“The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was spotless and the bed was SUPER comfortable. I could not believe all the amenities for the price!” Aug 18, 2009 by
Kelly from Tumwater,WA
“Moderate hotel on the columbia river.” Jul 19, 2009 by
Jeri from Kihei,HI
“The hotel is very nice, but as I mentioned above the experience with the employees was not good.” Mar 11, 2009 by
Reggie from Olympia,WA
“The hotel is located in close proximity to the Columbia river. The view is great. The parking lot and outside of the building do not say 3 star hotel. My room was fine but had a slightly musty odor as if it had not been used for a while. The staff was not particularly friendly. I was somewhat disappointed with the hotel given that it had a 3 star.” Mar 1, 2009 by
Steve from Lynnwood,WA
“Spent the night here had two drunk woman in the room next to me, called the front desk 4 times finally at 3:00 am they passed out. Never again.” Oct 17, 2008 by
Margie
“While the overall aesthetic of the hotel was wonderful, and the room itself was nice, spacious and clean, the tub had soap scum, hair and dirt in it. When I left a comment card asking for it to be cleaned it was not. The comforters did not match the decor of the rest of the room, which was well decorated and very nice. This took away from the look of the room. While the matching is not really an issue, torn sheets are. The sheet was worn enough that there were tears in the sheets.

“Beware of little bugs!” Sep 5, 2008 by
Robert from Spokane, WA
“Beds were comfortable, and the rooms were nice and relaxing with little noise from the freeway, (the fan probably masked it but it was a fairly quiet fan). Having the Riverwalk close, the community and historic parks nearby was a nice surprise. The room set-up was ok but felt as if the two queen beds crowded the room a bit. There was only one lamp for the two beds. This is a just being picky on my part, but the coffee packets didn't have portion info so it was hard to tell how much water to use for brewing.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Doug B. from Kennewick, WA
“The staff couldn't have been nicer but we were surprised that there was a dog show happening with lots of four legged guests (not necessarily a bad thing but) and the hotel just needs a little updating in the common areas.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Chance from Redmond, OR
“The area that the hotel is in is a bad one. There is limited parking. The room had some sort of weird odor initially. I'm not sure if it dissipated or we just got used to it, but it didn't smell good at all. The air conditioning didn't work. One of my biggest pet peeves with this place was the shower head. They use those shower heads that shoot water at you like little needles. Those needles hurt like the devil. How this hotel calls itself 3 stars is beyond me. It's no better than a Super 8, in my opinion. It's old, it's poorly designed, and it's not in a pleasant neighborhood. If you want to stay at a Red Lion, stay at the one directly across the river aptly named Red Lion at the River. Red Lion at the Quay is a dump.” Aug 26, 2008 by
Zayra from Los Angeles, CA
“This hotel is located on the river in Vancouver, WA with a beautiful view. The hotel however is older and needs a bit of refreshing. Hotel Lobby is attractive with a few different sitting areas. One of my pillows on the bed had a bad smell to it. The bed is comfortable enough but the entire bedroom needs an update. Bathrooms are large and has a separate vanity area, both of which are updated and quite nice. Close to freeway access and small downtown area that doesn't really have much going on. Not many restaurants in the area and what's there didn't seem appealing.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Katrina from Dexter, OR
“Great hotel in a good location. Free high-speed and parking which is a huge plus. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Would stay there again.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Sarah from Puyallup, WA
“The room was adequate, but not the cleanest. I have a phobia about pink fungus in the bathroom grout. When you enter the room, it was not a fresh smell that I smelled.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Shelley from Henderson, NV
“We were surprised that the inside of the hotel was very nice as the outside is not attractive. The beds were extremely comfortable.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Shannon from Colbert, WA
“The rooms were very luxuriant but tiny. The staff played dumb about a basketball tourney going on that weekend. It was right outside our window literally 1 foot away. Super noisy and started very early. Right on the river - beautiful. Wonderful city park and farmer's market 2 blocks away.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Cheryl from Willows, CA
“Room was small with oversized furniture, but clean and met our needs. Excellent Downtown location and great view of Columbia River, although a river-side room was not available. Conveniently close to freeways.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Zahra from Coquitlam, BC CA
“NA.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Kelly from Eugene, OR
“The bathroom was clean. There were stains on the bedding and the beds were very uncomfortable. Loud hotel. Horrible location, train tracks ran right next to hotel and trains ran all night long. Planes flew over hotel from PDX so also very loud.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Rhoda from Seattle, WA
