“Excellent room, friendly service. Had to pay extra for 2 beds.” May 7, 2009 by
Luis from Dorchester,MA “Great view and accommodations!” May 7, 2009 by
Linda from Edmonton,Canada
“We were very pleased with our stay at the Westin St Francis. The concierge provided excellent service and their recommendations were appreciated and enjoyed. As mentioned above, we were upgraded to a traditional king room - beyond what is usually available through Priceline.” May 7, 2009 by
from Brentwood,CA
“They where rude about the price and would not give me two beds.” May 6, 2009 by
Kathryn from Santa Rosa,CA
“Second week in a month we got the Westin St Francis and we loved it again.” May 5, 2009 by
Holly from Scottsdale,AZ
“We checked in with a very nice front desk agent, and he let us know that the type of room we had booked was sold out, so he upgraded us to a giant room. It was nice, but there was no bathtub and the wall was so thin that we could hear everything that our neighbor was saying. At 4 in the morning. Not cool. We had cocktails in the Clock Bar. Overpriced and just okay. For the price, I would have rather walked down to the Redwood Room in the Clift Hotel.” May 2, 2009 by
from Calistoga,CA “The room was small, but nice. Seemed updated. Room was also in a small, narrow corner of the building, with no access to sunlight due to being situated in an alley of the roof.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Felix from Elk Grove,CA “Good location and nice staff. Close to everything China Town, Little Italy, Trolley.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Adam from Anaheim,CA
“Very nice historic hotel. Was upgraded to a room in the tower upon check in. Nice room staff was a tad bit snooty and stuck up.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Robert from Rancho Palos Verdes,CA
“Great location, dated but quaint rooms.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Joy from Saint Helena,CA
“Fabulous location in historic building as San Francisco as one could possibly get. Once inside - absolutely quiet. Parking fee of nearly $50 a day is extraordinary. Mini bar is laughable, you have ten seconds before you are charged!” Apr 27, 2009 by
Diana from Everett,WA
“Staff was aware of my needs and could have accommodated me on the first try. Instead, my first room had a wet floor, the second room was not large enough for a roll away bed. I ended up paying for an upgrade because I didn't want to walk back and fourth any longer. Each time my room was changed, I was the one walking all the way up to my room and then down again, kid, luggage and all. For a 4* hotel, I believe they could have stepped up to the plate better than they did.” Apr 25, 2009 by
Cheyenne from San Jose,CA
“I was pushed back into the elevator by a staff member and the clerk at the front desk was snotty and rude and unresponsive to my complaint.” Apr 24, 2009 by
Brian from Sacramento,CA
“The St. Francis is indeed a Union Square icon, and stays in the past have been incredible. This trip around the room was incredibly small, and the air conditioner was noisy.” Apr 24, 2009 by
Thomas from El Dorado,AR
“Great hotel with specticular views of the city.” Apr 22, 2009 by
Jennifer from Sacramento,CA “I received an upgrade on arriving at the hotel. The only caveat being I was directly next to the elevators, which was a little noisy. However, the view from the 18th floor combined with the cleanliness and spaciousness of the room (surprising for downtown San Francisco) made for a fine stay.” Apr 22, 2009 by
Rosario from Houston,TX
“The location is amazing. Right in the heart of shopping in San Francisco. The concierge was very helpful with providing areas of interest, directions and alternative methods of transportation. The rooms were delightful and what I expect from a Westin.” Apr 21, 2009 by
Liv from San Jose,CA
“We enjoyed the elegant surroundings and international crowd. Very comfortable for our quick weekend getaway.” Apr 20, 2009 by
CC from Merced,CA
“The hotel, lobby, amenities, etc. were quit nice. However, I expected the room quality to be better. I realize I stayed in the basic, least expensive room, but I still think it should have been cleaner. The comforter was stained and there was hair in between the blankets and sheets. The bathroom was dusty.” Apr 19, 2009 by
Josephine from Atascadero,CA
“This is a very old, luxury hotel with all of the latest upgrades. The walls were thin, but we brought our own music with speakers, so we were okay. Great selection of in-room movies, convenient location with trustworthy valet parking. Walking distance from everything!” Apr 18, 2009 by
Alisa from Santa Cruz,CA “It was awful.” Apr 17, 2009 by
Sujin from Fort Lee,NJ
“Extremely good location especially for shopping lovers, next to cable car stop and muni/bart station. Wall is extremely thin and you will know what happens in the next room in detail and vice versa.” Apr 17, 2009 by
Lori from Modesto,CA
“Perfect location for sightseeing. Very comfortable, although small, room.” Apr 17, 2009 by
Michael from Concord,CA
“Beautiful downstairs small room-miserable soundproofing.” Apr 15, 2009 by
Carol from Sacramento,CA
“Great location, lovely room, and comfy bed.” Apr 14, 2009 by
Rich from Richmond,CA
“The hotel location was superb for easy access to public transportation and cable cars, shopping, theater and restaurants. Our standard room was small, yet comfortable with a flat screen TV and newer mattress and clean, high thread count cotton bedding. The historic building itself is large, warm, and welcoming.” Apr 14, 2009 by
Greg from Newberry,FL
“A great hotel with a rich history and great location. The Oak Room service was superior.” Apr 11, 2009 by
Alan from Valley Village,CA
“Lovely hotel with a friendly and courteous staff.” Apr 8, 2009 by
Barry from Folsom,CA
