine or gift shop. Only way to get a coke is room service or 2 block walk.

“Great location. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Comfortable beds with better quality linens and lots of pillows. I'd stay here again.”

“Great location, good basic amenities, but the breakfast was very expensive for the simple continental meal and eggs. Be aware of the 30 dollars per night parking fee if you drive.”

• The decor was very modern and nice.
• The noise from the atrium area could be heard in the room.

“Liked the location, easy access to highways, downtown core and the lake. The room was generous in size and nicely decorated and good layout. The suite was well equipped and the bathroom had an excellent shower. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others.”

“Great for the price, however the not changing of towels daily unless guest pays a price is strange to me. It is not that economical, the towels & garbage I think should be changed daily included in the price.”

• No good public area to relax, lack of fine art.

“It fit all of our needs: location, quick service, nice room, fun view, and free Wi-Fi. We had no complaints--usually there are a few that come up. We didn't mind the lack of pool as they are always too chlorinated anyway. Better public areas and the addition of fine art and more plants would have improved the place, but they weren't expected.”

• Parking, I had an oversized vehicle and had to park several blocks away. No help was offered and the charge was the same as the lot.

• Treated like dirt during check-in which took forever. No public restrooms for use during check-in.

“Everyone was in need of a restroom, but all public restrooms were locked, although we were sent to them anyway. My husband is on portable oxygen & the battery unit was dead. The desk clerk failed to see this as an urgent situation. He gave us a room, where we found the toilet disassembled & lying on the floor. He changed us to a room next door that had no key.”

• Couldn't get a king-size bed.

“This hotel was an excellent value for the price. The room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. It is located close to everything you need in the downtown area - everything is within walking distance or close to mass transit. The only negative was that we couldn't get a king-size bed. I brought silicone earplugs - didn't hear a thing with them in and slept well.”

“For the most part very pleased with the location and price. The maid cleaning a plate with a bathroom towel was unsettling. The bartender in the lounge was not inviting/courteous so ended up leaving.”

• The staff were very accommodating. We requested a room on the highest floor and a later checkout and they gave us both! The location is great too!
• The rooms were not that well decorated.

“Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Red Lion. The parking fee was an additional $28, but that is somewhat typical for Seattle. They gave us a late checkout of 2 p.m. which was greatly appreciated! The room was clean. The bathroom was poorly lit.”

• 1 day didn't clean, etc room until we asked at 6 p.m. Didn't change sheets when asked. They were a bit difficult when we complained of red spot on blanket.

“I loved the location, close to everything Downtown. The parking and front desk staff were very nice and helpful. The house keeping staff were not as attentive as expected, perhaps they were understaffed but no explanation was ever expressed. I was very unhappy that we found a spots on the blanket. House keeping said there were no other blankets available. He then promptly brought another. I didn't appreciate his initial lie. It was manipulative.”

“When you enter, you are immediately welcomed by a friendly staff. The lobby is elegant yet simple. The accommodations are perfect for someone on business. The room was large enough to work, sleep and relax in. the bathroom area was large enough for two people to maneuver comfortably.”

• The concierge recommended several restaurants and gave me maps that showed me how to get there.
• No issues.

“This hotel is in the heart of the Downtown area. The front desk clerk welcomed me warmly. I was given a 20th floor room with a great city view. The room was very comfortable and clean. It included a small fridge and a coffeemaker. The hotel lobby was small but adequate. The concierge was extremely friendly and helpful with restaurant and wine store advice (I wanted to buy wine for my cruise) including menus, directions and maps. Checkout was smooth. The bell captain was happy to telephone a taxi for me.”

• Restaurant was very expensive. No place for just a quick meal.

“The hotel met all the expectations I expected. What I didn't expect and was very upset about this was that parking was not included even though I was staying at this hotel. I was charged 28.00 dollars a day for parking. You were at their mercy because there was no other parking available and you can't park on the street in down town Seattle unless you want to be towed. Parking should have been included as it has been in most other hotels I've stayed at.”

• The food at 5th Floor restaurant wasn't that great.

“I would most definitely stay at this hotel again. The location was great and the staff was friendly with 24 hour service. The toiletries were "bath & body works" which is great, and they had a list of other items that were free and available upon request.”
