• The location was perfect. We walked to Chinatown, Union Square and North Beach and took the Bart which was 2 blocks away.
• They do not have a restaurant yet but are building one.

“They do not have a swimming pool or restaurant and the hotel should be
3 stars. Boutique, location, wine hour and friendly staff and premium linens made this a very comfortable stay.”

• Relatively clean and functional, basic business services present.
• Restaurant is being renovated, so half the lobby space is covered in plastic.

“Room I was put in was in the stairwell. Not so good. Hotel was recently remodeled, but my room had paint peeling already from the ceiling. I did not eat in the hotel, since the restaurant was closed for renovation. So, I needed to go out and search for a restaurant for breakfast and dinner one night. I could have eaten in the hotel and ordered from the restaurant across the street, or just go there or somewhere else. The business center was a room with two computers and a printer. That is it. Not really a business center. The hotel felt like it was two stars below my expectations. I have stayed at Klimpton boutique hotels and similar ones that operate at a much nicer level. Not likely a place I would re-visit. Unless they are working hard on improving it. Nice staff, but something was missing. I needed a taxi and asked for some help, but the doorman wandered off somewhere, so I found my own taxi.”

“Was undergoing significant construction during my stay and was extremely loud. Problems with the plumbing in the first room - toilet backed up while I was out. Very reluctantly moved me to another room. No breakfast or lunch delivery options.”

• Rates and expensive parking charge.

“If you go to San Francisco for leisure without a car, it is a reasonable place to stay. Otherwise, find somewhere else to stay. The parking charge is very expensive (about $40 a day) and the room is no better than that in a cheap motel. The only advantage is the location.”

• Cute little hotel, with charming and personality. Old but recently renovated, hope to go back.
• Bathroom is tiny.

“Location is as good as it gets, can walk anywhere. The hotel is old but very well kept and recently renovated, so rooms and facilities are in excellent condition. Beautiful decor, comfy beds. All the comforts of a big 4 star hotel in a much more cozy, personal environment. Complimentary wine in the early evenings means you can actually meet other guests, so rare experience these days. Frette bath robes on all rooms, my only but is that the bathroom is tiny but I would love to stay there again.”

• They were able to upgrade me for a small extra fee.
• There was construction going on.

“The hotel is charming and has a lot of character. The lobby is small, but it does make for a fast exit and is convenient to get around. They serve wine in the lobby each evening which make for a nice relaxed atmosphere. The rooms were clean. The only parking is valet which is fine but, you don't know your options until you show up looking for parking.”

“This is a small boutique hotel off Sutter one block from Union Square and next to the Galleria in SF, close to everything. Clean, pretty and upscale. We would return and we live in the Bay Area and just get away locally sometimes to enjoy the city.”

• Very trendy, cozy hotel. I liked the wine tasting in the evening!
• The rooms were a bit small.

“I really liked this hotel. The location was excellent and I thought the staff was very friendly and helpful. I especially thought concierge was amazing. She helped us set up many itineraries and gave great ideas. I really felt she went over and above to make sure our stay was in SF was amazing. My boyfriend enjoyed this hotel too, but thought the rooms were too small.”

• Location is excellent, some decent amenities like Business Center.
• Bad judgment used in putting us in handicap room, my sunglasses missing from car valet.

“This place is an attempt at a boutique but falls short. We were put in a 15 by 15 foot handicapped room with a double bed, looking into air conditioning units, with no closets except handicapped bars that would not hang long clothes. The bathroom had no shower curtain whatsoever. When I called to complain and request a different room the front desk said 'there are no more rooms'. My girlfriend then angrily called back and demanded a different, more suitable room for us. They gave us an appropriate room (one they should have given us in the first place). My designer Ray Ban sunglasses were stolen out of my rental car in the overnight valet parking. This is a charming area, good decorum and decent amenities hotel, but the rooms are extremely small.”

• Incredibly firm, wonderful king size mattress. No sore back the next day.
• $39 a day to park your car at the hotel.

“$39 + taxes per day to park your car at the hotel? How do they sleep at night? Happy to say I slept great. Great firm king size mattresses. Woke up with no back pain. The rooms can be pretty small, but the remodeling looks nice. The bed was incredible, wired wireless internet. Bathroom tile needed work. Bathroom wall paint was peeling/cracked. Why? There is no bathroom fan or vent for steam/moisture to escape. Great customer service and assistance in helping us locate the best to see and do.”

“A new restaurant was under construction in the lobby. The hotel was old but recently refurbished to an acceptable level. The upgraded room was acceptable, but the bath tub wall tile was caving in. Staff was great.”

• Rooms are small, but its an older building.

“This hotel had an excellent location. Both close to attractions in the city, and the MUNI Metro and BART. The classic architecture of the building has been tastefully updated with a modern look. I felt comfortable and safe staying there. The staff was welcoming and friendly, they seemed happy to be there and happy to see the guests. I'd happily stay at the Galleria Park Hotel again.”

