• Decor of entire building and room was in bad shape and out of style.

“The hotel was adequate, clean, and a good location. However, its decor and amenities did not meet my expectations for a 3 star hotel. I feel if this hotel wants to be rated as a 3 star hotel the management needs to invest in new furniture and decor. It was showing its age both in style and condition.”

• It is extremely close to Fisherman's Wharf and the concierge was extremely helpful.
• Tried check in at 2:30, room not available, asked 3 times in 30 minutes, finally asked for different room that was available.

“Hotel is nice and clean. Staff is friendly. Concierge is extremely helpful. Denny's is more expensive than local, so don't be afraid to walk around the block and eat at smaller, local establishments for breakfast.”

• Nice people willing to work with you for all your need really great for the price.
• The Dennis inside was not that great.

• Having separate building without the same luxuries as the main building.

“My second stay at this hotel. First stay was in main building. This stay was in the other building (at Denny's entrance) that was further from the parking lot and had no amenities in the lobby. Reception check-in desk was super helpful to me both times. She is great. All the staff members are also very friendly.”

“The air conditioner was loud. There wasn't a nice restaurant in the hotel, instead there was Denny's. The room wasn't located in the hotel, it was in an room in another building. There wasn't a tub to relax after a long day of traveling. There was no continental breakfast, instead we had to walk outside to the other building. Simply, I was very unimpressed.”

• When we got there we found out we were staying across the street instead of the main hotel.

“The hotel was nice it had a comfortable bed and clean room. The one bad thing was the noisy people outside late at night on the street. They woke us up sometime after 2am.”

• The location was exactly where we wanted to be and easy to get in and out of.
• There really was not much of a view from our room.

“I generally stay at Hilton properties and was very pleasantly surprised by this property. I would say it was one of the nicest Holiday Inns I have stayed at. For the Market it is in, the price was very good and we would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again if we decide on another overnight stay in San Francisco.”

“There were no places to park temporarily during check in and there was no "hotel parking lot." The linen's were dirty, all in all a poor hotel.”

• Two buildings with little or no services in the annex.

“Great location. Street noise levels were fairly high. No breakfast. This hotel is two large buildings. The secondary building is isolated from the primary and has offers little or no services. If you are in the secondary building it is more like a two star hotel. Long walk across street with luggage to the second unit.”

• Walking on crowded sidewalk with luggage to my bldg. Concierge not present in my bldg. No sleep button on remote control.

“Loved that a PC was on my floor for free use! I could check local events, operating hours of sites, check-in for my flight, email, etc. Location was great; walking distance to Warf, restaurants, tourist sites, and public transportation (easy, economical trip to/from SF Giants game).”

• The hotel was in a great area. It was very clean and very good service.
• Charging me $44.00 a day to park my car. That is the first hotel I have ever stayed at to charge for parking.

“It cost me over $150.00 just for parking. That is another nights stay at most hotels with 2 to 3 stars. I would not have agreed to stay at this hotel if I had known about the parking.”

• It was well situated. Close to all the major attractions on fisherman's Wharf.
• The parking was expensive as well as the room. Not even a fridge in the room to keep water cold.

• No refrigerator had to walk a distance to Beach hotel portion.

“Adequate only very pricey parking costs; next night went to Holiday Inn in Pacifica (10 miles away) and it was wonderful, no parking costs, right on ocean, very clean, wonderful breakfast and amenities. Next time I will drive the extra 10 miles, it was so much more worth it.”

• This hotel offers parking. Although it is expensive and convenient.
• This hotel has 2 buildings that are not connected.

“This hotel served its purpose. The only thing I did not like was that we had to stay in the other building. It looks like the hotel was recently remodeled. Very clean. I would stay here again.”

“Hotel lobby was not inviting. The hotel is old and run down. Our room was behind the front desk next to the hotel generator. The bathroom has been redone and the beds were comfortable. Ok for an economy room, not a 4 star for sure.”

• It's proximity to Fishermans' Wharf.
• Our room, which was not in the main building of the hotel.

“As I was in town to run the SF Marathon, I requested assistance (the evening before) from the hotel staff for a cab from the hotel to the start of the race, approximately 2 miles away. After not being able to reach the front desk by phone from my hotel room, I had to go outside and walk to the hotel's main building to request such assistance. After speaking to the concierge, a front desk staffer, and the bellman (all of whom had different opinions as to whether or not they could arrange a taxi for me in the morning) I spoke to the hotel manager who confirmed he could not help me. Had I relied on the concierge's suggestion to just call him 10 minutes before my estimated departure time, I never would have made my start time for the marathon. All in all, the level of customer service at this hotel was poor.”

