• The room was very clean, modern, and had more space than most san Francisco hotels.
• Parking was too expensive.

“I had a very enjoyable experience at Hotel 480. The staff was helpful, the price was good and the rooms were beautiful and the hotel location was perfect for why I was there. I definitely recommend Hotel 480!”

• The location was superb! Right in the center of downtown with shopping, eating, etc! Excellent!
• Construction being done in front (boarded up)! Was a let down.

“Hotel 480 was quite for the price! It was conveniently and centrally located by Union Square! We were able to jump on the trolley, hail a cab easily and walk to many main downtown attractions. I was disappointed because the hotel was going through reconstruction and was boarded up in front. But the doormen were superb and friendly, the bell hop was personality plus and our room was clean, attractive and the view from the 19th floor was great! One complaint, the shower didn't flow at full strength but with a wedged in washcloth on the stopper we made do. There's not a lot of amenities (fitness center closed, only one restaurant open). But we were so close to everything it didn't matter. My family and I enjoyed our stay and that's what counts. Would I stay here again?”

“I really liked the hotel room. We were upgraded to a suite because our room was not ready. The parking was expensive. We ended up paying over hundred dollars for two cars for one night. The staff was not welcoming. The decor of the room was old. It was an overall ok experience. If you are staying at this hotel for Pier 39, I would stay closer. It's a long way to the beach up and down hills.”

• Right on Powell St. where the cable cars run and only one block fro0m Union Square.
• Construction and very dirty windows.

“Near all the action of Market St. and Union Square. Catch the cable car from the corner to take you to the Wharf, walk to China Town, or spend time shopping in Union Square and Market St. Some construction was taking place, but there is so much to do that there was no need to stay in the hotel during the day. Construction ceases in the evening. Room was very clean; everything seemed brand new except for the windows were very dirty which took away from the view.”

“The Hotel 480 is in a great location, about 2 blocks from Union Square and 4 -5 blocks from Chinatown. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side. There was some type of renovation going on. The noise from the construction was very loud in the lobby. I did not explore any of the public areas, due to the noise. It was quiet in our room on the 17th floor. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

• I was in a new room, very clean.
• The fire alarm went off at 8:30am. It was a false alarm.

“Everything was nice. The room was very neat and clean, but the staff was not very friendly and two of us in the room were awakened at 8:30am by a false fire alarm and had to evacuate, one of us was in the shower so that experience was very unpleasant. Our parking was comped so I guess that was ok. Other than that, our stay was ok.”

“We had 5 people in our party and the room only had 1 king bed. Hotel was sold out. We asked for a bigger room and offered to pay for an upgrade. The hotel manager gave us the presidential suite at no charge. Outstanding customer service in my book.”

“This is a good place to stay if you are in San Francisco stopping over for business or a travel layover. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations so it is a bit noisy in the mornings. Location of the hotel is central and close to many downtown San Francisco landmarks and shopping.”

• The room and bathrooms are extremely clean. The overall room condition was soothing.
• I was on the 5th floor facing the street and you can hear the noise and clamor from the street, disturbing my sleep.

“I am very picky with the cleanliness for rooms. I was very pleased with the room. It was very clean and soothing. Because of this, I would stay in this hotel again and would put up with the noise and clamor on the streets that woke me up from sleep several times.”

• Located in the heart of the business and shopping district.
• Little in the way of additional facilities.

“This hotel is located in the heart of the Business and Shopping District and a few blocks from Chinatown. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel has little to nothing in the way of additional facilities (gym is supposed to open in the fall of 08). Internet was an extra $10 per day (for me at least). If you want to get to the waterfront then you will have to pay for transportation or be an energetic walker.”

• We had a beautiful newly refurbished room.
• Fire alarm went off on our floor and the front desk didn't even know.

“I liked everything about the hotel except the front desk staff. When I brought the alarm and evacuation (6th floor on Wednesday) to their attention they blew me off and act like it was no big deal.”

• The staff was wonderful.
• Bathrooms had no counter space and beds weren't queens, they were doubles.

“This hotel was ok. The greatest thing about it was the staff. Anytime we needed anything even up to our 26th floor room, we had it within minutes. The doormen were great too. Very helpful and friendly. Parking was ridiculous at 47 dollars a night. We parked down the street for a lot less. The reason I rated it less than a three is because of the smaller beds-they were both double beds, which for our family was too small. We need queens. The bathroom had a pedestal sink and no counter space which was a pain with kids. There was a shelf above the sink, but things kept falling off of it. The location was great-4 blocks from a great mall and lots of restaurants.”

• I liked the location of the hotel to shops and transportation lines.
• Renovations would not allow us to be on a lower floor, which was our preference.

