• Great location and clean accommodations.
• Too expensive for parking, did not accommodate prearranged room request, no fridge in room, pushy doormen.

“The hotel is nice, clean, very comfortable and very conveniently located in downtown Portland. $30.00 valet parking is outrageous, when you can park right around the corner for 1/2 the price. Called 1 week in advance to request a double double room and was told no problem, done deal. Upon arrival we were booked into a King room with no option for change, they told me that it was just a request. But they provided a roll away bed which took up a lot of space but worked fine. All in all a good stay, nothing terrible, I would go back again.”

“We were planning several activities in the downtown area - only for one evening. The Marriott provided a level of quality, comfort and safety we could count on. Great match for us.”

• Location.
• Average room, bad parking.

“This one was the least desireable in this area. I don't see it. Hilton, Doubletree and Crown Plaza were all better rooms. Parking at those institutions was either free or $18. The room's bathroom was poorly designed. It was very difficult to get in and shut the door without being in the way of the door. Awkward at best and down right inconvenient at worst. Parking. Valet parking takes 15-20 minutes to get your car as (they told me) the garage is 4 blocks away. It is $29 per day, you feel obligated to tip every time they bring your car. All other garages nearby are less per night including the one in the same block as the hotel. Room was average. Everything costs. Bottled water, free in many other hotels, was $3. Internet in the room costs. Tiny lobby.”

“The room was very comfortable with flat-screen TV, soft duvet and bedding and the room was stylish and large. I also liked the Bath and Body Works toiletries. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel!”

• They didn't have free breakfast.

interesting view. The prices were high enough that they should give free breakfast to the people staying there. I won't be staying there again, just for that reason.”

• Location.

“This hotel is centrally located in the downtown business district. The rooms are very nicely appointed with upgraded mattresses, pillows, and bed linens. There is a flat screen TV.”

• Comfortable bed, beautiful furnishings.
• Internet, parking.

“This was a beautiful hotel. However, we are from Arizona and are not used to inner city hotels with no parking. When my wife asked the front desk clerk where to park, she just stared at us blankly, which I thought was kind of rude. We were on a long road trip and we wanted to have access to our car for storage purposes, rather than unload the whole thing. Luckily, there was a garage around the corner. The Radisson by the airport is almost as nice, and has free parking and free internet. This Marriott should probably be raised to 4 stars, so people know what to expect. It really was beautiful.”

• The view from 19th floor - wonderful, staff was so friendly/helpful.
• Such a late check in, 4 pm is hard but they held bags for us.

• Valet stole a key from my key ring when I didn't tip him.

“Overall the hotel was great. The only thing is the valet stole a key from my key ring because I did not tip him when I arrived. He hesitated to come to me for some reason so I hesitated with my tip. Great hotel, but park your car yourself.”

• Comfortable bed. Very quiet (in spite of many teenagers in hotel).
• Bar was high priced, martini not well prepared, bartender barely present.

“Great location between Pioneer Square and the Pearl. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Very quiet. Friendly staff. Nice enough decorations. Pleasant smelling lotion and hair product. Don't use hotel parking -- leave your care at Smart Park at Yamhill and 10th and walk a few blocks to save half your parking expenses.”

• Convenient to all Downtown locations.
• Only one restaurant and it was pricey.

“This hotel is convenient, clean, well-appointed. Although a free high-speed internet connection should be standard. The staff is efficient, helpful and responsive although they did not always give good directions. They didn't seem to know their way around the neighborhood very well. The valet parking was very efficient and the room itself was clean and attractive.”

• Service was excellent; the "Concierge Level" was terrific.
• Seemed to be not as much public space in the hotel, but then it was in downtown Portland where there was plenty to do.

• The bartender wasn't too friendly, coffee shop opened late.

“Located in the SW portion of Portland it is very close to the Pearl District, great dining and clubs, and very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and attractive, free use of internet at the business center (with printer and fax) and a very nice gym with hot tub. I highly recommend this property.”

• Efficient. Willing to give me two beds for 3 people.
• Yikes. No parking! It cost $18 at night to park and more each time you left or entered the parking garage. Hilton gave $18 card/24 hr.!

“Again, the hotel was terrific but they really should offer 24 hr. parking passes for a flat fee!”

• Parking is expensive.

“For a stay in Downtown Portland, this is a perfect hotel. It's right by Pioneer Courthouse Square and some excellent shopping, and walking distance to the Pearl District. Views are very good if you get a king-bed room (double doubles face the inside courtyard). The bed was super-comfortable and the room very nice. The concierge lounge, if you can get access, has excellent hot breakfast, and the staff was very friendly. Supply your Marriott Rewards number, and you might get some nice perks.”

• Phones didn't work well, room was basic, parking expensive.

“The Marriot felt like a business traveler's hotel. The Hilton, which we've stayed at before seemed cleaner, friendlier and more romantic. Parking at this location was very expensive and misleading -- spent $16 for 14 hours overnight (high for Portland).”

“Very close to buses and subways and shopping. was also in the free transport square, so I didn't have to pay tri-met fares. was really close to a free lunch program for homeless which wouldn't have bothered me if the homeless people didn't keep asking me for change for food.”

• I would have liked an extra blanket in the closet.

“This hotel is centrally located in Downtown Portland. Valet parking was definitely appreciated as we arrived during rush hour traffic on a Friday. The valet staff was efficient even when we had to double park on a busy street. Our room was spacious and quiet. The bed was very comfortable with a down mattress overlay and a down comforter. I will recommend the Marriot to my friends.”

• Pet policy-no reason to stay in a hotel that doesn't welcome my entire family.

• The bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in years.
• The location is busy, therefore, there's a lot going on and the lobby is smaller.

“A truly excellent stay. The location was fantastic. Considering you are right in the heart of downtown Portland, with how busy it can get on a Saturday night, the stay was exceedingly quiet. Not to mention, the bed was fantastically comfortable.”

• No swimming pool, only spa Jacuzzi.

“The Portland Marriott City Center combines beautiful views, spacious rooms, a wonderful location, and fine dining. It has a wonderful concierge who will not hesitate to help you with any questions you might have about Portland. The fitness center, though small, was aesthetically pleasing and had everything you could ask for from a gym, including towels and three TV's. I was highly impressed with this hotel.”

• Parking is $24.

“Short walk from electric train that runs from airport around city every 15 minutes. Good location in city of Portland. Extra $24 per night for parking. Rooms are clean and comfy beds (important) Bathrooms clean. Decor is classy. Hot tub is clean. NO pool (in city). Most staff courteous. Only the rooms down hall had a lot of door slamming both nights for 2 to 3 hours straight annoying.”

• The location was ideal and central to activities of interest to us.
• If necessary, front desk staff could have been friendlier.

“Upon arrival, front service staff (bellman) was friendly and cordial. Quick to provided suggestions to locations within walking distance of property. Room was clean and larger than expected (possibly an upgrade). At departure, again, front service quick to obtain transportation for us. Being in the Hospitality Industry Me is very impressed.”

• The room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel was also in a good location.
• I was not greeted by the hotel staff at check in. They just stared at me.

“I had a good stay and the room met my standards and expectations. Overall, my stay was very nice. However, I was not impressed with the customer service of the hotel. There were three people standing at the front desk and they just stared at me holding my bags until I told them I wanted to check in. If Im standing in your lobby holding two bags, you should assume Im checking in and acknowledge my presence.”
