• The staff and the quiet rooms were definitely a plus at this hotel.
• Valet parking of $28 seemed a bit much and the small room we were given.

“This was my second visit to Riverplace. During my first stay, the size of my room was more than adequate for a business traveler. However, this stay was another story. The room we were given was like a closet for my wife and I. The staff is wonderful and the photography on the walls is great.”

• Location.

“This hotel, personally, ranks as the highest quality accommodation you can get on the Portland waterfront in downtown Portland. It is on the waterfront (ambience), it is located on the bike/multi-path (adventure), it is located adjacent to Tom McCall Waterfront Park (where all the fun summer festivals commence; culture), it's located minutes and walking distance from shops, and bikeable minutes to brewpubs - it just doesn't get ANY better than that!”

DVD player. You can also order additional pillows from the pillow menu. I will never stay anywhere else in Portland again.”

• Most comfortable beds ever.
• Alarm clock started going off at 7am. We did not set it.

“This was a great one night getaway for my husband and me. I went to a touring musical with my friends while Ben got settled into the room. After the musical we hit the restuarant for Happy Hour, which has a spectacular view of the Willamette river and river traffic. We called for a taxi and had one immediately when we got into the lobby. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only glitch was at 7am the next morning the alarm clock started going off. We unsuccessfully could not get it turned off, and finally unplugged it. At check out, they apologized saying that housekeeping had gone around at turndown service time to reset them for daylight savings time. Also valet parking is very expensive here. I parked myself about a block away for $14 cheaper! I hope that I get to stay at the Larkspur again. It is such a gem!”

• My daughter and I felt like rock stars. When we checked in they didn't have the 2 double beds.
• The only real thing that was a problem was the headboard was kind of funky and my daughter and I both hit our heads really hard on it.

“The overall appearance of the hotel a great along with excellent customer service. The only thing that I did not like was the fact that there was only valet parking. The hotel was close to a streetcar that was free and offered easy and fairly quick access to downtown businesses.”

• On the water and yet so close to the city.
• My room was facing the city.

“This hotel, for the price, was just plain excellent! Service and staff was great, not to mention the location. I believe the room I got was fair for the price though if I could have had a room facing the water, that would have been great too. Only recommendation would be to have fans installed in the bathroom to take away odors.”

• Clean, modern attractive decor, nice waterfront view, nice comfy bed.
• Very small room, very expensive parking space, quite a bit of a walk from dtwn.

“Stayed in a one bedroom with king size bed with a street view at the 2nd Fl. Room has a barfridge lounge chair, TV, DVD, working desk and chair. The decor was contemporary which is more my style. There is a locked mystery door which we believe is part of a bigger suite. No closet or rack to hang clothes. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a decent size but no bathtub. A good brisk 10-15 minute walk to Pioneer place.”

• Great location. We usually stay right downtown but I loved being down on the water and away from all the noise and congestion.

“I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is in a great location right on the waterfront with a beautiful easy ten minute walk to shopping downdown. The room was very comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.”

• The food in the lounge--not up to par with others, bad service.

“Other than the lounge, the hotel was extremely nice. The location on the water spectacular and the desk staff most helpful. There were four of us and we were all equally impressed.”

• Location - lovely walking access to coffee shops and fabulous view.
• Location - it was absolutely difficult to find.

“Lovely hotel with great views, nice harbor area with easy walking access to restaurants and coffee shops. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Restaurant 3 degrees food was not up to par - interesting combinations but not necessarily tasty - and 1 of 2 meals served was Luke -warm. Hotel beds were amazing however, and would recommend hotel just for the beds alone!”

• Not exactly in the center of the city.

“My room was very nice with a window on the river. The personnel was very kind and the bed was very good. Everything was perfect. My only concern is the location. The hotel was not really in the center of Portland and I had always had to take a taxi. Otherwise : perfect hotel for romance or holiday.”

• Beautiful location on a park. Rooms were tastefully decorated.
• Unable to get a room that did not allow pets, a real difficulty for allergy/asthma sufferers.

“The hotel was located next to a city park and river. The restaurant space included outdoor rocking chair seating in which you could rest with dessert or cocktails. Our room was tastefully decorated and included turn-down service. The hotel is undergoing room renovations so some hammering and sawing could be heard starting at about 9 AM. We had a room on the street side overlooking the valet station and therefore could hear trash truck (dumpster) service at 6 AM and an impatient driver honking their horn at 7 AM. The location is wonderful for exploring the city. We were able to walk through a good portion of downtown Portland and did not need to use our car. There is nearby public trolley service (which may be free in the city) just a block from the hotel. Valet parking ran $26 a day and was worth not having to deal with parking in downtown. The hotel kindly held our bags after we checked out so that we could wander around the city until 3 PM on our check out date. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay once again.”

“This hotel is wonderful. It's located right on the river, right on the edge of downtown. The staff is friendly, helpful and patient (I was traveling with my 1-year old and they were amazing with her). The rooms are comfortable, large and modern. A first-class experience.”

“This hotel, overall, has a clean and appealing environment. We loved staying in this hotel! Rooms are spacious with clean, neat and modern decor. It's nestled in a quaint area so you can take a stroll along the riverside and get some ice cream in the evening! Oh, and they have a free, extensive DVD collection where you can rent a movie for the night and use the, included, DVD player in your room! How awesome is that? There is a parking garage 1 block over which charges 6 dollars for overnight parking, but you have to get up at 7:30am and feed the meter (which was worth it still because I think the hotel charges $26). We didn't try walking to Downtown but it's supposedly a decent walk (about 15 minutes). Great hotel.”

• Parking cost is steep ($26 plus tips).

“Recent remodel is very stylish. Great place to start for a run outside, but there is an extra charge and distance to go to access an exercise club. For added charge.”

“This is not a 4-star place. It is at best a 3-star like the Embassy Suites up the street. One person on a Friday 5:00 PM checking in and handling the phones prolonged check-in.”

“This hotel has great a location right on the Boardwalk/Riverfront park area. And the bath products are luxurious and not harsh. The view left something to be desired and being above an intersection was noisy at times.”

“This hotel might be convenient for the traveler with no vehicle because it is near a rail line. However, if you have a car, the hotel is expensive to park at and the street parking is limited (although we lucked out 2 of the 3 times we needed to park). The hotel itself is quite attractive and the staff courteous. Our stay was very pleasant and comfortable.”

“Overall a nice hotel in a good location, pretty central to everything. Only disappointment was being charged $26 per day for valet service, and you were forced to do it because there was not a close parking garage. Not super expensive, but just unexpected.”

• Overpriced restaurant; parking is outrageous.

“Comfortable and quiet with many conveniences of home. I found the business center with computer access, free color printing and faxing to be very beneficial. Free access to a comprehensive health club (first day only then 10/day). The restaurant is overpriced with average food. Parking is a rip off at 24 dollars/day plus tip .Surrounding parking lots have much better rates per day ($10-15)but you have to walk a little.”

• Friendly staff was most gracious and helpful with whatever we needed.
• Nothing really. No fan in the bathroom (steamy mirrors).

“For a hotel that we had never heard of, our stay at the River place was all we hoped it would be. The staff provided gracious hospitality and made us feel welcome from the time we stepped out of our car. The room was perfect, the amenities/services outstanding, and we would definitely stay there again.”

“We were pleasantly surprised with the comfort, location, and staff at this hotel. The room was large and comfortable, the location was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. Our experience at this hotel surpasses stays at other 4-star hotels in Downtown Portland; you get 4-star comfort and service with absolutely no pretension.”