“Staying at Hotel 480 was a very good experience. The hotel is conveniently located near Union Square, shops, bus and trolley lines. The hotel was clean and the staff was very polite and helpful.”

• Bar/restaurants not so great, but there is much to choose from outside the hotel.

“Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff members who quickly saw to our needs, checked our bags, parked our car and asked if there was anything else they could help us with. The level of service and comfort speaks volumes for the hotel 480.”

“The hotel was great. The main problems were the price of parking at $56 and the price of the food was outrageous. So we parked in a garage 2 blocks away for $30 and ate at a 50's diner across the street for a lot less money.”

“The overall appearance and stay at the hotel was fine. The staff was very helpful. I wish that I had known that it cost $50.00 a day to park. I did not factor that into my vacation budget. Therefore, we had to give up other attractions.”

• Contemporary well designed interior. Comfortable, clean and great location. Excellent views of city.
• Parking at hotel was $45 a 24 hour period, we felt mislead.

“Room interior and lobby were decorated in contemporary, sophisticated and comfortable atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised by the amazing views of the city from our room. There was ample generous space in room which also was an unexpected bonus. Friendly staff and quality linens and furnishings. Convenient location perfectly situated in safe neighborhood close to shopping and sightseeing. Easily accessible by all freeways and public transportation. I highly recommend, this hotel stands out among the many places we have stayed in this very area. Just be prepared for expensive parking, which is relative to neighborhood.”

“For the price, right in the Union Square -- one of the best locations in my opinion -- the value we received was amazing. We didn't spend much time in the room, but if I was traveling for business, having to pay for internet would irritate me. Otherwise a very nice place, a few Starbucks across the street and 24-hour Walgreens made it a good experience.”

“All staffs are very friendly and very helpful. Don't hesitate to ask any of staffs all of them are willing to answer your questions. I was so impress with the hotel staff. The hotel's location is excellent. Just a couple blocks from Union square, 5 mins walk to cable car turn around and visitor center. 10 mins walk to Chinatown gate. Very convenience to most of Sanfrancisco attractions.”

• Room was exactly as described. Staff was really wonderful, helpful, & knowledgeable.
• Everything was great. Coffee service in the to go shop was a bit slow but reasonable.

“The hotel is in the middle of everything! It is very accessible - cable carline, walking distance to Union Sq, Bart, great restaurants - but it isn't noisy and has a very personal feel. The staff always greeted us warmly. Room was very clean. Would stay again for sure!”

• I called ahead of time for room considerations and the staff was accommodating.
• Parking was way too much.

“This hotel was GREAT! I thought that since it was going through renovations, that I would be smack dab in the middle of it. This was not the case. The staff was excellent. I had a clogged bathroom sink, but I was able to get around it. No biggie. Otherwise, I was very pleased with the accommodations!”

• It was close to the area I wanted to be near.
• Room was not that nice and there was no mention of additional parking charges.

“Room had popcorn ceilings, worn mattresses, and an additional parking charge in excess of $55.00 per night of stay, that was not mentioned while check in. Savings was absorbed by the additional parking charges.”

• Fabulous location, very friendly staff, spotless bedroom and excellent view from bedroom of the bay.
• While the room was spotless, the decor was a bit tired. Also bar is not very inviting.

“This hotel is in a fabulous location just one block from Union square and literally 10 steps from a cable car stop to Fisherman's Wharf with a fabulous corner suite with fantastic views of the bay and downtown San Francisco. Room was spotless, employees were really friendly (especially receptionist who made a restaurant booking for us as concierge wasn't in yet). Cannot recommend hotel enough for its location and employees and cleanliness. The only potentially negative thing was the decor in the bedroom, it was very tired, but it absolutely did not hamper our enjoyment and I have recommended the hotel to everyone since we came home.”

• The decor needs updating. Complimentary Wi-Fi should be standard.

“This was a good hotel because of it's prime location. Located in the heart of Union Square, we are minutes away from hotel galore and restaurants. Little Italy and Chinatown are within walking distance. Excellent experience and I highly recommend this hotel to all my family and friends.”

• The views of San Francisco were unexpectedly nice.
• The hallway lighting and carpeting, as well as hotel decor overall, were slightly dated.

“This hotel was great for the price, it's huge so they likely have rooms available often. Nice bedding, very clean, not special or boutique-y at all but good in a standard kind of way. Would definitely return.”

“Helpful, friendly staff. Great, clean room. In a nice area. Great view from the 25th floor. Unreasonably priced parking. Internet was available at exorbitant prices. Felt like I was getting nickel and dimmed for every little thing in the hotel. Found a parking garage about the same distance from the hotel for less than half of the hotel's rate.”

• Reception counter staff was not warm and inviting. Barely smiled when greeting people.
