• Great fitness room, nice to have outside patio.
• Front desk staff asked me to take my dishes to the restaurant.

“While this hotel would like to consider itself a premier destination, it appears to be experiencing a transitional stage. Perhaps not understanding the needs and expectations of a well-traveled customer. The hotel manages to get it right in some areas (Fitness and Spa areas) while just not providing the courteous staff one has come to expect at this level of establishment.”

• I loved the spacious room and especially the bathroom! The combo shower tub was big and had the rounded curtain rod.

“The property was beautiful and had that lodge feeling to it which adds to the wine country experience. The rooms were spacious as were the bathrooms. There was a separate room for the toilet. There was combo shower/tub with plenty of space for your toiletries and I personally love the curved shower bars! I will definitely go back!”

• The French doors in the rooms.

“This hotel was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. An employee greeted us and handed us a cold bottled water and we were checked in with10 minutes. We walked to wine tasting and to the hotel's awesome restaurant. They had a ton of good movies to rent from and it was extremely quiet. First good sleep that I've had in a hotel in ages!”

• Inconsistent level of service from staff. Some great, others standoffish.

“Good hotel for the price. I think most travelers to Sonoma will have a car so it's located in a good spot relative to the Sonoma Plaza (main square). On two distinct occasions, I had experiences that left me feeling less valued than other customers. Perhaps it was because I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt but I was speaking to the front desk clerk and even though our conversation was not complete, he turned to the fellow that was next in line (wearing a slick suit) to address his question. Only when he was done with that individual, did he turn his attention back to me and my wife. Another incident was with the concierge at 7 am. Perhaps 7 am says it all. But she was a bit stand offish. I suggested an itinerary for my morning and her response was you can't do it all. No suggestions on how I could squeeze in what I wanted to do. Needless to say, it wasn't very difficult for me to get it done on my own without her assistance. That said, the rest of the staff I dealt with were great. Would I come back? Probably not. There are so many other good spots in Sonoma that I would like to experience.”

• The room was fabulous!
• There is a power station close by that slightly obscured our view.

“We absolutely love this hotel. The staff is great, and they steered us to many wonderful wine tasting and culinary experiences in the Sonoma valley. We would stay here anytime!”

• The hotel was a resort hotel with spa included. They upgraded us to a suite on there property of bungalows, without charging us.
• The room service and food prices were very expensive.

“This resort hotel has all that is expected in a 4 star Hotel, wonderful restaurant, spa service and spa was unique and peaceful. I would go again in an instant!”

“Very friendly and helpful employees there to give you a helping hand and make you smile. The only bad thing is the bathroom shower. The floor leaks out water when you step on it. It smelled and water gets all over the bathroom when you shower.”

• A nice place to unwind after a day of wine tasting. A little oasis. To reinvigorate yourself from traveling.
• A weird little pipe in the shower that the air conditioner condensation would drop.

“The Lodge at Sonoma was a very clean and well appointed hotel. The fitness center was of the best quality we have ever seen. The room was very romantic with a big bath tub and provided bath salts made the bath very inviting. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.”

• Location, helpful & friendly staff and the spa.
• Believe we got 1of the least desirable rooms.

“Our room was roomy and wonderfully appointed; it faced toward courtyard versus parking lot which was all good. However, other rooms toward courtyard had a barrier that prevent public/other guests from using your table & chairs so we had people take up residence just outside our patio door. Also the patio door was very difficult to secure and it wasn't easy to tell if it was properly locked.”

“We had the King Bed room. Very pleasant colors, bed was comfortable, nice little patio outside each room. Bathroom was a bit small but very clean. Pool/Spa area was relaxing. We ordered room serve for breakfast which arrived on time and was very good. Not enough coffee for the $ but was good.”

• The desk person was rude to us twice over the course of the weekend.

“The hotel is nicely appointed and the room we had was very spacious. We had a king bed and it was very comfortable. The room also had a large, deep tub so with some candles and some bubble bath, it was quite romantic. The grounds were well kept and the pool area was nice. The Radiance spa was great! We had couple's massages and really enjoyed them. We also hung out in the spa after, spending some time in the Jacuzzi and ordering some wine and a pizza. We also ate at the Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar restaurant. The service was great and our meals were good. Wasn't the best I've had, but good for the price. The wine prices were very reasonable. The hotel is in a good location. Very close to downtown and fairly close to Napa, Sonoma, and Healdsburg wineries. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Our only complaint is desk person. Upon check in, his attitude was stuck-up (although we were dressed well). Which, in some circumstances could make you look cheap. He also was unhelpful when we were trying to locate the spa. Definitely needs a lesson on what it means to be in the customer service industry.”

• Beautiful grounds, quiet, clean and service was great.
• Although housekeeping did clean the room daily, soap, and shampoo wasn't replaced after use.

“This is a Marriott Hotel. Nice grounds, pool and spa. We were upgraded to a lodge room with a king bed and fireplace, a nice surprise for my husband and me. I would stay again, although away from the central plaza of Sonoma, which has an abundance of shops and dining.”

• Wonderful experience, this hotel is the perfect wine country getaway resort.
• The parking and front entrance loading & unloading is a bit awkward and troublesome if raining.

“This is the getaway gem of the Sonomo Wine Country. Centrally located to excellent restaurants and wineries. The open tub and fireplace room amenities make this a truly relaxing escape. The lobby and restaurant bar are cozy places to unwind.”

“Great location and very attractive hotel. Spacious rooms that are nicely decorated and very new. The bathrooms are great. There are only two downsides: The beds are uncomfortable and there is no free WiFi (or even free wired internet for that matter) in the rooms. I feel like in these times, having comfortable beds and free internet are important. But overall a very relaxing and great hotel. Will come back.”

“The Lodge is a mile south of Sonoma Central and right on the main road. It is somewhat of a compound / resort. They have wine tasting on site with 5 vineyards represented so you can get a good local sample without having to leave the resort. Our room/ cabin were very nice and the fireplace took a bit of the edge off February. The staff throughout the resort from the check-in to the spa to the restaurant was great. The restaurant was very nice. We had 4 meals in 2 days there. We got to know the staff quickly as it is open between the kitchen and the dining area and the chefs took good care of us with items not even on the menu. Overall it was a great value and we would stay there again.”

• Restaurant quality could improve. Direction to hotel clearer, especially driving at night.

“Very clean, comfortable room with great beddings and nice fireplace. We were driving at night and finding it required 6 calls for directions. Swimming in heated pool was serene at night, with the steam rising.”

• Close to town square shopping area and wineries.
• Lobby is a little cold and contrived.

“The Renaissance lodge always more than meets my requirements, and I have chosen to stay there on at least four occasions this year. When there was a billing error, the accounting department went way out of their way to reverse charges made on my card in error within 72 hours, showing great customer service even after they already had my money and my stay was complete; something I find missing in many properties.”

“This is a very nice little getaway hotel, sort of a small resort feel. The lobby has nice furniture and decorations as well as a big stone fireplace and comfy couches. The rooms are very nice, the furniture is solid and the bathrooms and soaps are very nice. Overall, it was a great place to stay.”

• Spacious rooms with up to date TV and computer connections.
• In room coffee was decaf only and not changed for 3 days.

“In room fridge was a plus. Thankfully, neither mini fridge nor mini bar. Quite, comfortable room with very comfortable beds and plenty of pillows of different sizes. Even had an dock on the clock radio to charge up my iPod. Private patio would be a wonderful place for a meal in warm weather.”
