• Excellent, prompt service. Friendly staff. Exceptionally comfortable beds. Great high speed elevators.
• Smaller than expected room. Toilet was plumbing in poor condition. No pool. Very expensive valet parking.

“This Hyatt Is beautiful, with a very friendly and courteous staff. The rooftop restaurant is breathtaking. The rooms are clean and inviting, although a bit small for a 4 star hotel. The room I stayed in had plumbing issues in the bathroom. The elevators are super fast and efficient. The beds are out of this world in comfort and support. When we checked in, we had perishable food with us, so I called down for a mini fridge and it arrived in two minutes flat. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed about was that this hotel has no pool, however, they did offer us a free key to their sister site about 2 miles down the road so that we can use the pool there. The hotels location is excellent. When we needed information about sightseeing and the bay area tours. The girl at the information desk was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Since street parking in that area is scarce, we had no choice but to shell out a whopping $49 a night for the valet parking they offer. Since we stayed for two nights, we paid 100 bucks for parking.”

• Loved the location, hotel room was very nice.
• No hot water in shower. Only complaint. Took cold showers for 4 days.

“Wonderful location! Just a mere steps away from Union Square and shopping. The staff and hotel amenities were on par for a 4 star hotel. The only complaint was that the water in the shower never heated up! Was there for 4 days and had to take quick 2 minute showers daily because the water was just too cold. Other than that, everything else met expectations.”

“I liked the hotel. It was in the heart of San Francisco. The staff judged us on our appearance/clothes when we first arrived and put us a room that was only to be for staff if they had to stay over night. I complained the next morning and received an apology and a better room with a view. Many staff members were very judgmental. There were problems with the bill.”

• Traffic noise in the room was awful!

“The hotel was fine, but my trip was ruined due to the traffic noise below. We were on the third floor and I had a horrible night sleep due to the traffic noise. I don't think the windows were soundproof at all. I had a pounding headache the whole night and got little sleep.”

• Bedding was very comfortable.
• Staff was very inattentive and sometimes rude; room service food arrived cold and tasteless.

“The room was nice, clean and comfy. The staff was unbelievably uninterested and, sometimes, rude. When I asked an attendant if the bellman could get me a taxi, he told me that it wouldn't be any quicker if I went out and hailed one myself. FOUR-STAR HOTEL! The room service attendant on the phone was nasty as well, and when he tired of my litany of questions (3) told me that he wasn't going to stay on the line while I made up my mind. So I chose the nachos. And they were disgusting. Also, after roaming around in circles, obviously lost, on the first floor for several minutes in front of a couple of attendants, I stopped to ask one where the ATM machine was. He paused. And pointed. POINTED. Didn't open his mouth. In short, I won't be returning. 2 stars only because the bathroom was so nice and the beds were quite comfortable, but with that type of staff, I'd prefer less comfort.”

• The location was great. Very close to the cable cars.
• Parking was 50.00 per night. It was really hard to drive to (due to SF traffic, etc).

“I really liked it, but was placed next-door to a crying baby for a night and it ruined our sleep. Other than that it was nice. I didn't expect the 50.00 per night parking fee.”

• AC got colder than the thermostat was set at.

“The Grand Hyatt at Union Square is a great hotel near all the shops and restaurants. It is a couple of blocks from the cable cars and 2 blocks from BART and the underground MUNI (Powell Street Stop) to get farther out into the city.”

“Excellent hotel in a great location, near shopping and within walking distance of Chinatown. Guests with cars might consider parking in a nearby parking garage to save money (we parked near Banana Republic for $32/day). Room was very comfortable (although they charged for internet access).”

• Great public transportation access to where I need to go.
• Changed rooms do to high winds causing noise in walls of room.

“Hotel well situated on Union Square, without the cable car noise. Valet parking will cost a pretty penny - we parked at the garage across the street for about 1/4 the price. Desk service very nice, quick - because they had availability, they were able to give me a 2-bed room and move me up a few floors without charging me a fee (which I've encountered at other hotels). Overall, we were pleased and would stay there again!”