• I can't think of anything. I looked into moving hotels and paying twice.
• My room was an ashtray. My girlfriend thought the place was sketchy.

• The location was great to visit fishermans wharf.
• The hotel lobby was on the other side of the street.

“The rooms were clean, the location was great. On the other hand, the hotel was separated in 2 buildings. You have to cross the street to go to the lobby. The hotel corridor and the entrance smell really bad. This might be because of the Dennys in the hotel. It smells old, and like grease. The staff was not the friendliest.”

• Hotel staff went out of their way to make accommodation changes when we arrived. Rooms were neat/clean. Great location on the wharf!
• Parking was an issue. Hotel was full and so were the lots!

• The location was perfect for a family with children.
• Our first room on the lower level was flush with the parking lot and had an ant problem. Once I reported the problem, they changed our room.

• I did not like not having a fridge or coffee maker in the room. Everything including the fitness center was extra at this hotel.

• The location to the Wharf area was fantastic.
• Two separate buildings made check-in and parking a bit awkward for the family.

“This hotel is what you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Nothing fancy but acceptable. We did not spend a lot of time in the room so the location was a great asset. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. As a Priority Club member, we were able to check-in really early.”

• Security in the main lobby (had to use key cards to get in the elevator and bathrooms) and the location was great.
• Denny's and parking.

“This hotel is in a great location! It is only a couple blocks from the sea side of Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, and the cable cars to take you to downtown and Chinatown. The rooms were also nice and the staff was very helpful. The only frustrating thing is the hotel has two buildings - one with out parking (that is where we stayed). I would highly recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.”

• The hotel lacked a decent restaurant and my room had no view.

“For a Holiday Inn, this hotel had well appointed rooms, comfortable beds and free wireless internet access. The hotel restaurant is a Denny's and if that's what you want it was ok. Our room was in a second building that has virtually no lobby, though there was a friendly concierge available. The hotel is well located for Fisherman's Wharf. This area is totally commercialized and uninteresting. It is conveniently located across the street from the charming old, efficient - trolley that runs along the embarcadero and along Market Street, making access to the downtown convenient.”

• Very friendly and helpful staff, great location for tourist activities.
• This walls, heard rowdy group in next room as I was going so sleep at 11 pm.

“Overall we were very pleased with the Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf. The room had two double beds, was very clean, no view but we didn't care about that. Bathroom was clean and sufficient. Very convenient to popular tourist attractions. One minor complaint, thin walls, we heard a lot of talking and laughing from the next room as we went to sleep at 11 pm. Not bad enough to keep us awake, just slightly irritating. Excellent staff. When you walk past anyone (housekeeping, maintenance person, concierge) they would smile and politely say "Good Morning/Evening".”

• Microwave oven was provided only after couple of requests, even then the oven was provided only after 2 days as they didn't have enough ovens.

“Location is perfect for all main attractions, a functional kitchenette or at least a good microwave will be useful.”

“The proximity of the hotel to Fisherman's Wharf is a great asset. It was great to get a value priced motel that close to the wharf. Public transportation (city bus - 5 to 10 minutes) to Chinatown was available from a bus stop approximately 1 block away. Was also impressed with the presence of security in the hotel.”

“The traffic noise which the front desk wrongly claimed would stop at night. However, location is great being close to Fisherman's Wharf and other tourist attractions. Another plus is the Kiosk that allowed you to reserve and print out your boarding passes.”

“If you are planning to see San Francisco, this is the place to stay. You can walk to many of the good restaurants and attractions on Fisherman's Wharf, or if you plan to go further a field, try the frequent buses and trams. The hotel is comfortable, friendly, clean, with a friendly and helpful staff.”

• Very nice location. Near the F line and Fisherman's Wharf.
• Air conditioner is very noisy. Difficult to get the temperature correct.

“The rooms are plenty big enough. Nice location. Convenient to the Wharf area and Ghirardelli Square. Clean rooms. Housekeeping staff does a fine job. Bathroom is good. Could use some more storage for toiletries, however. Can be noisy depending upon street activity. Air conditioners do not allow you to readily set and maintain a constant temperature. Air conditioners are very noisy. Denny's is in one of the buildings for a convenient food break.”

“The hotel was wonderful for the price. We can really complain about having to cross the street with our bags to get to our room but on the plus side we were in the building with the Denny's. Aside from that, the hotel was clean, everyone was friendly, and the location was marvelous!”

• It was a good location to fishermans wharf.
• Two separate builings.2nd one not close to pool. Inconvenient.

“Very inconvenient for checking in and then hauling your luggage across the street. As well it was a walk across the street to use the pool. The main building was nicer than the second and it was very inconvenient to use the facilities. I was disappointed in being put in the second building.”
