• Staff very accommodating & helpful.
• I wish someone had called me to say that the hotel had changed.

“Hotel Carlton: Staff was great and very friendly. Location was perfect for me & all my errands. Room was clean. Could not get the internet to work but it was fine. Parking was a little confusing but overall good experience and great for the price.”

• The staff was great. Adding parking was convenient but pricey.
• The location was on the border of a neighborhood with many homeless, troubled people. It was also very noisy, in part due to nearby construction.

“We added one more night and that price was excessive. Theme of old movies gave it a nice atmosphere, but when we added another bed to a room for my grown daughter to join us, the room was claustrophobic.”

• One staff member was very nice. The morning coffee and bagel was good.
• My reservation was for a queen bed and I got two twin beds on my wedding night. No parking available.

“My reservation was for a queen bed and I was given a choice of two rooms with twin beds. Bad location, bad service. There was no parking. I had to pay over $30 for parking.”

• Staff was extremely helpful & friendly. Room was quite comfortable, very clean.
• The surrounding street can be quite noisy in the evening/night.

“Very nice experience, great location, friendly staff. Very near a major municipal transportation intersection so getting around was easy.”

• CLEAN, attractive, well appointed.
• Pillows too hard.

“I have usually selected 3 star places to ensure a clean place. I have been happy with 2-1/2 star (with one exception at Long Beach). The Bijou was 2 star, and while small, it rated high with me.”

• It was run down, sketchy area at night, no accommodations for business traveler, and over priced for what it was.

“Hotel Bijou boasts a boutique experience framed by a cheerful old fashioned movie theater theme. However, the hotel is run down. The accommodations are poor: No A/C, bad neighborhood at night, loud street, no amenities for business travelers at all, and breakfast was well under par. In short, keep looking. San Francisco offers much better hotels for the same price!”

• Great service and wonderful, bright colors throughout the hotel.
• The breakfast is very limited, no fruit or healthy options.

“Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel. It is a few blocks from a major transportation hub and is within walking distance of many tourist attractions. However, it is in the Tenderloin district of San Fran, so there are some shady characters pan handling everyday. I didn't mind this, however, if you don't like passing pan handlers each time you leave the hotel, I don't recommend this location.”

• The location was great, the staff friendly.
• There was hair on the two bathrobes in our room, gross.

“The hotel really wasn't worth, but the location was great, so I suppose that's what we paid for. we were grossed out by several hairs on our bathrobes, it made us look at everything more closely.”

• The location was excellent because it was two blocks away from where my seminar was.
• Every night at about 4-5 am, my pipes would shake a few times and would wake me up from a sound sleep.

“All in all this was an good hotel for the money, it was clean and in a convenient location. The only problem was the shaking of my pipes in the middle of the night which would wake me up from a sound sleep.”