“This is a nice hotel located in the heart of Union Square. Conveniently close to a Walgreen's, a Boudins, public transportation and a cheap parking structure. The rooms are great and the staff is the nicest ever! Be sure to tap into the concierge for any sight seeing questions you have. The view from the top floor lounge is amazing!”

• Definitely the staff. The Staff were extremely unfriendly.

“The Staff of the Hotel is awful. The Reception Staff is very spoiled and treat you terribly. I stood in line to check out for 15 minutes because the whole reception staff was running circles around a random guest who arrived to the hotel with a limousine. There certainly is a discrimination for guests which makes this hotel the worst stay in Downtown SF.”

• Location, location, location. Nice room, some good views.
• Everything has its price and at the Grand Hyatt the everything's price is high.

“The Grand Hyatt Regency is located amidst the finest shopping this world class city (SF) offers. This along with everything else at this 3 star upscale (my own personal downgrade) comes at a cost. Parking is near impossible without a service or valets and doesnt touch anything in the mini-bar that you don't want to get adjusted off the bill. All told a fun experience in a sharp-looking room.”

“The hotel rooms themselves were older and darkly decorated but considering the terrific location, one wouldn't be spending much time in the room! Additionally, the views were incredible and the work out room was also located near a top floor, so one could enjoy it while exercising as well! The hotel could probably update the rooms a bit, but the service was wonderful and we had an incredible time!”

“The hotel was nice, and located in a great spot. However, I expect more for a four star hotel. I feel like I got a left-over room. I was on the 3rd floor of 36, and corner room with no view at all. It was dark and I was very disappointed.”

• The $54.00 Valet parking which was not an option.

“There is no parking at this hotel. At least it had in and out privileges. Getting any bed besides a double is an upgrade with fees attached, as are "better view's" upper floors).”

“For a vacation in San Francisco, you couldn't ask for a much better hotel than the Grand Hyatt on near Union Square. It's in a great location, central to almost everything you'll want to do, and it's a lovely, well maintained hotel. During my visit I was on a pretty low floor and I got a room with two beds instead of the one king bed I would have preferred, but these are really minor quibbles, especially given the excellent price I got for my room.”

• It would be nice if the hotel offered a shuttle to SFO airport.

“I was very pleased with both the location and quality of the hotel. I booked the room last minute and got a great rate on a terrific room. Definitely recommend heading up to the Grandview Lounge on the 36th floor. The view is amazing and it was never crowded.”

• Nothing, I was very disappointed in my stay.
• The room was not equal to what a 4 star hotel should be.

“The hotel might as well have been a 2 star. Staff was not helpful. Fire alarm went off randomly in the room and we did not have hot water for more than 3 minutes at a time. I hope we never get this hotel again.”

• Valet parking was $47.50 a night.

“The hotel was nice, clean, and gave you a great luxury feeling. There were no restaurants in the lobby but there are plenty of fines dining being one block from union square. The one downside was the valet parking, $47.50 a night.”

• Location, 36th floor bar.
• $41 tax nightly parking.

“Great hotel, except lousy housekeeping. Coffee mugs had lipstick from a prior guest and were never changed after complaints were raised. Ridiculous and predatory parking prices almost half of the nightly rate had the unforeseen effect of making me excercise, as I parked a few blocks away for less than half the price.Also, i was charged for using the minibar, when I only opened it to see what was in it. Sensors inside it are too sensitive, probably on purpose, and go off even when you retrieve the complimentary coffee filters. The hotel is probably counting on some guests never seeing those charges in their bill and getting charged anyway.”

• Room service is absolutely wonderful.
• Rate hiked to $139 per night.

“This is a newly renovated property. Each room has been outfitted with the Sweet Deams bedding package. It really does make a difference. Both room service and Amelia's Resturant offer a variety of well prepared dishes. You can enjoy a relaxing 3 star hotel experience including indoor & outdoor pool, spa, sauna, and minimally equiped workout facility.”
