• Cleanliness is lacking. Uncomfortable and cold lobby.

“I reported a disgusting and very unsanitary condition to hotel manager and didn't even receive a follow up response. Therefore this condition and violation of health department regulations was reported to the San Francisco Health Department.”

• The doorman was terrific. Lots of personality and advice!
• The hotel dining room was terribly overpriced. The $16.00 breakfast buffet included cold cereal, cold pastries and fruit. Much better to eat out!

“They were overbooked and there were a great many folks waiting for rooms into the late evening. We felt lucky to get a room with 2 double beds. Concierge was stuffy and had no charisma. We tried but could not get him to smile! Loved the location and the doorman could not have been nicer!”

• The hotel it self was great; the staff was great; also the beds are every comfortable.
• The room was small in comparison to other hotels we've stayed at.

“If you are forced to go to a meeting in smelly, expensive downtown San Francisco, then the Parc 55 is a great choice. Inexpensive restaurants are on site, so you don't have to leave the building. Staff is very friendly and helpful.”

• I was on a smoking floor and the room was a little musty smelling.

• Comfortable beds.
• Thin walls, no minibar, dim lighting over bathtub, no slippers or laundry bag.

“Parc 55 is extremely convenient for those w/o wheels. Bart and Muni are literally across the street and down the stairs. Downtown is all within walking distance. However, lots of homeless people outside. A few things lacked - minibar, cotton balls, and slippers. I could also overhear conversations in the room next to ours and the direct dial phones did not work. There was also no dry cleaning laundry bag and other basics. The beds are nice and the room is roomy.”

“The hotel immediately wanted me to upgrade which I declined. However, considering the low floor on the street which contributed to less sleep, I should have either asked for another room or upgraded. There was no refrigerator in the room?”

• Location PRO- near shopping, restaurants, transportation, etc. Comfortable bed.
• Location CON- near busy area and there were bums and drunk people near BART. Did not feel safe at night around that area.

“The hotel was nice and centrally located. I did not really feel safe coming home late from a night of dinner and dancing. We went to get some food at the Carl's Junior next to the hotel for a late night snack and there were so many bums and drunk people approaching us and smelling like urine.”

• Hotel's night manager.

“Biggest problem, the internet connection in room did not work and they made me call an 800 number and wait on hold for 20 minutes. Still didn't work and night manager said "what do you want me to do about it?"”

• Excellent bathrooms, very clean with nice tile and space.
• Neighborhood is loud, but expected in Downtown San Francisco.

“The Parc 55 is a very nice, no-nonsense hotel conveniently located near Powell and Market in and Union Square. The rooms are spacious with new touches, such as a flat-screen television and newly renovated bathrooms. Staff are professional and helpful.”

“Overall I was very well pleased with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and courteous and the room was clean with a nice view (23rd floor). The access to public transportation was superb.”

• Location, location, location! And great rooms!
• Not flexible with late checkout.

“My fiancee and I loved this hotel! The rooms were great! Roomy, comfy, clean. What more do you want? And probably the best thing was the location. You are literally steps away from the Bart station, cable cars, F car on Market, shopping along Market, and Union Square is two short blocks away! Two give you an idea of how close we were to the Bart station, the Bart train to SFO was leaving at 2:12PM, we left our room at 2:05 and had time to buy tickets and get on the train with 2 minutes to spare! So convenient!”

• Check in was fast and the friendly. Check out was also fast.
• Valet parking attendant was extremely rude. Stated I was parked too long for just checking in.

“Overall a very good hotel in a great location. Was not too noise, staff were professional and service was overall good. This is not a 4 star hotel as some sites say they are! I would stay here again, especially if I want to go shopping.”

“It's comfortable and clean and nice rooms and good staff. The street noise was a bit loud. We were lucky to get the hotel, it was same hotel our family was staying at which made it very convenient.”