“Comfortable, clean, well located but hotel on the river with recent upgrades to interiors.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Jas from Renton, WA
“Location is excellent, near city center. However, the hotel is in serious need of updating and does not warrant 3.5 stars, more like 2-2.5 at best.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Gilbert from Salem, OR
“Although located next to the waterfront of the beautiful Columbia river, and close to Interstate 5, the location of nearby railroad offsets any benefit. You can clearly hear the train, as well as construction along the railroad tracks. The evening staff receptionist was very helpful directing us to a great restaurant, but that is where the courtesy ended. We placed an order for Breakfast but did not receive it, when we questioned why we did not receive breakfast we were told they did not get the order. Their attitude seem rude and ungrateful. I would never recommend this motel to anyone.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Westin from Meridian, ID
“The room was fine. I feel it was a good value.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Colin from Waipahu, HI
“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone associated with me. The service was bad, rooms weren't made up tight (sheets), maintenance workers did not fix room in a timely manner.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Mark from Dallas, TX
“Location is great; the outdoor area along river was disappointing. All concrete and no landscaping which gave the look of the hotel as very drab. the room was very clean and especially the bathroom; the AC unit was inadequate as it never really kept the room cool unless you were standing next to the AC unit; the credenza that the TV sits on is way too big for a hotel room; if new TV was installed and hung on the wall, you wouldnt need the huge piece of furniture. Its nice that a hotel actually offers complimentary internet access.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Jeannie from Nashville, TN
“Rooms have been redecorated but hotel is very 70's in appearance and layout. Cars parked right outside my window, so I had to keep drapes closed at all times for any privacy. I would stay there again.” Jul 18, 2008 by
Carol from Rohnert Park, CA
“Excellent location near freeway but not noisy. Very quiet room. Nice pool and restaurant. A pleasant experience overall.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Maggie from Wheatley Heights, NY
“I was very pleased with this hotel which was centrally located to where I wanted to go and the kitchenette was awesome! No nonsense, clean and very nice people attending. The only drawback was no valet service and the local cleaners don't press on weekends! What's that about?” May 27, 2008 by
William from Pendleton, OR
“Excellent.” May 15, 2008 by
Marie from Kelso, WA
“Nicely remodeled rooms, but paper thin walls. I thought we would get out of town for Mother's day and go stay at a 3 star hotel and swim with the kids. However, there was no indoor pool (outdoor pool closed in May) and the kids couldn't even take a bath because the tub would not hold water. Huge transvestite convention during the weekend we were there. There was almost no parking except not so safe lot across the street. My daughter is young so the large dressed up women didn't warrant any questions. We were within driving distance to home, so we left for home after 90 minutes in the room. Big disappointment for all of us.” May 15, 2008 by
Arlo from Lapine, OR
“Beautiful venue - horrible service. Would not allow early check in (asked at 1:30 and told check in is at 3). When we were checked in and entered our room, it was already occupied by a large man in bed! What a surprise! We went back to the desk and they apologized and gave us another room. No coffee in the room so my husband went downstairs the next morning to get coffee at 7:15. No coffee in the lobby and when he went to the dining room and asked for coffee for the room, he was ignored by two wait staff. When we checked out at 9, there was coffee available in the lobby. Beautiful venue - horrible service!” May 10, 2008 by
Barb from Toledo, OH
“I would stay again at a different time of the year.” May 3, 2008 by
Edward from Victoria, BC CA
“This is an old grand hotel. The rooms are large, but a bit tired looking. It is located in a poor part of town where it is not safe to walk around in the evening.” May 1, 2008 by
Iris from Bellevue, WA
“We had ants in our room and insisted on being transferred to another room. The staff was unpleasant and blamed us for having food in the room. There was a microwave and refrigerator. What were they supposed to be for?” May 1, 2008 by
Kathy from Rialto, CA
“Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Nice room amenities including refrigerator, microwave coffee pot (all neatly stored out of sight in an armoire). Bath and body works soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion! Older looking hotel from the outside, but rooms appear to be updated and remodeled - so don't judge by the outside appearance. Only downside is that housekeeping staff does not start until 10:00 a.m., each day the room was not cleaned until about 1:00 p.m. or later which interfered with our schedule. The housekeeping staff, however, was fabulous.” Apr 29, 2008 by
