• Great location and very friendly and helpful staff.
• Small rooms and pricey parking fees.

“Recently stayed there while traveling with my daughter. The room we had only had one queen sized bed which obviously wasn't going to work and the room was too small to allow the use of a roll away bed. I was switched to a room with a king sized bed which also had room for a roll away bed. All the staff were very helpful with this situation. The hotel is in a great location. A couple of blocks to Union Square and right across the street from Chinatown. There is a sidewalk cafe next door and a Starbucks right across the street. Most of the tourist attractions are about a $10.00 cab away. Took the cable car once, it was a bad idea. $5.00 each and packed it like Sardines. If the parking fees could be reduced it would be a good thing. $38.00 a night and $5.00 tax on top of that is a little steep. All in all, we had a really good time on our trip and really enjoyed staying at the Triton. All the staff that we encountered were very friendly and eager to help. Would stay again. Thanks!”

“They gave me a bad room at dark corner although I checked in at 2-3 pm early. The room is too small and there is no complimentary breakfast but from the hotel brochure, there should be. A bad stay at Triton.”

• Double room small for four (2 adults, 2 kids) but understandable for big city.

“Hotel is fun and friendly. Great location at Chinatown entrance. Room was a little tight, but this may be normal for downtown San Francisco. Traveled with my husband and 18-month old son. They were willing to warm his bottles in the AM and before bedtime. A couple times I had to make a second call as they did not come after the first, but in general they were helpful in providing this service. I tipped and they always seemed happy to help.”

“I absolutely loved this hotel. It is located at the Chinatown gate, which is a great central location in SF. The decor is funky and modern, but not tacky whatsoever. My king room was spacious enough and well-furnished. The staff was extremely friendly, and there is a complimentary wine hour between 5-6 pm every evening. What a gem!”

• The room decor was wonderful and the view was stunning.
• Hardly any amenities.

“This hotel is super upscale but I never felt out of place. The lobby is loud at night due to the bar, a city hotspot, but I was on the 10th floor and slept peacefully every night. Luxurious!”

• The room was large, the bed was very large and comfortable, the view was great.
• The restaurants and room service were terribly overpriced for just average food.

“The rooms are huge and the view I had was great. The bed was nice and comfortable and the bathroom/dressing area was a nice size. The restaurant was just mediocre and it was overpriced. I would stay here again but I wouldn't eat here.”

• Great location for shopping! The staff was excellent, and should be praised. They very helpful, polite, funny, and had great service attitude.
• It was just a little bit small, but it wasn't a problem.

“Hotel Triton is a fabulous place to stay on business or leisure. It is right next to the gates of Chinatown, and is walking distance to the great mall, restaurants, bars, shops, coffee shops, and of course Chinatown. If you are looking for a weekend of shopping or a place to stay that is affordable and in the city, this hotel is perfect for you. Valet service was on it, cabs are in abundance, the staff is excellent, and the rooms are unique and easily accessible. We highly recommend it.”

• What's there not to like?

“Right away I knew I'd love this hotel zany, colorful lobby, friendly staff, interesting artwork even in the room, blown glass light fixtures every detail seemed to have a whimsical touch. Great location gateway to Chinatown but just a block or two from Union Square.”

• The staff was very helpful and welcoming.
• The carpet in the hallways looked out of date.

“I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Triton. I would stay there again and have even recommended the hotel to my parents. The staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms were cozy and just right for two people. The location was great, just outside of Chinatown and a couple blocks away from shopping. All in all my stay was a wonderful experience.”

• The rooms we both stayed in were comfortable but not the ones we thought. It was much smaller!

• The rooms they gave us both needed to be painted and one had holes in walls patched up.

“The Hotel Triton is just outside of the China Town entrance in San Francisco. It is centrally located, but it is not a great stay! The first room we got had holes in the wall and it needed a paint job to cover up the marks and dirty hand prints on it. The second room we got was better, although it was the eco friendly room, and also needed some paint touch up on the wall. It has yellow paint and was stressful to sleep in.”

• There wasn't one thing I did not like. Great hotel.

“Hotel Triton exceeded our expectations. From the moment we entered the lobby, through the minute we checked out. The hotel was very clean. The decor was fun, but not too funky. The room was very comfortable, with everything one would need. The bed was heavenly. Coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon. What else could you ask for. Oh, and the wonderful staff - always there to answer questions, or attend to a need. This is a keeper!”

• The staff was outstanding, especially the front desk/ concierge.
• It was pet friendly. You could tell immediately and allergies kicked right in.

“Overall the rooms were pretty clean, but small. The service was excellent. The hotel seemed a little worn down, but unique. It was a pet friendly hotel and being allergic to all cats and long haired dogs I could not stand in the lobby without feeling as if my throat would close up. We stayed on the "no pet, allergy free floor" but the hotel has a certain weird smell to it, I think because of the pets allowed. It is in a good location.”

