• Although traveling with 3 toddlers, the elegance of this hotel swept my husband and I away, the front desk was incredibly considerate.
• Upon our arrival, there was hair in the bottom and sides of our bathtub.

“Current and elegant, this was a nice break from the chain hotels we usually frequent. Sleek lines, elegantly earthy decor, Eco-friendly environment w/o being 'granola', the Vintage is comfortable for trendy youngsters, climbing professionals looking to impress associates, as well as appreciative-of-nice-things seniors. My husband and I are ranchers and live a bit of a rough lifestyle, so the Vintage was a real treat and made us feel totally citified during our stay.”

• The hotel staff was extremely helpful and nice, from the valet giving us directions, to the staff assisting us with wine!
• Parking was $31.

“This Hotel was amazing. I think it is a really well kept secret. It's location is in walking distence of just about everything you might want to do in Portland. I went on a morning run along the water and it was beautiful. The staff could not have done a better job. I took my 2 kids with me and needed to upgrade my room. I didn't even have to ask, the desk clerk saw my kids and said "I think we have a room that you may like even better, do you want to look at it and compare the rooms?" No one has ever asked me that before. We got a huge suite, it was beautiful!”

“We had a great time! I would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to everything. They recommended us to a great restaurant, Andinas. It was fabulous and the hotel treated us to truffles when they made our reservations.”

  money on Priceline.
• No onsite parking, must use valet or park on street.

“Clean rooms, friendly staff. As the hotel is pet-friendly, we were fortunate to be placed in an allergen-free room. Recently remodeled, the rooms were clean, with LCD TV, desk, firm bed with down comforter, and small but fine bathroom with good water pressure and Aveda products.”

• Very modern and comfortable.

“Was very surprised at how neat and modern this hotel was, but so comfortable at the same time. I had a great night's sleep. The bedding was very soft, not over stretched like some hotels. Our room had a large TV and free WiFi which were great perks. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved that they had discount valet parking for Hybrid cars.”

• Pullout bed not comfortable, no swimming pool.

“This is a very nice boutique hotel. While it is very well decorated, staff is excellent, I was traveling with kids and there was no pool. The pullout bed for the kids was not comfortable but the king size bed for us was great. Great location, right downtown, $30 valet park (reasonable for downtown). Very friendly, rooms were trendy and very clean.”

“Staff was friendly, hotel needs to be revamped because it looked old. Hotel was not so clean, and workout room was really bad. Also, workout room didn't have everything (earphones) it needed, and paper cups were frustrating. Hotel restaurant was very good, and staff was friendly.”

• My husband thought the room should have a nicer TV.

“The entire staff war friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The lobby was a comfortable place to drink coffee and read the paper in the mornings. The starlight room was small, but it was beautiful and comfortable! We loved it and would love to stay there again!”

• Mattress was uncomfortable, best for me, is a firm mattress with a pillow top.

“The room was a decent size and was attractively decorated. However, the bed was hard and had not been upgraded to what you would expect in an upscale hotel
quality firm mattress with a pillow top. The headboard had not been dusted and the ceiling air returns were very noticeable in the room. When my husband mentions them you know they are very noticeable! He commented about the hanging dust from them but I mentioned at least the filters behind the filthy louvers were clean they just didn't clean the louver door, like for years! We had a wonderful breakfast of ciabatta french toast at Pazzo's the adjoining restaurant to the Vintage Plaza Hotel. The hotel staff was very cordial and helpful.”

• Nice boutique hotel, comfortable lobby and excellent restaurant
• Hotel is in need of renovation, a bit threadbare in the rooms.

“I nice small hotel, with a good restaurant/room service. Rooms are old and in need of updating. Next door is the Hotel Lucia, you'd do better staying there and get more value for your travel dollar while still having the same location, but you would add a hotel that is in the 21st century, the Hotel Vintage Plaza is not there yet, and it costs the same.”

• Everything! My room, the staff, the beds, the little touches and amenities, location, everything!

“The staff was amazing and friendly. My room was beautiful and large, beds so comfy and great little touches like a stuffed animal waiting to greet me on my bed when I arrived. The decor was beautiful all around, my room was quiet and the free wireless was great too. I want to stay here again in the future! Highly recommended.”

• Pleasant and competent staff at front desk. Great location.
• Public spaces pretty grubby. Pet friendly, so problematic if allergic (like me).

