• That they are pet friendly.
• That they did not clean our room for the two nights that we stayed there and had to call for clean towels and make our beds.

• The restaurant.
• No pool, no hot tub.

“The beds are not very comfortable and the linens were very old. The rooms are cramped and a bit dingy! Not like any four star hotel I have ever been to! A nice boutique hotel but not a four star property by any means.”

• No information about coffee in room, lounge and restaurants were very expensive.

“Hotel was beautiful, quaint, not much information about what was offered in the room. there was no coffee in room only to learn the next day that coffee was in lobby and a coffee pot could be brought to the room. The restaurant and room service times were wrong in the hotel information.”

• Bedding, I liked the interior old world style of the room.
• The bed itself. I prefer pillow top mattresses esp. in a 4 star hotel . No onsite parking.

“Our room was charming and good sized. Bedding was very comfortable although I would have preferred a more comfortable mattress. Everything within the room was in working order. Hotel is in a good location within walking distance to many of the sights in Portland. I would have preferred on-site parking but the valet parking attendants were friendly and quick. We liked the free coffee in the morning and the wine in the evening.”

• The front desk people, the bed was comfortable.
• The feather pillows, noise from garbage truck.

“The people at the front desk were so very nice. I hate feather pillows, they flatten out get hard with flat feathers. Bed was very nice, room was nice and very clean. This hotel accepted my low bid, I was very pleased with them to do that.”

“Hotel staffs warm/friendly.rooms not up to 4-stars hotel standard,the floor was creaking washroom sink was cracked, with room window all closed still can hear garbage truck/truck pick-up noise at 6 AM in the morning. rooms definitely need some TLC and makeover.”

• First they gave us a 1/2 price on valet because of our Hybrid car. They were very friendly and clean.

“When we checked in we were treated very special by the staff. The hotel was beautiful inside and the room was decorated classy and very clean. I hope to stay there again.”

• The bedding was deluxe.
• They would not just leave my room service tray in the hall. I had to get out of bed to get it. Bad system.

“The hotel is quite nice. They upgraded me to a king size bed with no problem. The room was comfy. The robes were bad a deluxe hotel should have plushy robes not rough small sized robes. Room service menu is extensive and tasty. The staff were above excellent. I thought it was tacky that everything in the room had a price tag. It was sort of like paying to sleep in a store. My final complaint is that I had to get out of bed and get dressed to let the room service staff in my room to set up my breakfast. I would rather just roll it in from the hall. But the place was wonderful it the heart of downtown Portland close to movies, opera and restaurants. I really enjoyed my stay.”

• We like the first run in room movies! The room was very comfortable, clean, and a nice size.
• The bathroom was kind of weird. Not very 4 star-like.

“The staff was great at the Hotel Vintage Plaza. They were super helpful without being all up in your face. This hotel seems like it's been around forever, but is updated without being totally modern. Overall, a real classy joint.”

• The staff was intelligent, well spoken, listened well and helpful.
• Parking for $30 a night is absolutely absurd!

“We loved everything about this hotel. The staff was intelligent and well spoken. They remembered our names and made us feel welcome into their hotel. The rooms were fantastic. They were very "can-do" and always asked if we needed anything else even after they had helped us with a primary need. There was always someone to open a door for us. I would not recommend for younger kids. Not because they wouldn't be helpful but because it is geared more towards adults and there is no pool. I selfishly loved the relaxed but city pace of this hotel without the noise of the wee ones.”

• It is a unique redone old hotel that is far from the Cookie-cutter experience of chain Hotels
• All was good.

• Perfect location in Downtown Portland. The staff was wonderful always helpful and kind.
• The bathtub was not cleaned very well, there was a plumbing problem, and the air-conditioner sounded like it was on its way out.

“Great location. Walking distance from everything. Very upscale (a Hollywood A-listed was also staying while we were there). The staff was incredibly helpful and professional. The first room we were in was perfect except for the bathtub (which was dirty) and the plumbing (we had to change rooms). The second room had a nice view of the city, but seemed a little worse for wear. The rooms were pretty big and I liked that they were all themed after different Oregon wineries. The beds were very comfortable.”

• It is a nice boutique hotel in a good location. Room small but comfy.
• Didnt dislike anything but it doesn't hold up to other Kempton properties. Really nice, but maybe three star rating?

“This is a very nice downtown hotel with a lovely interior and good service. Very dog friendly and comfortable. Wine tasting is a nice way to meet others and I understand there are some rooms that are very deluxe-standard rooms are small but nice. The lobby is small and the feel of the hotel doesn't live up to the Kempton hotels I have stayed at. Definitely a nice upscale three star hotel, but maybe not a four star unless upgrading to a suite. Comfy, pretty and clean. Wine tasting a treat and no complaints.”

• The rooms are so beautiful. Professionally designed. They provide you with Veda products. The room was immaculately clean.
• Not enough TV selection. I wish they would have mentioned their pillows and duvets are down. I am allergic.

• Concierge, candy was amazing. Also, in room gold fish.
• I can't think of anything.

“This hotel is amazing. They are kind and very willing to help you with anything you require to have a great time. The concierge took great lengths to make sure that the entertainment we were looking for would be suitable for us. Also, there is in room gold fish service, neat animal print robes and the in hotel restaurant is amazing. Great for anyone who wants to stay in Downtown Portland and be able to walk to the numerous attractions, bars, and donut palaces?”

• Had to go downstairs to use the restroom while in the lounge.

“A very relaxing and comfortable stay. Elegant decor. Room service was excellent. The lounge was comfortable and the staff exceeded our expectations. We would defiantly come back!”

• The staff was friendly and very attentive from the front desk, to the doorman to housekeeping.
• There was nothing that I did not like.

“I enjoyed the comfortable room the bed was very nice with nice linens. The windows are floor to ceiling which provided a nice view out. The staff was friendly and the wine reception by the fireplace was very nice. It was also nice to have the option of taking your glass up to your room if you desired.”

• The front desk staff was extremely helpful with any need.
• The bathroom felt old with maybe just a new countertop to dress it up. The in room coffee wasn't 4 star quality.

• Very friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location. Secure rooms. Free wireless internet. Close to 24 hour parking.
• Muted traffic noise but that is to be expected in Downtown.

“Excellent experience for the very reasonable price for the 2 nights we stayed there. Extremely friendly, helpful and courteous staff that treated all guests with same high quality service. Also the very comfortable bed and clean and well decorated rooms and free wireless internet a big plus (as a person who needs to stay tied into business on business and leisure trips, one of my pet peeves is paying high rate for wireless connection on top of a high rate for a room). We will likely use to book future rooms in Downtown Portland if we continue to get hotels as well run as the Vintage Plaza.”

• Loved the dog friendliness nice to see it on vacation.
• Bathrooms were small, room was kind of small.

“This is one of the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff couldn't be better and more helpful. It's great to hang out by the fire in the lobby (very cozy) and pet a fellow traveler's dog! The only negative is the size of the rooms not terribly small, but smaller than I would prefer and the small bathrooms (ours had a cracked sink.) With a little bit of a make over, this would be a 4 star hotel.”

• The staff was fantastic.
• The room was average and the windows were awful.

“The hotel was very well situated in the centre of all areas of interest. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The public areas were very well finished however my king deluxe room was not very impressive. It was bland; with average comfort levels and the windows were a disgrace (borderline dangerous) and did nothing to combat road noise.”