“While I am sure the hotel can live up to its reputation my experience did not. The room was the size of my closet at home and should not be used at all. There was not enough room for two night stands. No robes (which is standard at other Westin Hotels). It was an inside room with no view and no sunlight. Paint chipping in the bathroom. No soap for the shower. The room had an over sized double, a small desk, and a dresser that also housed the television. Love the area but hated the hotel.” Apr 7, 2009 by
Bill from Menlo Park,CA
“The hotel is clean and service is very helpful and friendly.” Apr 5, 2009 by
Jeannette from Stockton,CA
“The hotel was amazing and very convenient. The service was good. The hotel only gave us 1 queen size bed. When I asked for 2 double beds or 1 king. That was disappointing.” Apr 2, 2009 by
Jason from Santa Rosa,CA
“In its hayday this hotel was 1st class all the way, its been run down and has not been updated in a long time, the walls are very thin and the parking is a gip at $49.95.” Mar 31, 2009 by
George from Columbus,OH
“This hotel has a perfect location, wonderful staff, and a great display of Ansel Adams photos in the lobby. The bed was generously appointed and very comfortable. The internet service worked flawlessly. My only gripe is the bathroom: bad lighting and a tiny shower stall.” Mar 7, 2009 by
Bill from Eugene,OR
“Excellent location; friendly/helpful staff, interior room so very quiet. Refrigerator didn't open; room phone didn't work.” Feb 19, 2009 by
Sarah from Sunland,CA
“The location was excellent, right in Union Square. However some of the staff was not friendly. They also charged $12 to use their gym. The walls are too thin and you can hear kids crying and people conducting business very loudly. I would not recommend it for a romantic getaway; it's okay if you won't be in the room much but not good to relax and sleep if that is your ultimate goal.” Feb 18, 2009 by
Mary from Chicago,IL
“It's a very old hotel, with very thin doors. You can hear the noise in the hallway too well when in your room. Room was super small. Gym was ok, but no treadmills.” Feb 18, 2009 by
Teresa from Santa Rosa,CA
“Decent Room. Staff was not too helpful.” Feb 5, 2009 by
Sharon from Olympia,WA
“A wonderful 3 day/night stay. Hopping bar, easy check in/out. Location. A very beautiful and certainly one of the Great Hotels.” Jan 22, 2009 by
Tasha from Vancouver,Canada
“The hotel was lovely, it was an excellent location. However, the front desk staff were rude and unfriendly. The front desk manager was not very nice or helpful either.” Jan 12, 2009 by
Judith from Wrightwood,CA
“This hotel has such old world charm. It is a living time capsule to the area. I loved the history chronicled throughout the hotel. The location is central to shopping and dining. It is very easy to move throughout the city from this location. I can't wait to return.” Jan 11, 2009 by
Terry from Albuquerque,NM
“The hotel was right off I-75, easy off, easy on. The room was comfortable, everything was accessible, and it was a perfect place to stay the night on a road trip.” Jan 5, 2009 by
Eva from Colorado Springs,CO
“The St. Francis is an old hotel with new tower add on. We stayed in the old part, the room was small but comfortable. My husband has stayed here on business and said that the rooms he had were larger and had street (union square) views. You can walk to china town,Nob hill and of course shoppping. The cable car stop is nearby as is the subway (BART).” Jan 4, 2009 by
Toby from Severn,MD
“Excellent location and staff. Concierge was very helpful. Convenient to public transportation, shopping, and dining.” Dec 15, 2008 by
Virginia from Plano,TX
“It was a nice hotel for the price. Clean, comfortable and very good location. But very small rooms.” Dec 4, 2008 by
Christina from Morristown,NJ
“This hotel has a nice lobby and nice staff but that is where the pluses end. Our room fit the bed and a TV with barely any room to put our bags. It was so small, I felt claustrophobic even though I'm not. We asked for a bigger room and they gave us the same size room with a smaller bed in it! Also, their parking cost $56 a day not including the tip to the guys. It is completely ridiculous when you can Park down the street for $20 a day. The restaurants are super expensive and average at best. The lunch we ordered through the room service cost $60 for 2 burgers and took 1 1/2 hours to come. Skip this place.” Oct 30, 2008 by

“What a San Francisco tradition to stay at the St. Francis on Union Square! Our wonderful large, high ceiling room overlooked Union Square. We had thick, down comforters, the decor was elegant and the staff was very helpful and friendly. At first we were worried that our room was next to the elevators but we were in the original building with the thick walls but, never heard a thing and the fact that the elevator stop running from 10 pm – 6 am really helped keep things quiet. We could only hear the sounds of the cable cars outside our window and they were what San Francisco is all about!

“The Westin St. Francis is a beautiful hotel located across the street from Union Square. To see this hotel at night is unbelievably phenominal. The entire staff was friendly. The rooms were extremely small for the normal price. I also stayed at the Westin on 54th and Market. Which used to be the Argonaut. The rooms were much bigger and nice. The staff was friendly and they were able to accommodate me on short notice after checking out of the Westin St. Francis.” Oct 26, 2008 by
Greg
“Stayed in the "historic" portion of the hotel. The room, while comfortable and nice, was extremely small. I think the new tower portion rooms are considerably larger.” Oct 24, 2008 by
Ben
“Location is great. Service is good but room was very small.” Oct 7, 2008 by
