• It was in close proximity to the WSU/Vancouver campus.

• Large suite with microwave & refer, clean, large bathroom with add'l sink outside bedroom.
• Shower curtain leaked onto floor (poor quality).

“We enjoyed the location of our suite--faced the courtyard with beautiful fall colors. Great time to visit Oregon. Although the Shakespearean Festival was closed for the season, there were plenty of things to do in the town of Ashlund including a lovely walking park next to Ashlund Creek plus various concert venues on the weekend. We would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Ashlund.”

• Fountain and lobby is beautiful - rooms refurbished & nice.
• Not able to get front desk - tried 3 times over an hour.

• The room was spacious & clean.
• The lighting was poor in the room. Newer hotels provide a sink, vanity & mirror outside the showering area, this one did not. Plus not enough outlets.

• Very good property.
• Did not care for the 4 floor view of an oil trucking station directly behind the hotel.

“Spent 5 nights. Very good staff. Front desk staff polite and well-trained. Nice breakfast buffet. Again, very good staff. Facilities are well-maintained and very clean. Cleanliness of bathroom (toilet and sink) not as good as it should be - but this is the only negative.”

• It was clean, well designed and comfortable.
• The walls allowed for the children staying next door to be heard late into the night.

“Good hotel, but the location is far from downtown. The walls were thin and allowed for excessive noise. The continental breakfast was very good and the efficiency of the staff was impressive.”

• Very clean. Quiet room to room sound.
• Very hard to pull into 2 way traffic in am.

“Over all experience very good. Rested very well on comfortable beds. Very important on 5 day 10 hour day business trip. Am returning with pleasure this weekend.”

• No Jacuzzi.

• The exterior and lobby were done in a nice northwest style, appropriate to the area.
• My bed looked rumpled on arrival - as if it had been simply pulled back up after the last customer.

“All in all it was alright. The location was at least ten miles north of where I was needing to be, the sprinklers watered my car each night - leaving additional frost to be scraped each morning, and, the bed sheets seemed not to have been carefully made before my arrival. On the up side, the toiletries were very nice samples from bath & bodyworks, and the room was spacious - though it overlooked some sort of substation with oil barrels and other discarded materials, and was adjacent to the noisy i-5 freeway. ”

• The ambiance was nice, as was the location and staff.
• Elevator and some halls had strong pet odor! Need non-pet rooms for those with allergies.

“Been to half a dozen Red Lions and I have enjoyed them. This hotel was like a pet hotel! The elevator and some halls smelled of pet odor. My wife has allergies and had a strong reaction in the room. I think if you allow pets, there should be NON pet rooms as well. No - sweeping the carpet does NOT remove the dander that causes allergic reactions, anymore than dusting a room removes the smoke smell. It would be a good idea to have a staff member who has allergies to pets, explain this!”

• I liked the beautiful stone decor in the lobby.
• I did not like the scratchy sheets and porn ads on TV.

“Beautiful entry way, lobby and attractive rooms. Classy decor. The breakfast did not have any protein available for breakfast- only barbs and sugar. The hotel room was clean, bed was pretty comfortable but not as nice as the new Hampton inn beds. They had a comfortable lounge chair in the room. Internet didn't work at first but was resolved quickly.”

• Hotel was close to the concert venue, had a nice pool, free breakfast, spacious, good exercise room, allowed pets.
• Didn't have a Jacuzzi ;-)

• Location for the concert we were attending was good. Rooms were well equipped with fridge and microwave.
• Not enough staff for a sold out hotel. Check in took too long.

“Hotel was somewhat basic, but clean and had all amenities needed for our stay. Breakfast was a nice addition. It would be great if they had shuttle to the local amphitheater for concerts!”

• The name. Free breakfast was good.
• The room stunk like cigarette smoke so bad I could hardly sleep.

• Clean, rooms not small, easy access to I-5 and 205.
• Apparently the motel has smoking and non-smoking on the same floor. The hallway to my room constantly smelled like smoke.

“Have stayed at this motel in the past and would stay again. 13 minuets to Portland from the parking lot.”

• Newer "lodge-style" construction; nice lobby with leather couches and stone hearth; clean; friendly and helpful staff; free wireless Internet.
• Lighting too dim in rooms (though good for romantic moods); pool too small; no hot tub/whirlpool.

“Very nice, clean, medium-sized hotel with new, better-quality construction and architecture (lodge-style, stucco and timber) - not a huge, sterile-feeling "box" hotel. Convenient location just off of I-5. The lobby is warm and inviting, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there's a well-stocked, free continental breakfast. The rooms are very clean and thoughtfully (though sparsely) decorated. The vanity/sink area has a black granite counter top, and the beds are very comfortable. The too-dim room lighting consists of a few small "mood" lamps and only two recessed cans in the ceiling, which are poorly placed. I guess they were trying for a certain romantic, lodge ambiance, but it's too dark if you're trying to read or get work done. The free wireless Internet access is nice. The indoor pool (with outdoor patio) is also nice, but it's too small for lap swimming, and there's no hot tub/whirlpool. As with most hotels, the exercise room is too small, though well-equipped for its size.”

• Pleasant, convenient, friendly, good amenities.
• Too chaotic, basketball teams, baseball teams, prom parties, noisy & smoky smelly.

“The hotel itself was nice. The room was comfortable & the surroundings were good. We enjoyed the breakfast & appreciated the pc access so we could print boarding passes for our flight home. However, there were too many unsupervised teenagers. There was a basketball team, a baseball team, and prom room parties going on. It was noisy & we had to get the front desk involved three times one night to try & quiet the kids next door. Plus, there was smoking in the adjoining room & we could smell it all night through the doorway. It made me sick to my stomach & gave my husband & me headaches. Not sure if it was a smoking room or not - but the seal between rooms was poor causing the smell & noise.”

• The manager presented our two year old granddaughter with a small stuffed lion. She was delighted and had a new friend for the remainder of the trip.

• We liked the location being close to relatives and activities like Mt. St. Helens.
• The elevator was a little slow, so we took the stairs for the most part.

“We loved the waterfall and entryway to the Hotel. The breakfast was fabulous and had lots of variety, so anyone would enjoy a good meal. The swimming pool was small, but adequate for our grandchildren. Overall, it was a great hotel for us.”

“The hotel was very clean. I believe the person at the front desk was very new, so she wasn't able to provide us directions to the Amphitheatre we were attending a concert at (which was one exit away) but other than that she was helpful.”
