• Clean and quiet.
• Small rooms, nothing special.

“Unspectacular hotel, slightly off track, with small, remodeled, but not too fancy interior. Clean rooms, friendly staff, but not comparable with other hotels in a four and a half star category I have been to.”

• Most rooms had mini balconies
• Mattress covers emitted a bad odor because they were not regularly laundered.

“The experience would have been more positive if not for the failure of housekeeping to maintain fresh mattress covers. The odor coming from the covers created an unpleasant odor immediately upon entering the room and it only took a short time to trace it to its source. When I reported this, only the mattress cover on the bed I was using (in this twin room) was changed. Very disappointed because of the brand name of this property.”

• It was on the waterfront which was a plus.
• The beds were small and uncomfortable.

“The hotel was in a safe area and on the water which was very pleasant. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The beds were described as being larger than a double but smaller than a queen - it seemed like it was smaller than a double and was too soft.”

• Attractive, clean, bed comfortable
• Hall way noise, $30.00 night valet parking

“Good location, clean,comfortable, though small, rooms, I would stay again, felt I got good value for the room using Priceline. Polite friendly staff. You could hear talking in the hallways, however didn't seem to be a real issue at night, though I did leave the fan running all night for white noise, so not sure if it would have if I wouldn't have.”

“I was extremely disappointed to find out that the hotel only had valet parking for $30 per night and the closest parking was several blocks away (in downtown Portland). The website indicated valet parking, but was not clear on the charge nor that it was the only option.”

“Nice hotel--not bad, but not great. One thing I didn't like was the lack of late-night dining inside the hotel. Our waitress was not overly friendly, and the menu selection was poor.”

• NIce cozy room
• Terrible AC system -- either way too hot or way too cold

“Out of the way for downtown, and needs huge update to AC system. It was a very small room (which is fine), but, because of that, the AC either blew freezing air directly on you or had to be turned off (making the room stifling within minutes). Thus, your choices were to freeze or to roast with absolutely no in betweens.”

• Convenient to downtown amenities while also close to river walk.

“We never touched the alarm clock, yet it went off (loudly) at 4 AM on a Sunday morning. Quite unpleasant. I suspect hotel staff are supposed to make sure alarms are off on all clocks before a new guest arrives. That was the reason for rating hotel staff a 5, otherwise I would have given a 9.”

• Great River views.
• $13/day internet, a bit of a walk to everything.

“Great place to stay. The rooms are top notch and the river view is fantastic. The hotel itself is wonderful. If it were close to the actual activities in downtown, and if the internet cost was reasonable, I would have given it another 1/2 star. As it is a great place to stay.”

“The room was very comfortable, clean, and had all the modern conveniences. The fitness center was clean and had plenty of equipment to exercise with. The level of service from the staff was above and beyond what I have experienced at other hotels of this caliber. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.”

• This hotel had the friendliest staff ever all was kind and helpful.
• The location was a bit far for shopping downtown, and the valet parking was expensive $28 plus tip.

“The location was a bit farther than anywhere we had stayed before, so carrying Christmas gifts back was a bit of a chore. We ate at champions Saturday night and was a tad surprised that a pitcher of coors light cost almost 20 dollars
but all in all we were not disappointed at the end of our stay.”

• Very clean. Great friendly staff. Relatively close to everything.
• Room could have been a bit bigger.

“Very friendly and accommodating staff. Parking was nearby. Rooms were quiet. Bed was comfortable. It is downtown, but just a bit away from where we needed to be. Quick cab ride got us where we needed to be. Would be great for an event at Keller Auditorium.”

• Nice decor.
• Bed wasn't full king size.

“Nice place to stay for the money. They won't validate your parking, so expect to spend an extra $30 on that. It's crowded and congested, and multiple employees will pester you when you walk in, and it's hard to figure out which desk is the right one, and which way you came in when it's time to go find your car. Downtown is busy and hectic, and the parking structures are unsafe places at night. Expect to walk a couple blocks from the car, so travel light. The cable TV cuts in and out, which will frustrate you. If you are there to sleep it's great, nice and quiet.”

• The bed was the very most comfortable I have ever slept on in a hotel!
• $5.00 for a water? Come on!

“My teenage daughter, her best friend and I all stayed here for the night. We loved the beds, very comfortable! The hotel was conveniently located by public transportation and had a very nice pool/hot tub. We felt well cared for.”

• Room accommodation were far more than expected - very comfortable.
• Not close to city center but still great waterfront location.

“Front desk staff was very pleasant and friendly. Appreciated your front service/door staff, very helpful in obtaining transportation and nice to have someone open cab door after
a night of too much fun. The rooms were amazing, the ability to temperature control was nice. All in all,

a very enjoyable stay.”

“I had a great stay at the Portland Downtown Marriott Waterfront. The staff was extremely friendly and is a beautiful hotel. I would definitely stay here again. The location is great as well, with it being so close to the river, a bridge, and the light rail.”

• I did not like the valet parking. I felt rushed out of my car and I didn't like it.

“Good Location great view, way to stuff Bell hop mandatory, valet parking mandatory, etc. WiFi 10 bucks a night, but they gave me a coupon when I complained.”

• The room was teeny tiny, something out of NYC.

• While everything else was 4 stars the room was not.

“I've spent less and gotten more at other Marriott. While the room was in a 4 star hotel the room was not great. small. Little window cover up by a tree couldn't see the water from it. No balcony although other room in the same hotel had them. It was probably their cheapest room.”