“This hotel was average. The entrance, service and location were all comparable with a nice 3 star hotel. The rooms and amenities all were comparable with a 2 star European hotel, with tiny rooms, smaller bathrooms and an expensive mini-bar.”

“This is an excellent hotel in a great location. Comfortable beds and great decor. The wine reception in the evening was an added surprise and special touch. Would definitely stay there again.”

• I had a child with me, so had to skip the wine reception because there was nothing for children.

“It's centrally located, 4 blocks from Union Square and just two blocks from Chinatown. The lobby is small and friendly, almost like a B&B, with a fireplace and a nightly wine reception. Rooms are small, but comfortable and there's a beautiful rooftop garden that's unusual in the middle of downtown. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I'd stay there again.”

• The location of the hotel was very convenient to public transportation and was close to many tourist attractions.
• I was not able to select the type of room I wanted without upgrading.

“The hotel is very pretty and clean. The cleaning staff actually appears to clean the room, rather than just making the bed and leaving the filth. The location is also great for tourists or business travelers. However, if you are a tourist planning on sleeping in, expect to be awoken by the cleaning staff, who like to come in very early. Also, do not expect large rooms or multiple beds. If you want two beds, it is probably best to just get 2 rooms. Also, bring your ear plugs it is very loud outside at night.”

“Great location and decor. Room was small but perfect for a couple. Lounge has beautiful and inviting fire place. Staff was attentive and valet service was priced reasonably and took the edge off parking in SF. Our room was ready prior to check in as I requested it. Check out time isn't until noon which was a real plus.”

• Was in a great location and the staff was excellent.
• Parking was traumatic and valet parking cost $35 extra.

“We have never stayed at a "boutique" hotel before but this one surpassed our expectations. Was nice without being overly so and it's very close to shopping, food, MOMA and Yerba Buena. Short taxi rides to every part of the city from this hotel. Room was nice, huge bathroom and the bed was amazing! Would definitely recommend this facility.”

• The colors were welcoming. It was very clean and comfortable.
• The rooms were very small.

“The hotel is very nice. The rooms are cute and comfortable. The only problem is that they're very small. There is no room to walk in there, only to sleep. I would say not good for a family, perfect for a couple.”

• The evening wine hour and the outdoor terrace on the third floor.
• There is no restaurant in the hotel.

“The hotel is nice. The staff is very helpful. The only down side is the restaurant that is attached to the hotel is now closed. If you wanted to grab a snack or drink on Saturday evening or Sunday you are out of luck as all the restaurants in the area are closed.”

• This hotel was cute and very well kept for a boutique hotel.
• We had an inside room and the window view was very dismal.

“The Galleria is nice boutique hotel. The room we had was very clean. While the rooms are very small, the are very cozy. The evening wine tasting was also a nice treat. The movie selection was also one of the best for the money. Since the room was small, it would not be ideal for a family stay, but perhaps they provide larger rooms. Again, boutique hotel. Would definitely stay again.”

• Old-fashioned bathroom, limited shelf space for toiletries.

“I wouldn't return. Besides the tired look of the room (despite their claim of a recent multi-million dollar renovation), I requested a quiet room not facing the street. I was placed in a "courtyard"-facing room opposite a large, noisy generator. Also despite nightstands on either side of the bed, the only phone was on the desk. Thus, it was impossible to make or receive a call -- particularly a wake-up call -- from the bed.”

• Fabulous decor, excellent location, helpful and cheerful staff, clean room, beautiful linens.
• High cost of parking.

“This is a marvelous "Boutique hotel" gem located in a beautifully restored historic building just off Union Square in the heart of San Francisco's upscale shopping district. One block from Grant Avenue (San Francisco's famous China Town) and within walking distance of Little Italy and its many restaurants, as well as close to the cable car line. This newly redecorated beauty has a 30's, Art Deco style feeling and is loaded with interesting sketches and paintings that give it panache without losing it's warmth. A great place to stay!”

“The hotel is well located for walking around San Francisco. The room was on the small side as was the bed. The bathroom was also small, especially the shower stall. In short, the Galleria Park is a good enough place to sleep in a convenient location.”

• Reasonable price.
• Facility and neighborhood are a little run down.

“Convenient to convention center within 6 blocks walking, reasonably priced, but beyond its glory days. There seems to be a lot of deferred maintenance to the facility. The staff is reasonably friendly. The neighborhood itself is a block or two off the beaten track. You need to keep your eyes open and walk like you know where you're going late at night.”

• They charged me for calling an 800 number (my calling card).

“I was very disappointed when I checked out, because they handed a $16 bill for using the telephone. I used my calling card to make several calls. $16 is about half of my monthly telephone bill.”
