• The common places; it seemed to be clean and remodeled recently.
• The room was small, King Bed was not available, and mostly the curtains didn't have a sun shade.

• Very comfortable stay.
• No coffee in rooms. Have to shower,etc and trudge down.

“Hotel desk was very busy and had to wait a little longer than I was comfortable with. At 2:45 they said our room on floor 6 was not ready, but gave us a no view room on floor 2. We could have waited, but were tired from a days jet, train travel and wanted a room. Rate was good, thanks to Priceline! Would stay thee again, but a 4 star rating might be a reach, in my estimation. Very nice experience though.”

• Staff courtesy and service.

“For the price, it far exceeded my expectations. Parking was more than fair. They offered valet 24hour for competitive price. The staff was more than helpful in recommending hot spots and best way to get there. Being in a hurry, we ate during a peak hour in the corner of the in house restaurant, expecting to wait longer on service. We were in and out in about 30 minutes. The room was gorgeous. Obviously newly renovated. No regrets, it's the Hilton.”

• Recently underwent a major renovation, so it was like new. Clean, comfortable, good bed, and nice furnishings.

“Fun location for those who might want to take advantage of the cable cars. Good views from atop Nob Hill. The front desk staff was very pleasant, although it appeared the day we checked in that they may have had computer challenges.”

“We had a very pleasant stay at the Stanford Court in San Francisco. The staff was so helpful and the hotel lovely. They even let us check in early which was great as the day we arrived was a hideously rainy day.”

“Spent 3 nights at the hotel, it has an excellent gym, complimentary ear buds for the treadmills and a great free-weight section. The parking wasn't too badly priced for SF ($45.00) overnight and the location was perfect for dining out.”

• Scratchy towels, bathroom pocket doors hard to open/close.

“Liked the room very much. The bar/dining area did not have much character and was expensive so we chose to eat/drink out at neighborhood places. Parking was very expensive; we moved the car to a garage nearby.”

• Great central city location on the crossing of two cable car lines. Able to easily get anywhere.
• Hotel is still under renovation although barely noticeable. Parking is expensive and no free wireless Internet.

“Overall a nice choice for the business or leisure traveler. Located near the top of Nob Hill on the intersection of two cable car lines. Hotel restaurant appears makeshift and expensive at the moment. Many inexpensive good restaurants are nearby if you take the time to look. Rooms were simple but nice with large flat screen TV's, a small work desk and a table with accompanying chairs. Beds and linens were comfortable and clean. Hotel staff was great.”

• Comfortable beds and great coffee.
• The hotel was on Nob hill and was exhausted by the time I got to my room. It was great exercise.

“Overall, I was very happy with the hotel. Great view of the city and on the cable car line. If you like hiking and don't mind climbing the hill it is a perfect location, China town, Union Square, Nob hill famous hotels. Comfortable beds, linens, towels and good coffee.”

• Location was great. Nicely furnished rooms.
• As always, parking is expensive in SFO.

“The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was quiet, always a plus, the hotel looked like it was recently renovated, the bed was super comfy and just a short walk to Union Square, all the shopping and the cable cars. I would definitely stay again!”

• The location was excellent.
• When I asked the concierge for a restaurant that was within walking distance I was told of one that was 4 blocks away which turned out to be 10 block.

“The best thing about this hotel is location! Cable car stops right outside which can get you to several of the hot spots in the city. The room was comfortable and the hotel staff was ok. Not real friendly but certainly not rude.
”

• Location!
• Hotel was undergoing renovations of the lobby and some common areas.

“We arrived and was greeted right away. The hotel was centrally located and walking distance from most of the SF landmarks. Our room was clean and had a great view. The bed was one of the best I have sleep in-down comforters and white linen. The hotel was under renovation, but minimized guest impact to their best ability. Overall, very nice and would highly recommend!”

• The rooms were well appointed and recently renovated.
• The lobby area was under construction and the elevators were slow.

“The hotel is nicely located on Nob Hill. Public transportation is limited to the hotel. Despite the lobby bar and restaurant being under construction the facility is well maintained and nicely appointed. The rooms were recently renovated and nicely appointed. The bed and linens are very comfortable. Housekeeping keeps everything clean and neat and the attendants are polite and courteous. I really liked the hotel.”

• The staff was very friendly and accommodating in requests.
• This hotel was being remodeled and it was supposed to be done before we got there and there was no AC (during summer time) until our last day.

“The hotel is in a great location and was very clean. They were in the middle construction so that is the only reason that we did not enjoy our stay. The rooms did not have AC service the entire trip and it was still summer time. However, the staff was very nice and welcoming and did their best to make the best of the situation.”

“I would recommend this hotel to single travelers and couples only. The staff was very friendly, with the exception of 2 valets that left a terrible impression. The rooms were beautiful and very well appointed. The location was perfect, just a short walk to Union Square.”

• Loved the location, it was being renovated at the time so we did not get the full experience. I will definitely go back once it is finished.
• Under construction, but it was not bothersome or a real problem, just the lobby and other main areas were blocked off.

“This hotel is turning into a modern, hip retreat. The rooms are great, the location is awesome. You are right in the center of everything if you are looking for the tourist attractions. I would recommend this hotel and I will definitely stay there again.”

“The hotel was under construction so it was ok. They didn't have a refrigerator in the room and the maid woke me up at 9:45 to give me a warm bottle of water! which I didn't ask for. they didn't have a sitting area where you could have a glass of wine or just relax. if it had all of that it would of been a nice place to stay. it just wasn't want I expected when I place the order.”

• Undergoing renovations, room was very small and poorly laid out.

“The hotel is undergoing renovations and it's hard to tell the new parts from the old. They are going for a colorful, floral, retro look that is very 70's Best Western Hotel. Maybe not the best for a 4-star hotel. The room was very small with a hodge-podge of excessive furniture. The small bathroom was poorly lit and the tiny closet space was eaten up by the complimentary bathrobes and ironing board. On the plus side - the location is good and the staff was great.”

“The Renaissance Stanford is position perfectly in Nob Hill and neighbors luxurious hotels like the Fairmont. By far the customer services stands out as the best feature of this hotel. Everyone was extremely helpful and seemed to genuinely care about your stay. While the hotel was under construction, one can see that this hotel has great promise. The rooms were on par with all Renaissance hotels and the champagne service was wonderful. Lastly, the concierge, was the embodiment of the hotel's commitment to excellence.”

“I was disappointed in the hotel. Not what I thought it would be for a 4 star hotel. The room was very small, no double beds were available and we had 4 adults. Roll away was uncomfortable. Air mattress had a hole in it, also uncomfortable.”
