• Location. Amenities. Internet.
• Bizarre decor.

“We found this hotel to be wonderful in enough ways that we will return. If you do, you get the worst rooms, and there is lots of variation. Ours was next to a daily garbage collection routine. The decor is bizarre and unsettling. The location, value and staff are great.”

“Our room was smaller than those found in most European hotel. We couldn't pass each other, one had to step aside. My suitcase didn't fit between the end of the bed and the desk - I had to lift it over the set it on the floor next to the bed.”

• Staff was outstanding from the moment we arrived. Location excellent. Clean and friendly.
• Nothing that I can think of at all.

“Our cab pulled up and Steve from the hotel took our bags and sent us down to the corner to see the sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge. Apparently this nice of a sunset almost never happens due to the fog and he wanted us to see it. What a way to start our first visit to SF! We utilized the concierge endlessly for restaurants, rental cars, etc. We loved the wine hour.”

• Business center charged to use internet, no real sitting area in room.

• Large fresh nautical styled rooms.
• Door to room was installed inside-out. Push to open door, no manual security lock.

“Pleasant front desk. Clean, interesting rooms with a nautical flair. Family friendly, but also good for business travelers. Over-looking the Bay and Alcatraz and within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Very good value.”

“Overall a great hotel, great amenities, super helpful staff, clean. One gripe (besides the oh-my-god anchors everywhere decor): no extra outlets in the room for plugging in chargers, laptops, etc. All the extra outlets were in the bathroom. Other than that minor inconvenience, it was excellent!”

• Beautiful fireplace, wine tasting was wonderful in lobby.

“We loved the location, right on the Wharf. The hotel was nautical in theme, but not kitschy. It was elegant, and the staff was great, the lobby was beautiful and at 5pm the staff hosted a great wine tasting, so many travelers gathered around the gigantic fireplace. We met a couple from Britain who joined us for dinner later. The parking /entry was a mess, there is no safe or easy way to unload, we had to stop in the middle of the street after a few passes around the block. Otherwise we would definitely stay there again!”

• The rooms are very small. No table in the room.

“Great location, great staff. This was a business/pleasure trip with my wife. The room had a tiny desk and no table. Working in the room was a task. Even so, the great service and location makes it a nice place to stay as long as your not spending to much time in the room.”

• Poor sound insulation between the rooms.

“Excellent hotel in prime position in Fisherman's Wharf. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are nicely decorated in a nautical theme. Free wine and beer in the lobby between 5 - 6 pm. Ridiculously expensive valet parking, 40 bucks to drive the car round the corner for one night.”

• All calls for service, i.e. housekeeping were handled promptly.
• The room was too small for a family of 4. No counterpace in bath. We constantly tripped over our suitcases. Horrible view.

“The room was advertised as having a great view over the bay. Our view was a brick wall. The pictures looked very roomy however there wasn't even room for our luggage (4 carryon pieces). We had to stack the luggage as not to trip over it getting in/out of the room. Perhaps they stuck us in a small room because we booked thru pl (?) The hotel was not full. There was a problem at check out because of pl/hotel error. This delayed our departure 15 minutes. We had to tip the taxi extra for the wait. Fortunately, the billing problem was resolved by the time we returned home. I may use pl again, but not when traveling with kids. The location was excellent and we truly enjoyed most of our meals at the restaurant (6 meals). The chowder was fab.”

• Awesome hotel. Perfect location. Walk 1 block and have the Irish coffee.
• Perhaps rooms a touch small, but go to trip advisor and you'll see photos.

“Perfect location. Next to fishermans wharf and the park where the streetcars "sleep". In house restaurant was already closed at 9:10 pm, but walked 2 blocks for great crab legs, then grab an Irish coffee on the way back, but limit to 2 or you'll pay the price (like I did) the next am.”

• Free happy hour at 5pm everyday. Rooms were tasteful and comfortable. Turndown service was provided at night very nice.
• Parking was $40 but that is to be expected downtown.

“Hotel service and staff was excellent! Free happy hour was provided at 5pm. Rooms were very cozy, clean and a tasteful nautical theme. We will be back it was a great time.”

