• Loved the location. Right next to Union Square.
• The service was not good at all. Took over 4 hours to bring our mattress pad to our room.

“Loved the area of the hotel, and the fact that it was centrally located. Did not like the service we received. We asked room service for a spoon and a fork for our meal at 9:00 PM and they never delivered it to our room. My wife and I fell asleep and I called back the next morning to complain and then they finally sent the utensils up to us. Bed was extremely firm and my wife woke up with a serious back ache. We called at 2:00 PM for a mattress foam pad, but it didn't come until 6:00 PM. Each time I called guest services I felt like they really didn't care about my request's or concerns. What a shame for such a nice location in downtown San Francisco.”

• At check in, staff immediately suggested upgrades, to the price of $50/night, without mentioning price. Luckily we overheard prior customer haggling.

• Too much for group travel, dull lobby. Lots of trays in halls.

• The location and the restaurant.
• When we checked in I asked if we could possibly have a room with a view & the clerk said not at the price we paid.

“The bellman was very helpful, he asked us if we received our certifies for discounts at the restaurant and shopping, we said no, they were never given to us, he said no problem, just go back and ask for them, which we did and we found them very useful. I guess the girl who checked us in decided that since we did not deserve a view, we also did not deserve the coupons. Other than that, our stay was very enjoyable. We ended up with a view anyway, because the first room we were given was next to the elevator and maids closest and I called down to request that we be moved to a more quiet area.”

• Cost of valet parking.

“I had an excellent experience with this hotel. The location was very central in Union Square and made it easy to get to trains, trams, etc. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The lobby and seating areas were very clean and comfortable. The only drawback was the cost of valet parking. There was no other place to leave the car so I didn't have much of a choice. Definitely would return there.”

• The toilet indeed needs some work.

“Overall it's a pretty good staying experience. The location is perfect and the bed is soft and comfortable. Plus, the TV check out is actually working unlike a lot of others. Only thing that bothered was the water pressure and the toilet, kind of tricky.”

• Parking was $41 per night.

“Nice hotel in heart of downtown San Francisco near the Transamerica pyramid. Hotel had nice decor. Staff was friendly. Room was nice. Extra TV in the bathroom was a nice touch. Great bar on top floor with views of San Francisco.”

“The location of this hotel was great. It is located literally steps from Levis and Niketown on Union Square. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedding in the rooms are bit outdated, pillows, blankets, and comforter are rough. However, we still feel we got a great deal.”

• The location was excellent, very central.

“The restaurant at the top of the hotel serves the worst breakfast. The corn beef hash was out of a can and the specialty breakfast consisted of 2 poached eggs drawing in canned tomatoes & soggy spinach. All of this cost $50 for 2 people.”

• Great location and great rooms for a great price.
• There is an extra charge for staying in rooms on higher floors. Most other 4 star hotels that I've booked through priceline don't!

• Best customer service Iv experienced in quite some time. Great location.
• It's a corner hotel so valet parking is is risking. It's on one way street which mean you have to circle a few times.

“Great location, but what makes this hotel so great are its staff members. From the valet to the bell hop to the bartender and waitstaff. Everyone was extemely knowledgable about the city and its sights and very friendly. Having stayed at several 4-star hotels, I would rate this particular hotel as the most customer friendly and a I would recommend this particular Hyatt to any family and frieds. Fourt star hotels are a dime a dozen in today's business climate and any hotel that cannt take care of its customer seriously will not get repeat business. This hotel will never have to worry about its repeat customers. They know how to take care of their business.”

• Convenient, clean, contemporary and safe, the Starbucks coffee station is a great addition
• The shower was disgusting, switching from very hot to cold continually, and they didn't have the bowed shower curtain rod, so the interior seemed tiny

“It has everything the person who asks for a four star hotel could want, but they simply must remedy the shower situation!”

“The Grand Hyatt Union square was excellent overall. My room was clean and spacious. Houskeeping stayed on top of everything. Service was prompt and the staff was courteous. The hotel was close to shops and restaurants. Very convenient. I had a great stay.”

• Hotel charges for coffee in the room and also internet service where smaller hotels include IP service in room charge.

“Stay, overall, was a good experience. I recommed the hotel NOT charge for room coffee and provide FREE IP access as does HI Express, Courtyards, and less expensive hotels.”

“The hotel is very centrally located.easy shopping and only two blocks from China Town.The staff was friendly and seemed to know what you wanted in advance.arriving by cab is somewhat of a problem,as you must get out of the cab on the street as there is no circular drive.”

• No pool, parking cost as much as a tank of gas.

“Valet parking at nearly $50 a night is obnoxious. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is located in the heart of the shopping district and within a short cab ride to many attractions including SBC park which was our destination.”

• The staff was great, the hotel was beautiful and the location was perfect.

“I have stayed in San Francisco several times, and this was without question the best hotel I have stayed in there. It was right by all the shopping and a short walk to take the cable car to the Wharf. The room was decorated very nicely and also clean. The hotel staff was amazing as well.”

• This hotel was ideally located. The staff were very helpful and courteous.

“This hotel was definitely a four star. We were offered an upgrade when we checked in, but we chose not to take it. The staff was pleasant and friendly. They didn't have a room with two beds as we requested, so they brought in a rollaway for our son. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay immensely.”

• This hotel is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco and all the municipal transportation services are near by.
• You should not have to pay $1.00 to make local calls.

“The wait staff at the Grand Views restaurant was unacceptably slow and unprofessional on both occasions we dined there. The beds were extremely uncomfortable (I've stayed at the Omni USE, Hilton USW, and Marriot USE - by far, Grand Hyatt USE's beds are a giant step below all of them), leaving me with a sore back every morning.”

• Dirty rooms. Hard beds. Dirty hallways. Even the elevators were dirty.

“The rooms were disgusting.in the restroom there was urine on the toilet rim and hair in the tub and on the floor. The room itself was dusty and the carpet did not look vaccumed. ”

“Lovely entrance, helpful staff, especially the concierge. Room was rather small and expected more comfortable beds/bedding from a 4 star rating. Room felt more like a 2 star. And really missed there was no pool/jacuzzi at hotel. We had a great time in San Francisco and the hotel location was convenient to everything!”

“The Grand Hyatt in downtown San Francisco is a wonderful luxury hotel. If you are fortunate enough to be placed in one of the upper floors, as we were on the east side of the building on the 20th floor, you will be treated to a wonderful view of the city and of the city waking up as the sun rises.”