• Outstanding Location, very close to Union Square and great shops on Market Street, as well as Pier 39 etc. The Concierge and Staff are very helpful.
• Room and floor weren't very clean. I could not walk on the carpet in my room in my socks. Non smoking room smelled a little of smoke. Bring Candles.

“Being in San Francisco, parking costs are going to be an issue, so plan on $40 dollars per night to use the Hotel's Valet Parking. The location is amazing, and the entrance is nice. The room needs updating, and the cleaning staff should probably trained better or held accountable to doing a better job. There is no indoor pool or hot tub. The fitness facilities are very nice.”

• I expected much more quality in the room. It's old and not fashion as a 4 star.

“Area has a lot of construction going on, view was terrible. Upper floors had better view. "Club level" has perks like cocktails, breakfast. We did NOT get this level. Nothing was included. Everything was overly expensive. Thai restaurant and Pub bar was great! $40 a day to park car!”

• Very nice fitness center, open 24 hours. Rooms were very nice.
• Common areas smelled like smoke even though it was a non-smoking floor.

“Upscale hotel in convenient location in Downtown San Francisco. Very close to shopping, restaurants and easy access to BART (across the plaza). Fitness center was superb. No free wireless or free business center, which was surprising. Common areas (hallways/lobby) smelled like cigarette smoke, though it was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel.”

• It's in need of renovation.

“I would not rate this a 4 star hotel. Valet parking was so busy that they actually told us not to try and take the car out during our stay, the rooms are in need of updating and our room had a funky smell that we couldn't identify - if forced I would have to say maybe urine. The staff was moderately helpful. I had to wait 20 minutes and make two requests just to receive mouthwash after the housekeeping staff told me that mouthwash was for VIP's only. That to me is ridiculous! Mouthwash should be an automatic amenity at what is described as a 4 star hotel. I definitely won't stay there again.”

• Great location, less than a Block from Union Square.
• City noise kept me up at night. I recommend getting a room as high up as possible.

“This was a quick trip I planned at the last second and I was pleasantly surprised at the location of this hotel. It is right in the middle of the Union Square area. The Rooms were large albeit a bit dated, but not so bad for SF. When I checked in at 3PM the room wasn't ready, so I went to a cafe a block away and when I came back the room was ready. The Bed was extremely comfortable, but the Outside City noise kept me from getting a sound sleep. That's what you get when you are in the Heart of the City. All and all I enjoyed my time at the Parc 55 and would recommend to my friends and family.”

• Great location close to BART and in the middle of Downtown.
• Bell staff not helpful. Room was average and too warm.

“The hotel is an average business hotel. The bell staff was not helpful from an information point of view and once we said we didn't want a limo to the airport they pretty much ignored us. The room was too warm during our stay. Maintenance came and supposedly fixed but actually never did. This is an ok hotel for business but not a memorable place to stay.”

• Coffee pot is stored next to toilet, so mist particles get into pot.

“Great location and price. The return of your vehicle from valet parking can be up to a 20 minute wait. Definitely worth a return stay.”

• This hotel was very noisy and service was lacking.

“The location of this hotel is great, right by Union Square. But, this is not what I consider an upscale hotel. The staff is lacking, the rooms are a bit outdated, the bed was too firm and it was noisy. From the partiers in the hotel to all of the street noise, I would never stay there again.”

“The location of the hotel is great, close to all the best shopping and cable car lines. Wonderful restaurants were recommended by the extremely professional concierge, all within walking distance. Hotel was clean, rooms were of nice quality. They were very accommodating to some special needs. I would definitely stay here again.”

• 24 hour parking policy made it difficult to explore city on day of departure.

“Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. Great location in the heart of the city. Sports Bar in the hotel left a bit to be desired in service and cleanliness. They also have a 24 hour parking policy and even though we were guests of the hotel, they wanted to charge us additional on our day of departure if we left our car and went out for lunch and shopping because we would have been over the 24 hour mark. Most 4 star hotels are gracious enough to let you leave your car if you are a guest with them.”

