• The staff was extraordinarily friendly.
• The rooms were pretty noisy (thin walls).

“I had an exceptional stay at the Argonaut, right by the water and convenient transportation to San Francisco. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities clean, and the decor is whimsical but attractive. The only drawback is that the walls are thin and so the rooms are noisy (this is not a hotel for light sleepers). But I really enjoyed my stay.”

• Valet parking is over priced.

“Great location right on the wharf is perfect for families vacationing. Very kid-friendly with a couple of nice touches for mom and dad. Kempton does an excellent job with their properties.”

• Fun decor, included amenities and friendly staff made the hotel unique and worthwhile.
• No major complaints. My only recommendation would be to offer DVD¿s to use in the DVD player.

“I would highly recommend this hotel. The location was perfect for visitors. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were stocked with additional amenities including great products like aveda. It includes (for free!) Internet access, several choices for your morning newspaper, and even a DVD player in your room! We also liked the fact they were environmentally friendly, with recycle bins located in the rooms.”

• The service was profoundly great.
• Not a single thing negative to say.

“The greeting by the bellmen who opened the cab doors as we pulled up was a cut above the norm and set a tone that caught our attention. This tone was maintained by the front desk and concierge staff, the entire service experience of staying at this hotel was unusually great. I travel over 100k miles a year and stay in a lot of hotels. Whatever training they are providing at the Argonaut is working and they are to be congratulated. I highly, highly recommend this hotel, the entire staff takes a lot of pride in their work and it shows.”

“Wonderful hotel. Stayed here and brought my 60 lb. dog. Most comfortable bed I can ever remember sleeping in. Would definitely stay there and recommend to others again.”

• Staff was very friendly. They had wine every night and treasure for the kids.
• Liked everything, except maybe a lack of parking.

“The hotel was nautical themed. Which the kids loved. IT was an old building that was totally modernized. The rooms seemed very clean. Maybe even new carpet, paint, decor and bedding. Not a huge room but normal sized. We loved our stay here. The location was very convenient to lots of touristy spots.”

“The locations of this hotel was awesome!! The staff was very friendly. Right around the corner from the cable car turn around. Across the street from the beach. Down the street from Pier 39 and all the awesome attractions SF has. A four star resort that should be a 5. I will recommend this hotel to everyone.”

• Parking, parking, parking,... and the cost of parking..$36.00 plus tax a night....that's crazy.

“Other than parking....at a cost of 36.00 per night it should have been included in the hotel or at least been put out there for consideration prior to making the reservations .”

• Terrific Ambiance, Excellent hospitality, enjoyed the comp wine tasting, will be back!
• Bed could be more comfortable (softer).

“The decor in the rooms is fabulous. The location could not be better. It is close to everything. The front desk was friendly and polite. The room we had overlooked the Cannery but was spacious and clean as can be. We will return again if the price is right.”

• Well run, staff were friendly and location great.
• Unwilling to help us by putting an extra cot into he room, said it wouldn't fit, and offered no alternative. In our opinion there was plenty of room.

“Perfect for a couple or business traveler, or average family of four with older children, not a lot there to help amuse kids, although staff were very friendly with the kids. A little pricey, but worth it for the location, and amenities in the room, the wine tasting hour was a nice bonus, but again, what to do with the kids posed a problem!”

• The hotel is clean and has a lot of character. Bed was very comfortable, like sleeping on puffy cloud.
• There was a long distance between the elevator and hotel room.

“The staff was friendly. The decor gave this old building a newer feel, yet it still maintained a lot of it's charm & character. It would have been nice if they provided continental breakfast.”

“In September I traveled to SF with my sister and boyfriend to celebrate my birthday and to enjoy the chocolate festival. I was already a member of Kimpton and verified through email that my Kimpton membership number was definitely in my reservation. The desk clerk(s) were all really young and knew everything already. I offered my number and I was told he had it. NONE OF MY PREFERENCES WERE MET. I asked for a high up room, and got one looking up to the sidewalk. The room was tiny and dark. The bathrobes are HIDEOUS. Trying to be a good sport I tried to smile through. It got alot worst. Whenever I called down to the front desk I was put on hold and then the line would go dead. We ate at the restaurant next door and served the worst seafood meal ever presented. When we complained we only got huffs and attitude from the manager. When I talked to the concierge at the Argonaut Hotel I was told to wait for my survey to come in my email. The doormen are usually too busy chatting up girls outside to open the door for you. The doors on the rooms are very heavy and you can hear them slam shut all night. When we checked out the front desk guy (I guess he thought he was funny) said to me "no, you cannot check out." Mind you this is about 6:30am and before coffee. So I check out, wait for my survey which went ignored for weeks and then I was told that the hotel didn't know I was a Kimpton member and that if I had only included it ALL of my preferences would have been met. So it was my entire fault? Really? Well I have the email to prove it was included and double check by someone named Georgia. My email was declined and then shortly there after I started to get DAILY harassing emails from the Argonaut Hotel manager. He questioned me about the same things over and over and stating he couldn't believe that any of his employees could ever have said any such thing. I finally snapped. I emailed the CEO. Haven't heard back. I canceled my kimpton account. Being a gold member at another chain I am going back to them. ”

• The nautical theme and the wine tasting in the evening.

“The Argonaut Hotel was awesome! The location was perfect since we were leaving for an Alaskan cruise the next day. My husband and I walked everywhere, the hotel staff was very helpful on directions to anywhere we wanted to visit. The decor of the hotel is BEAUTIFUL! Very cozy and comfortable, we have already told our friends about this wonderful hotel and they missed out by not staying at this hotel. We will DEFINITELY be back to stay with you. Thank you for starting our vacation off perfectly!”

• Close to Warf and Pier 39, great staff, great service, treasure chest was fun.
• Only one elevator, but there was never any long waits.

“The staff greeted us with warm smiles and took great care of me and my family. I had ordered flowers be delivered to the hotel for my wife's birthday. When we checked in, they snuck them into our room, this was after I switched from a king to a double queen. That guy must have been running fast, because everything was set up perfectly when we arrived to our room.”

“The Argonaut is in a great lacation. You are right next to the cable cars and Ghiradelli square. The water is right in front across the street and you are a short walk from the piers. The room was wonderful, very spacious and everything was very clean.We had a wonderful time.”

“Right on Fisherman's Wharf, located in the midst of many attractions in San Francisco. Staff was excellent. The room was bright, clean, and comfortable. Parking was very pricy - $36/night plus a tax which brought it to $42/night to park the car. No other options - parking is impossible in that area.”

“Location was great, next to the turn around for the cable cars. Hotel booked us in smoking room, we asked for non-smoking, front desk was very unhelpful, housekeeping put air filter in room. Did help a little but did'nt move us or even call us back to tell us if they could. Other then this Hotel was very nice.”