Andrew from Dupont, WA
“Good Hotel but not in any way a three star I would give it a Two Star due to the age of hotel and a remodel is in its future. Would be a great hotel for a stop on a road trip and the view of the hotel being right on the river has its qualitys that some might look for. Great staff and a pleasant experience overall.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Denese from Coos Bay, OR
“A polite family friendly hotel with shopping and entertainment within walking distance.” Apr 13, 2008 by
Cathy from Vancouver, WA
“I do not wish to stay at this hotel ever again.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Ron from Centralia, WA
“Clean, attractive rooms. Pillows were plentiful but kind of small. Beds were fairly comfortable. The TV in the room was small, old and channel selection was sparse. Coffee maker in the room was a nice touch. All in all a positive stay.” Apr 7, 2008 by
Steve from Fox Island, WA
“Hotel was nice as expected. However, the first room they gave me was totally inappropriate. The next room was OK but the outside environment was very noisy at all hours of the night. Very near train tracks that support the port of Vancouver with switch engines blowing horns all night. Some airplane noise with departing flights from Portland International Airport. The plane noise was OK after 10:30-11 PM nightly.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Dairn from Burnaby, BC CA
“The Red Lion Vancouver, WA, is a nice hotel. The room was very nice and the amenities are as well (restaurant/lounge looked good - outdoor pool was closed). However, when checking in, we were not told about anything that the hotel had to offer, simply directed to our room, "up, and to the right." This hotel caters to conferences and business travelers, so it felt like our family (with 2 young kids) was merely tolerated rather than welcomed. Maybe the staff was just having a couple off days?” Mar 19, 2008 by
Carter from Seattle, WA
“The original Red Lion Inn is a comfortable, updated hotel sitting on top of the Columbia river within a short walk to Downtown Vancouver and Ester Shorts Park - and 10 - 20 minutes to most of Portland. Don't forget the little bit longer spectacular drives to The Columbia Gorge and Mt. Hood. So comfort, views, and location shine at this hotel.” Mar 16, 2008 by
Alan from Dover, ID
“This is a nice hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and a terrific, convenient location on the Columbia River.” Mar 11, 2008 by
Jessie from Seattle, WA
“The hotel was fine. I have stayed in better and I have stayed in worse. However, I was able to stay there at a very low rate and I made my reservation on the day of my stay. The hotel seemed clean and fairly updated. I did have a room on the ground floor right by the hotel drive way which wasn't great, but I got there late and just kept my curtains closed.” Feb 27, 2008 by
Shannon from Greenbank, WA
“Pretty pricey for what you get an old hotel very close to the train tracks. A 3-star hotel should have a heated pool! the beds were very comfortable and gave you lots of pillows! Not recommended for families with small kids!” Feb 11, 2008 by
Jami from Camas, WA
“I was very disappointed in the hotel. It seems as though it may have been a great hotel 20 years ago but is now outdated. They only had may be 8 stations you can get that at Motel 6 which is definitely not claiming to be a 3 star hotel. They had an excuse for a fitness room that had a couple of treadmills in it. I also was very surprised that they didn't serve breakfast--once again, even motel 6 usually at least has muffins and coffee. I have stayed in several hotels over the last few years and this was the first time they haven't had at least that-usually the 2.5 or better hotels have full breakfast and some kind of reception in the evening-whether it be cookies and milk or going all out with cocktails and food. Overall I was just very disappointed in the lack of amenities in this hotel.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Laurie from Vancouver, WA
“I've stayed at this hotel before several times and it has never disappointed. The quality has always been excellent and the service great. I would definitely return and/or recommend it to others.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Diana from Oysterville, WA
“We would definitely stay here again. It is a nice location on the river and the room was quiet even though there was a conference going on and the freeway was not far away. It was a great value!” Jan 19, 2008 by
Steve from Gig Harbor, WA
“Lounge is fabulous-sailing ship motif along with the same theme in the restaurant. A great location on the Columbia river. Also within walking distance of Downtown Vancouver and other restaurants on the river. I have stayed there numerous times before and I was hoping to get something similar but I nailed the Red Lion. Better to be lucky than good.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Arlene from Reno, NV
“The room was in a poor location, but we can overlook that. It was clear they weren't full, but "No, a room with two beds or a king isn't available." When we asked for a handicapped room for my sister, the clerk made it clear the rate didn't apply to her room, so she got a room with two queen beds. We only stayed one day, so it wasn't a big deal. You get what you pay for.”
