• Everything was new and clean, the staff was very friendly and new historically commentary about hotel. Flat-screen TV also a perk!
• 3rd floor/restaurant area was still under construction but no big deal! Never heard them working at all! Can't wait to see completed next time!

“Newly renovated with beautiful / high quality touches. Everything felt very clean and fresh! Flat-screen HD TV with HD cable made staying in a fabulous experience. Bed was super comfortable (and coming from a frequent business traveler, that is a huge plus!). Staff was very personable and even knew interesting facts about the history behind the hotel. Location was amazing two blocks from Union Square! Couldn't have a better stay in SF!”

• There were not two Queen beds available as I was told there was just two doubles and being 6"4" they are too small.

• Parking charge exorbitant.

• The linens are luscious!
• Small bathroom with a lovely shower but no bathtub.

“The room was huge and luxurious. Nothing beats the fluffy comforter, pillows, and towels. They also have nice in room sundries. No view, but that wasn't a biggie. The bathroom was surprisingly small. If there had been two of us, it would have been a problem.”

• Nice plasma TV and internet availability.
• Asked for double bed and was granted; only to find out they only gave me a single king.

“Very comfortable place to stay and walking distance to Union Square which made my stay hassle free. Service was great and food from room service was very good but, of course, pricey. Nice hotel and would stay there again.”

“We loved this hotel. It was in a great location, close to union square and all the shopping. The room was comfortable, very clean, and contemporary. The hotel staff was very friendly. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it!”

• Efficient friendly capable staff. Comfortable room.
• Billed for breakfast we never received.

“Comfortable hotel with efficient staff & great location. Some rooms are "tired" not yet refurbished. Be sure to check unauthorized charges to your cc after your checkout billed twice for room and billed for breakfast buffets in error.”

• The room was nicely sized. Very spacious and good use of space.
• The hotel staff was not accommodating and the "butler" service was horrible. Never answered my request for ice.

“Was a very nice hotel, except the staff was not very accommodating and the butler service completely ed. Other than our room smelling of paint. It wasn't bad stepping over construction materials on the 11th floor. Internet hook up is a complete rip off. Our hook up was bad and was not fixed until 3am.which they were gracious enough to waive the fee.”

• The bed linens were fantastic! I was so comfortable in this hotel.
• The towels were kind of rough and stiff. Very surprising. Also I was next to a vacant room under construction which made me nervous.

“I had a wonderful stay at the JW Marriot. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, and immediately remembered my name and the car I came in. The room exceeded my expectations with soft comforters and pillows, flat screen TV, wall to wall marble bathroom, and other great amenities. The work-out facilities were updated and clean. There were plenty of good machines and didnt feel like a broom closet like many other hotels do. It actually felt like a mini-gym. The location of the hotel was perfect! Lots of great restaurants and shopping including the tiffany store, H&M, Zara, and all of the other great places I love to shop when I go to San Francisco. Overall, I had a great stay. Although I was a business traveler, the hotel was my favorite part of my last trip and I hope to stay there again.”

• Gorgeous view from 20th floor!
• Bad TV, internet access and shower.

“If you don't need to use the internet, you'll be fine. Also, if you are under 5'8" and under 160 lbs. The miniscule shower "compartment" might be o.k. For you. Don't expect to chill your own medications, beer or soda because the new, "improved" fridges are idiotic.”

• If I have to pick something. The location. But what can you do with San Francisco?

“This hotel was above and beyond what I was expecting to see. The building inside is very beautiful. Has a lot of class and history in it. The staff was very friendly. The room was arranged in a way that made us feel comfortable and relaxed. I would recommend it to anybody that was planning on a trip to the city of San Francisco. A 5 star quality.”

“I've stayed at this hotel before and loved it. However, this time Im having a little trouble getting my incidentals deposit reedited back to my account. It's a little annoying, but I don't think it will detour me from staying there again.”

“The location was great, one block off of union square. Parking on the street at night is very easy way to not have to pay the valet parking fee. And street parking is free from Saturday at 6pm to Monday morning. Staff was very friendly. Bed was super comfy.”