• Location is perfect, very clean, reasonable price.
• No free internet, no free fridge.

“Location The Parc 55 Hotel is located in the best place of San Francisco Down town. The Powell Street Bart Station, cable car terminal, bus stops and SF visitor center are all in 100 feet distance. Union Square/Macy is 2 blocks away, another giant shopping center is just cross the Market Street. You can also find Walgreen/Starbucks and many retail stores, restaurant/pub along the market street and around the Union Square. Walk distance to Chinatown. If you stay in the high level rooms (10floor or up), the street noise will not be an issue.”

• The room was attractive and comfortable.
• Lack of amenities, location, lack of 4-star service.

“A two star experience in a 4-star hotel. No honor bar, bottled water, or wireless in the room, only three channels working on TV. We had to wear wristbands for re-entry because "undesirables" sneak into the hotel, neighborhood was dicey. Hotel operator accidentally made a 4:30 a.m. wakeup call to us on New Years Eve, virtually ruining the night on a one-night stay. Don't know how the management would have compensated in any way - I had no time to speak to anyone because we had a half hour wait for our car at valet parking. .”

• It is a very large hotel (we prefer to stay at smaller hotels).

• Nice front desk, clean bed.
• Valet got mad when only tipped $5 each time he got my car.

“My experience at the Parc-55 was good. The front desk was friendly. The room was clean although a bit dated. I like the fact that they clean the quilt cover daily. Usually hotel quilts freak me out. One problem was that one of the valet parking guys was very rude. He got angry when I only tipped him $5. I spent about $40 just on valet tips. I also made the mistake of walking down the wrong block into the tenderloin section. Lots of homeless people and some that harassed me. Ive never seen more homeless than in san Francisco.”

• The overall 4-star quality of the hotel was consistent in every aspect.
• It's a terrific location with proximity to Union Square but it is on the edge of the Tenderloin, a rather depressed neighborhood. Overlook it!

“This hotel has the overall quality of many of the 4-star hotels in SF, though surely not a 5-star. Very polite and experienced staff throughout the chain of services. The location is excellent for Union Square shopping and theatre even though it is adjacent to a depressing neighborhood on its east side. I'd be happy to stay there again.”

• Great location, clean rooms with a great view.
• The staff was not helpful and not very honest. Rooms not very spacious.

“The hotel was in a great location with a very nice view. The restraint and bar were nice. The staff was however not very helpful. There was a mix-up to start with the wrong number of rooms that they attempted to put us in the wrong room level even though our rooms were to be in the club level. Even though their reservations confirmed this the night before the desk clerk lied to my face about it.”

• Almost everything.
• Upgrading work being done which put some facilities off limits.

“A very nice property. All staff was friendly polite and eager to help. Had good knowledge of restaurants, entertainments, what are "must sees" rooms are clean and comfortable with more than adequate facilities for the business person or the tourist. Location is central to most of major attractions and a couple of minutes from public transit. In all a pleasurable experience.”

• The beds are comfortable but the linens are not of the highest quality, but still felt wonderful. Pillows a plenty!
• I did not like the fact that the hotels web site did not tell you about the spa being under construction. It was a real bummer.

“The rooms are nice, good size and roomy. Don't expect to take pictures out your room windows their filthy. Check with hotel before booking for the amenities that are not up and running. The web site does not tell you. The price for parking is a little steep. $40.00 a day so you might want to check around for a better deal. The location was great, a half block off market and It seems that every time we thought we would get lost the motel was always there. It's a great landmark for the area. It's true about shopping every things just a block or two away. If you are in to a hotel thats packed with amities this is not the place for you. If you are very wealthy It's a nice place but If not look else where. Although we were treated very well we were bored. The cable stinks too. There are so many other hotels in the area that next time I hope to find one with more to do.”