“This is a very nice and clean hotel. Staff was very friendly. We opened the curtain to find a wall, which is okay since the place seemed great. However, they charged for everything! The paper, charged. Ride to/from airport? Charged. Use their computer to get boarding pass? Sure for a charge! Print it? Sure, for a price.”

• Loved the location, decorating, and friendly staff.
• The bed was not the most comfortable and the TV was in bad location.

“This was a great hotel. Great location and all around loved it. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only complaint I have is that they did not have a king size bed for us and so we had a queen size that seemed a little worn down. Could use an update on this bed in room. Because the room was so skinny they have to put the TV off to an angle and that was terrible. Need to invest on putting a flat screen on the wall in front of the bed. It was hard to watch TV or movies at the angle. One more complaint. We could never get the internet to work on our computer in our room. Then the downstairs ones they have for you didn't work either. Little frustrating. But overall this was a good experience. Loved it.”

• They gave us a single bed and a tiny room.

“The room was single room; we had the smallest bed ever, they just provided us with extra blankets to sleep on the floor, nobody cared, very arrogant receptionist. We didn't expect the best room in the hotel, but this tiny room was unacceptable.”

• The Argonaut was a hotel with character and very comfortable feeling. It was very clean, attractive in the lobby and room.

“This hotel had all you would want in San Francisco -- excellent location to the wharf, cleanliness, attractive cutely decorated rooms, very helpful staff, a nightly wine reception in the lobby for everyone to gather and meet others staying there.”

“This hotel was centered in an excellent spot in Fisherman's Wharf. We had two children with us and they also loved the location. It was very easy to find our way to the cable & street cars. We felt very safe in this area. The hotel staff was beyond helpful and gave great recommendations to us and was very fun and pleasant people. The room was awesome. It was a noticed theme and very unique. The hotel used to be an old warehouse and it kept with the whole fisherman/warehouse theme! Very cool! We had a great time and I would recommend this hotel to anyone!”

• Their employees were very nice and very helpful (with the exception of one). We loved the maps they gave us for directions!
• Parking was a little pricey. The room was on the small side.

“The hotel lobby was nice. The room was smaller than we expected and the decoration was a little freaky at first, but once we settled in, we were happy. The hotel staff were wonderful and very helpful.”

“Great location at SF Wharf. Good amenities and attractions within walking distance. Quiet rooms. All in all a nice place to visit. We booked two nights and then added another night for a total of three nights. Check out is at noon which can be nice.”

• The staff was extraordinarily friendly.
• The rooms were pretty noisy (thin walls).

“I had an exceptional stay at the Argonaut, right by the water and convenient transportation to San Francisco. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities clean, and the decor is whimsical but attractive. The only drawback is that the walls are thin and so the rooms are noisy (this is not a hotel for light sleepers). But I really enjoyed my stay.”

• Fun decor, included amenities and friendly staff made the hotel unique and worthwhile.
• No major complaints. My only recommendation would be to offer DVD¿s to use in the DVD player.

“I would highly recommend this hotel. The location was perfect for visitors. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were stocked with additional amenities including great products like aveda. It includes (for free!) Internet access, several choices for your morning newspaper, and even a DVD player in your room! We also liked the fact they were environmentally friendly, with recycle bins located in the rooms.”

• The service was profoundly great.
• Not a single thing negative to say.

“The greeting by the bellmen who opened the cab doors as we pulled up was a cut above the norm and set a tone that caught our attention. This tone was maintained by the front desk and concierge staff, the entire service experience of staying at this hotel was unusually great. I travel over 100k miles a year and stay in a lot of hotels. Whatever training they are providing at the Argonaut is working and they are to be congratulated. I highly, highly recommend this hotel, the entire staff takes a lot of pride in their work and it shows.”

• Staff was very friendly. They had wine every night and treasure for the kids.
• Liked everything, except maybe a lack of parking.

“The hotel was nautical themed. Which the kids loved. IT was an old building that was totally modernized. The rooms seemed very clean. Maybe even new carpet, paint, decor and bedding. Not a huge room but normal sized. We loved our stay here. The location was very convenient to lots of touristy spots.”