• Boring interiors reminiscent of open floor atriums of a lower rated chain.

“I upgraded my room to a room that had been remodeled and was given an executive room. The window was small, the view not great. The new flat screen was not properly receiving signal, a working refrigerator had to be requested. They are just not quite ready, but they will get there. Excellent customer service, very nice, spacious baths with separate bath and shower. The interior, atrium like floors remind me of a lesser rated hotel; not very luxurious but not much can be done about that. Excellent location, close to union square.”

“Great hotel. One of Marriotts better locations. The room was clean, modern and well appointed. The location is perfect for the leisure traveler as it is a short walk to most quality locations, including great restaurants. The staff was very friendly and my overall experience was very nice.”

• The bed was insanely comfortable.
• Expensive parking.

“This was a very comfortable room with a really comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom. They also offered to upgrade us to a suite, but as we had to leave the hotel for an event, we didn't take them up on it. The staff was very nice and the room was comfortable and clean. I definitely would love to stay here again.”

• I loved it all.

“Excellent rooms. Much nicer than other 4 star hotels in the area. Flat panel TV, second TV and phone in the bathroom. Large bathroom with a separate tub and shower stall. Mirrors everywhere. Excellent hotel for the price. Great value.”

• Elegant Hotel, 1st Class Service, Opulent, Beautiful bedding, excellent location.
• Beautiful hotel needs a little updating, but the quality is there. They are currently renovating.

• Nice sized room and the bathrooms were luxurious. The hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful in assisting us to find our way around town.
• The cost of parking was outrageous!

• Loved the extra space for a family of four; very nice bathroom.
• Plate & spoon left on the floor outside adjacent room for over 12 hours.

“Very elegant hotel convenient for Union Square shopping. We were able to have early check-in at 11 a.m. (hotel checked our baggage) and late check-out at 2 p.m. Nice large marble bathroom with separate bath tub and shower stall. Room had plenty of room - good space in entry hall and by the closet for 4 suitcases. Furniture is looking a bit dated, and windows are not soundproof.”

• The room layout and bathroom was great. Liked the TV in the bathroom.
• The decor is dated but is about to be remodel; new design will be great.

“The room was comfortable and clean, nice bathroom layout. Only negative was the internet didn't work in the room and we had to pay to use the business center. Internet should be free at a 4 star hotel.”

• No access to a microwave.

“The hotel appears to be undergoing renovation which detracted from the four-star billing in my opinion. In fact, it detracted from the overall sense of comfort and elegance that would be possible there. Our room was very comfortable and the bed was excellent. Having a pocket door instead of a regular door for the bathroom did not meet our sense of privacy.”

• Had a bad experience with guests next door at 2: am. Was not handled well at all.

“The best aspect of this hotel is it's location to Union Square and an easy walk to China Town/Italian sections. I stayed at this hotel when it was the Pan Pacific in the resent past and found it to cater to an upper-end clientele. If feel that it still has that type of service and atmosphere, however, the rooms could be upgraded to meet the expectation of 5-6 star rating. Except for the bad night with some untruly guests our stay was pleasant. I would continue to recommend it to anyone.”

• The mattresses were uncomfortable.

“Our stay at the JW Marriott was very nice. The staff accommodated our needs well. The lobby was nice. The servers in the lounge area were very friendly and prompt. The hotel was doing a remodel. Everything was clean and the plans were displayed in the lobby. The mini bars in the room were removed for the remodel. The staff sent a fridge to the room upon request. The bathrooms were beautiful, with a stall shower and a garden tub. I would love to stay again after the remodel.”

“We had a great stay and the hotel we clean and in a great location. However, when I think of jaw Marriott, I think of a very posh hotel and this one just seemed a little "tired". It was a really good stay though.”

• They put us on a low floor. They have the smallest flat screen TV's you can buy.

“The hotel is planning a major renovation this summer. Not sure if they're planning to close the entire hotel or stay open during construction.”