• Even though it's in the heart of the action, the rooms are very quiet.
• No shelving in the bathroom for toiletries.

“The hotel is very trendy, upscale furnishings and a far cry from the drab hotel rooms of most of the standard chains. Lovely amenities and extras like the iPod docking station, the office chair. Aveda bath products and the bed linens.”

• Location and decor. Very cute-bright-uplifting.
• Price to park car was $45+ per night.

“I would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect for walking to Union Square, Chinatown, and Market St. The Decor is bright and cheery. Very people friendly and for a "pets allowed" hotel. Very clean. No odor of pets noticeable.”

• It was very cool, maybe too cool for me!
• 2 double beds were not great, I prefer a queen or larger.

“Very hip but a little too pricey for the small room with small beds. The bathroom was teensy, it was a good thing that the sink was in the entry way. Location was great.”

• Very loud room due to air conditioner in window.

“The hotel was in a great location and had a very nice Boutique Lobby with a wine tasting hour. The rooms are small, but nice and the workout facility was topnotch. The only detraction was that because there was an air conditioner in the window, it seemed as if the sound on the street was in my room. Also, someone set off the fire alarm at 6AM necessitating a complete evacuation due to the false alarm. How about some better signage so the patrons don't open the wrong door?”

• I liked how a standard room was transformed into something really cool!
• The ventilation could have been a little better.

• I really liked the decor it was fun and different.
• Valet parking took us over 2 hours to get car.

“The hotel was very nice I loved the different decor. Our stay was very nice, however, we did have problem with valet parking when we left the room. We waited over an hour and then we ended up getting our car ourselves. The hotel was very apologetic and credited our room for the parking. I would stay there again when we are in San Francisco.”

• Evening happy hour from 6 7pm, free wifi & all non smoking.
• Bathroom on 7th floor room was much smaller than I had expected.

“This is a very funky hotel in the heart of San Francisco. I have stayed here many times before and have always enjoyed myself and the staff has always been friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel rooms are always clean and the beds are very comfortable. I stayed on the 7th floor this trip and I think the room was much smaller than the ones I have stayed in before, so if you can try to get a room on one of the lower floors. The hotel is a quick walk to many attractions including union square and has some of the coolest shops, bars and restaurants as its closest neighbors. The fact that the hotel is all non smoking is a huge plus! Overall I would recommend this hotel to everyone!”

• The decor was funky cool. Some may not like it, But I did. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
• Small rooms. It's not a new hotel. A little old timely.

• Bathroom was cramped and the pillows were mushy.

“Excellent location just steps from Chinatown and union square and close to public transportation. Excellent staff. Hotel lacks its own bar and restaurant but connects to a French cafe.”

• I liked the complimentary light-up rubber duck that came in our room.
• The room was very small, and the "eclectic" decor was reminiscent of garage-sale finds.

“It was difficult to be comfortable in a room with such loud decor and eclectic interior design. It seemed as if nothing matched anything. That all fixtures and materials used in the design of the hotel were randomly compiled and used as they were found. However, the beds were very comfy.”

• Great location, interestingly furnished rooms, evening cookies was a big hit as well as morning tea and coffee.
• Was not well set up for kids; me, hubby and kid all needed to sleep in a king size bed, no room for cot.

“Overall my family and I (2 adults, one child) enjoyed this hotel. My complaints were: not enough cable TV channels, we don't have cable at home and love to watch hot when we go out but this was not available. The kid loved the 24 hour cartoon channels however. Also we all had to pile into the king size bed as there was no room for a cot, we didn't want to purchase another room just for our child. That was fairly uncomfortable. There may have been another solution to this but we didn't pursue it ahead of time. One small cleanliness issue: the air conditioner motor casing outside the window was covered in lots of bird poop making it unsightly to look out that window, but this was a minor issue. Our family enjoyed our stay overall (with the exception of having to sleep in one bed).”

• The eclectic design throughout the hotel is definitely a must see.
• Some of the paint in the bathroom was peeling.

“Sitting right outside of the san Francisco Chinatown gate, the hotel triton is full of eclectic designs and friendly staff. Over the course of the day, there are a number of services provided to guests, including a morning coffee and tea bar, an afternoon wine tasting hour, and fresh apples and cookies throughout the day.”

• The rooms are clean and funky, and the service was fantastic.
• Nothing!

“This hotel meets all my expectation, I was celebrating my wedding anniversary and to my surprise, not only did they upgrade me to a corner room. That was a bunch of pleasant surprises waiting for us when we arrived! The service staff were very profession they work with subtle efficiency and can be rank up there with the best of the industry putting some staff of Bigger 5 Star hotel to shame! Thanks for a pleasant memory guys!”