“Conveniently located older property in dire need of renovation. Public spaces much worn and consequently grubby and my room had similar problems. Bed was comfortable, nice in room minibar/fridge (that can be used to store your own floor), but no in-room coffee/tea. Front desk staff was very pleasant, typical of a Kempton property.”

• The location was excellent and the staff was very helpful.
• The toilet over flowed with no due cause! Also, the pillows were too puffy which gave me a soar neck the next day.

“The location is perfect, in the center of Portland. My room wasn't really clean and had a very small window overlooking an inside square. The personnel wasn't kind or helpful. Everything I had asked them seemed to be too much.”

• Burnt-out bulb on desk, no coffee in room.

“Lovely. Parking was spent, but expected. Rooms were beautiful, staff was cordial and kind. Pazzo, the restaurant attached to the hotel, is spectacularly good, and was the reason for my indulgent one-night stay. Worth it just to have dinner and breakfast there!”

“The Vintage Plaza is a very nice boutique hotel with dedicated and friendly staff. The moment you walk into the lobby area you get a sense intimate and warm atmosphere. I personally recommend the Pazzao Restaurant that is attached to the Vintage Plaza. The food is fantastic. The location is excellent and very close to several fine dinning restaurants. Two thumbs up at the Vintage Plaza.”

• The hotel staff was quite attentive when un-expected issues occurred.
• Too many un-expected issues: Public extreme drunkenness by clients. Too many police officers.

“My first night was (for the most part) a disaster, as I was sandwiched in between two rooms; for which extreme parties were going on. Apparently the police arrived and arrested individuals in one room. The kids (very young kids) in the other room kept trying to open the adjoining door to my room. The hotel management was contacted and they tried to put me into another room. Due to the confusion of the police (regarding the other patron), they were unable to attend to my room change request until nearly midnight. I totally understand that the patron issue was not the hotel's fault. It was just an unfortunate circumstance. I (unfortunately) had put in a very long day and had to remit a long brief (early in the morning). All in all, I survived. Would I stay there again.”

• The hotel is one of the best all around hotel experiences in the country.
• That I had to leave.

“The hotel, remodeled facility may not overwhelm but they get everything right. Their staff is beyond exceptional and they somehow run a hotel that manages to simultaneously be romantic for lovers, efficient for business travelers and welcoming for families. The best thing about the VP is their pet friendliness dogs are treated as honored guests and not vermin as at many hotels. Pound for pound the hotel is one of the best lodging experiences I have had anywhere. I honestly cannot think of anything bad to write about the place.”

• Nice and small and convenient. They are in the process of getting ready for a remodel.
• Stayed here long time ago, very slow to remodel.

• The beds are terrible, lumpy, outdated low budget mattress.

“Nice people, clean, room was small. More like a deluxe 2.5 star hotel. Motel 6 premiere at Disney land was much more roomy. This room was almost the same as holiday inn express without breakfast bar.”

• Very quiet, not so much bustle. Extremely good staff. Aveda products! Superb location.
• Parking my motorcycle was a little costly, but wasn't their parking garage.

“What a joy to return to the Vintage Plaza. I consulted for some top hotels and have done a lot of traveling. I would give 5 stars only to the best of the best hotels I've ever stayed at--of which there are only a few I can recall. The Vintage earns every bit of its 4 star rating. But the staff and personal nature of the stay are unmatched. It reminds me of a quaint European Hotel where it is a personalized experience, quiet, and not too much hustle and bustle. It is located as close to the heart of Portland as you can get. So much to do and within easy walking distance.”

“The hotel was in a great location but parking was a nightmare. The hosted wine tasting was only from 5-6 so we missed it due to checking in a 6:05. The rooms were ok but I did not think that there were 4 star rooms. I have stayed in a lot of hotels that were 4 star and this one did not compare. Plus our toilet was plugged when we got into the room and had to have someone come up and fix it.”

• Very accommodating staff -valet, bellman, front desk.
• Would have preferred in-room coffee and closer ice machine.

“This hotel is under renovation - but you probably wouldn't know it. There was essentially no inconvenience at all and all work was stopped by 5:00 PM. The furnishings in my room were all brand new and the room was very spacious and inviting. I can't rave enough about the friendly and accommodating staff. I can't wait to go back!”
